Wii U HOMEBREW Discussion Thread [exploits/apps/games/stuff]

What do you mean by "does not appear to be the case"? I have those urls blocked, and the eShop works fine for me. Haven't tried online in a game yet, but the connection test in Settings completed successfully too.

I actually have the same concerns with my router - I was using the Tubehax DNS for the longest time and the eShop was always blocked, which I thought was the expected behavior all along - online play continued to work, provided that the software had not forced any updates, main offenders are usually SMM/XCX here - the fix would just involve disabling Tubehax briefly, pulling down the game update and then reenabling it. Not a big deal to do that since the latest firmware was considered "safe" but I'm sure this will all be changing soon.

Blocking these URLs in my router still lets the eShop be accessible so I'm worried that not everything is being blocked that should be (caveats of URL blocking in my ASUS RT-N66U is that https and compressed webpages are unblockable)

Hmm, I was unable to access the store when I set all of those. Maybe I did something else wrong, I'll try again. Thanks for the tip.

Found a NES/SNES/DS injector on gbatemp called Nin-jecter that requires a rom and a base VC game, but sadly it's giving me malware warnings and I can't try it out. Anybody have any experience with it?

As I pointed out in my post above, eShop inaccessibility in the past has been an expected side effect of using Tubehax DNS and has been part and parcel with blocking system updates - iow, your router sounds like its doing the "right" thing based on past behavior.

I worry that people who can still access the eShop after blocking those URLs in their router may be in for a rude awakening.

Can anyone confirm if closing the DS is in some way emulated on the Wii U? I remember some people saying that pressing the HOME button was the equivalent of that, but I don't recall if it could ever be tested (In some games, like Trace Memory, closing the DS is required to progress).

I'm on firmware 5.5.0. Any reason not to go on to 5.5.1?

Nintendo sells Zelda Phantom Hourglass on the eShop in some regions and the game is completable.

A quick peek online and sleep mode is activated by entering the virtual console menu or the home button.

So, which microSD will be better

Samsung Evo+ microSDXC 64GB U1 with Adapter (MB-MC64DA/EU)

OR

Samsung Evo microSDXC 64GB Class 10 U1 (MB-MP64DA/EU)?

Ah, cool. Didn't know PH was on VC (I'm guessing it's only on Europe). Thanks!

I was dumping a Snes VC last night and quit after about 15 minutes, and the Pc client said it was incomplete. Just curious if VC dumps also take a while, or if mine is getting stuck.

It shouldn't take 15 minutes let alone a minute to dump the game

If they're similarly priced (which they appear to be on Amazon), go for the Evo+.

Thanx!
So my little dusted WiiU is at 5.2.0E, should i update it or not?

Edit:
Oh well i guess that i have to or else i wont be able to use loadiine, i hope that it wont affect the Wii part (i have already softmodded it).

The only meaningful changes in 5.5.1 are security updates for the browser.

I'm getting an error about a System Update download, even though I'm on 5.5.1. Any way to get rid of this?

Anyone figure out how to get the save file from the console into Loadiine???

I want to backup all my games, but the only one I have tried so far didnt come with my save and I really dont want to start from scratch.

is 5.5.1 the latest version of Wii U firmware?

I haven't touched my Wii U in ages..should I buy a DS game so I can inject my own later?

So this means Nintendo is now past 5.5.1? Dang, hope this doesn't complicate things.

5.5.1 is the latest firmware at the moment. A failed system update is supposed to appear once you put on tubehax dns, due to the Wii U checking periodically for updates. Since it can't get its destination, it'll say the update failed, even though what failed has nothing to do with an update being available.

Start in loadiine, make a save.
Exit.
Move the /save contents to the folder that the loadiine made, reload.

Just downloaded Brain Age. Any N64 games i should get? Just want to be prepared. I have DK64 already though.

If you "just want to be prepared", I would recommend basically anything with stock coding for the "GPU". That said, I am not aware of anything on VC but DK64 that doesn't use that, so that's not much of a hint I guess...

With regards to "Place the two files inside the PC folder into C:WiiU", what does that mean?

On your C drive on your PC, create a folder called WiiU and place the titledumper.bat and titledumper.cmd (I think those are the 2 files, doing this from memory) in this folder. These are used to create a receiver for the files being ripped on the Wii U.

Giving up on learning how to inject SNES games. It's way over my head, just gonna wait for an emulator to release.

Inject MegaMan 64 on DK64, runs flawlessly :D
Wowsa! Too bad there wasn't a port of legends 2.

Is injecting n64 games any easier?

1.Check compatibility here
2.You need a base N64 game, it seems base is irrelevant, just pick whatever N64 VC you have, dump it with DDD.
3.Once dumped your game, go to rom folder, delete everything from there and place your N64 rom, ex: megaman.z64 (it's important it's big endian z64 file)
4.Go to config folder, delete all the .ini from there (they are for the original dump), and place the .ini from the compatibility wiki, this .ini must have the same name as your rom, in our example it should be: megaman.z64.ini
5.The main folder can be named as you wish, just remember put [IDNAME] at the end, in our example the main folder could be Mega Man 64 [N64MML] (the "N64MML" is made up, just make sure it´s a six char ID in brakets)
6.???
7.Profit!

Sorry not really follow, so I can open my disc/eshop game in loadiine, which would use my save in the system and the next time the games does a save, it would save in the sd card inside loadiine?

Cheers, man. Thank you for clarifying.

Yeah, I'm about done with trying to figure it out. I just want to play Goof Troop and the english translation of Marvelous on my Wii U.

Would this also work with SNES games?

Yeah. Open your DDD dump, it will have no saves. Start a game, save.
From the /save folder that DDD made when you did /vol there will be common and some number. One of those two folders will have a very small file.
Find that file on the loadiine directory in your sd card.
Replace the loadiine file with the DDD file.

It's amazing that Nintendo couldn't release more N64 VC games, the base emulator covers alot of games even third party ones!, it just need a little adjustment in an .ini file and boom, new game.

Has anyone tried Perfect Dark? It says "game stutters, but it is very playable" on the compatibility list. I'm just wondering what their definition of "very playable" is.
