WiiU Preorders available at Gamestop.com

Pre-ordered my Wii U Deluxe with NSMBU.

There were three guys there with me when it opened and each bought two of the Deluxe bundles with two copies of NSMBU. They said the second ones were going on eBay day of launch.

So, yeah, I kinda hope you can just walk into a store and buy one just to screw these guys over.

So I'm gonna take a wild guess that this will the Christmas item of the year. Probably gonna preorder it next week and wait for the eventual shortage that will happen during the holidays like what happen with the Wii.

Gamestop.com doesn't charge til it ships, correct?

Of course they are taking preorders....that money goes into a high interests savings account and makes them money....give them your money.

I fail to see what is bad or unethical about this. A retail company making money from a service it provides? Get outta here! In what way could they spend pre-order money that would get your approval?

the iPad will probably be THE Christmas Item this year, but I'm sure the WiiU will do fine during the holidays. After that's probably where it might be a concern.

Preordered my deluxe Wii U at Gamestop and was surprised I was already #3. They had been only open for an hour.

Anyways, to those thinking about Amazon, remember two things:

1) Tax starts in CA this Saturday so it's not tax free to anyone in CA
2) The launch day is the 18th which is a Sunday so you may not get it till Monday or even Tuesday. I think I'm going to go local because of this. I remember it sucked waiting for my 3DS.

I was the first customer at my store to pre-order, apparently. I was at a StarBucks right across the way trying to watch the conference and went over immediately after it was over and got myself set up with a basic SKU.

Umm he was right. There really is no need to pre-order a game. He was straight-up lied to.

And you can say that without being a jerk to people. My comment was more directed at the "You're a fucking idiot" comment. Pretty much a no-no here to talk like that to your fellow users.

Possibly, or iPad mini. The taste of children certainly has changed. I don't know any that are remotely interested in 3DS, but they all want a Touch or iPad. They even got excited for the bloody Kindle Fire.

Technically it's not tax-free for anyone who lives in a state which has Use Tax (which I suspect is probably just about all 50 states). My wife and I pay Use Tax every April 15 on everything we buy on the Internet which isn't taxed by the retailer. Pain in the neck. I actually prefer to buy from companies which collect the tax for us so we don't have to keep track of it ourselves.

For those that pre-ordered in store: what does your receipt say as the item name/number? For the Deluxe unit mine says "020358 Available SKU 1". I just want to make sure I got the right thing pre-ordered.

Mine says the same for Deluxe. Made the GS guy check it twice to make sure, and he said it's the same, their system just hasn't updated with the actual names yet.

Yep. Says so on the product page.

I don't shop at Gamestop because of Amazon. It's brilliant that they do this.

Just came back from pre ordering a Deluxe, NSMB, Pikmin 3, Zombi U by my work.

On another note at my location the guys who work there said they had about 15 or so people pre order today so far and it's was only 1130 by the time I got there.

Now to head over to the 2 Gamestops by my house and order 2 more. I hope the demand is high and the supply is low for Christmas lol. Trying to make some bank!! Figure I will do 1 extra deluxe and 1 basic.

Out of curiosity I popped into a GameStop over by the University of Central Florida, and they had already done 22 pre-orders in 3 hours. The GM was also pressuring people into pre-ordering games because of the proprietary format. Ha.

To preorder in gamestop you have to drop 50 non-refundable bucks? Right?

Like if I cancelled I'd only get store credit?

Can I cancel on the Saturday before it releases? Like on the 17th if I want?

No, it should be fully refundable. They're going to fight you tooth and nail on it, since it does effect them, but you'll get it back however you paid for it.

Yeah it's actually just a measure to prevent GameStop employees from leaking announcements. Those SKUs were likely in the computers first thing in the morning. Tomorrow they will have proper names. We just did this for something else recently, although I can't remember what (CoD collector's editions maybe?)

Just don't make any sort of mention of your intentions. They will have the right to turn down your purchase as it's against their policy to do business with resellers or distributors. I know of a manager who kicked a reseller out of his store during the Wii launch for claiming he was just there to buy it and throw it on eBay and make money (in front of a bunch of people who legitimately wanted a system for the holiday).

Yup. Contrary to what any manager might tell you, all preorders are fully refundable at any time (in the same tender that it was payed in), and we do have record of what it was paid in within the computer, so you don't even need a receipt. The most you would need is identification to match you to the preorder. If they tell you otherwise you can ask for the number of the district manager.

I have an original 360 with a handful of games, controllers, and Kinect. Should I offer GS the 360 and sell the rest separate or just sell it all somewhere else as a lot?

Truly PATHETIC

I would do just that... Thanks.

Does anyone know what it costs to pre-order in-store if you don't have a GS card? I've heard people mention online orders and 25$ for members, but has anyone that doesn't have a card pre-ordered in-store yet?

Gross, let people who actually want them get them.

Ordered online b/c there really isn't a game I want on the launch so I can wait a few days for shipping.

Probably going to cancel and order from Amazon. Even with tax Amazon at least delivers it faster than Gamestop.

I'm stuck at work, but my wife goes into work later than I do most days. Sent her a text message asking her if she could go to GameStop and preorder my deluxe Wii U.

Just got a message back; VICTORY! >:D

How is it pathetic?

Maybe people need the money to you know, live?

If they need that money to live they shouldn't be buying a damn console in the first place.

Stop flipping and screwing over consumers.

Annnnd ordered.

Hoping Amazon comes through (doubtful) in which case I'll switch over to them.

Thanks for the heads up.

Get out of my head, stealing my posts. They tack on a lot of crap for shipping. I'll definitely cancel this if I can preorder at a store or get amazon. I already have amazon prime, so this $19 shipping charge from a store I don't like is bullshit. But, I don't want to wait, so I'm jumping at the first thing that comes my way.

Fuck that, it's a dick move. I don't look highly at scalpers, either. There is no way you can use the 'money to live' excuse if you are buying multiple videogame consoles to then flip them and charge other people more money because of the inherent supply and demand. He talked about buying 2 extra consoles to flip them. Dick move. He's not hungry if he has $600+ dollars to buy 2 extra consoles.

I pre-ordered mine at my local Gamestop around 1:30 PM Eastern Time and they already had a Pre-Order sign on the door. There was one person in front of me that also pre-ordered it. I asked if they had a lot already pre-ordered and he said they were going fast. He said they are limited in what they have available. Normally I wouldn't pay attention to Gamestop when they say these kinds of things, but I had already pre-ordered mine and payed, so he didn't have a reason to try and get me to pre-order it with those types of tactics.

Now, I have to wait again.......At least I know I SHOULD have mine on launch day :)

By that reasoning any and all forms of criminal activity involving money are also justifiable. And that's not to say scalping is a crime necessarily (well, sometimes/some places it can be).

But yeah, if you can afford to drop $1,000 in a single day, $350 of it on yourself, for the sake of ripping off other consumers closer to the holiday, I don't think you're desperate for money to live.
