An update for Wii U has been released, and you need to update the console to access eShop and other online stuff. Took me about two minutes to download and another to install.

Known changes:
- Improvements to overall system stability
- Apparently fixes the Bit.Trip Runner 2 system crash when exiting game to home screen (as reported by Videoman, with some evidence to the contrary, courtesy of Darkwish)


This is not the announced spring update which will improve load times and add functionality (most likely the Wii U Virtual Console service). That one will be released in April.
Another large update is planned for the summer period.

Version 2.1.3 U/E/J available via an Internet connection includes the following improvements:

Further improvements to overall system stability have been made.*

*The previously announced system update, which adds new features and further improvements to the user experience, will be released in April.

Seems like it actually updated the gamepad as well. Got this message.

Go to options then system update. That's what I did.

I did but it said there wasn't one. But I gave it a minute or two and tried again and then it found it.

I really hate how long it takes to load shit in the OS. It takes so damn long and it feels like we've been waiting for the update for the longest time.

I'm glad they're working on it and all that, but it really shows how far behind the curve they were coming into the present with the Wii U. This is by far their most complex OS on a console and they're even learning how to use programmable shaders in house now. I feel they missed out on learning about these these features due to the Wii being so dated. Better late than never though...

The Wii U Virtual Console was said to be released "some time around April", so that's a pretty safe bet.

Everytime I turn on my 360 I have an update. Mind you I don't turn it on all that often, but it kills my mood when I just want to hop on and play Trials for a few minutes.
