I have to go to bed pretty soon so won't be around to make screenshots, but how high can it go?

My brick and mortar Gamestop still had $200 on the used box

Only because the employees probably didn't change the box yet. That shit doesn't just magically appear. If it's $169 on the website it'll be $169 at the store. That was the amount I was expecting, too, since that's what a used 360 w/o hard drive goes for.

i personally would like to thank Kay for saving this thread. Thanks kay.

That price on excite is...exciting. If I didn't plan on spending so much money this winter on games, I'd hit it and quit.

Amazon?
Really?
Realllly?
Is this what we are back to?

Oh stop. This thread wasn't made with any intention other than "look how it's selling on Amazon, holy shit!" It's an small indication, but let's face it, we all know for a fact Wii will now win the rest of the year and months after.

On that note, at work today, we sold SO many fucking Wiis. The day of the price drops on PS3 and 360? No where NEAR what I saw today.

Haha, now I know the Wii is in trouble. Sony folks used to pull out this amazon sales rank shit to try and prove that the PS3 wasn't completely fucked.

sales numbers this month will be huge in wii land. practiacally every online store i shop at sent me an email announcing the price drop. in comparison i dont think i got even one for the ps3 slim.

i was at the gym this morning talking to a guy who asked why i hadn't been there as much lately, and i told him that i'd had a pulled hamstring but had been getting a great workout at home with this game EA SPORTS ACTIVE. he said, "oh, that's on wii right? they just dropped the price. i guess i have to buy one now."

i was fucking stunned. the guy did not fit the profile.

. . . if there is a profile

I love Weekend GAF :lol

All the Amazon stuff shows is that the price drop worked to some extent

Man, I hope Excitebots really does get a huge sales boost out of the price drop. That game is so fucking amazing. I still play it regularly.

Its Amazon. Its sales percentages. Its no real indicator of anything. But...

Wii Wheel with Excitebots Bundle is a really good bundle. Believe it or not, people buy the wheels on their own. These people exist and I have met them. Spend $5 extra and get a copy of this Excitebots thing; "They're like animal cars or some shit." It's a good way to get the game to sell more, definetly. New owners probably don't own Excite Truck either; one or the other, doesn't matter, they're really fun games.

damn, with Jungle Beat also up there, I thought there would be more of a deal. Seems like $10 off, which is still nice, but I can't justify spending $20 when I have it on the Gamecube.

any other deals?

Why would you ever compare percentage increases in any case? It's absolutely meaningless without the actual numbers behind those percentages.

Anybody else read it in Sheldon's voice?

I like how everyone was proclaiming that the Wii was finally hobbling its way to failure.

THE WII IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE WII

Wasn't there some topic about the PS3 slim increase being like 300% or something?

It's too early to make a fair comparison, though.
How could the PS3 Slim increase be 300% when the Slim didn't exist before the price cut?

The PS3's sales increased over 1000% in the UK, and increased by a similarly large amount (if not more) in Japan, although the latter was mainly due to the fact that they went from selling around 2,000 units a week to moving 150,000. I don't think I ever read anything about their increase in America, though.
Similar large amount? It was a 15,000% increase in Japan lol

I remember when the Wii was announced to have a price tag of $249 instead of $199 this was a huge mistake because the rule of thumb for consumers is anything UNDER $200 can be an impulse buy. Well, now that the Wii is finally in that catergory, we now have a shit economy and I'm pretty sure impulse buy status these days is $149 or under.

Not that it matters, the wii will continue to sell shit-loads of hardware this holiday season

I think 199 is still the impulse buy range but impulse buys happen when someone is interested in the product. Mom and Pop arent gonna buy a 360/Ps3 just because it got a price cut they have to want it or have interest in it beforehand.

Thats where the Wii is lucky. It is on everyones mind for the most part in someway so its far more likely for the Wii to be an impulse buy now. The Wii still offers an entry into gaming the other two cannot even if closely matched in price.

So when is the title thread changed into something ridiculing the OP for creating a topic with Amazon chart stats?

It should be due soon, surely?

Excitebots is now up 121000%, for a grand total 24-hour sales total of 121 copies.
How is it possible for people to get to page 3 of a thread and still not have understood anything that has been said?

It's not easy, but that's what makes me so great.

Anihawk, you were the first post I ever read on GAF and you are still amazing.
