Wild Arms creator teases 20th anniversary meeting

Other than Wild Arms 3, every Wild Arms to not release on the PS1 sucked, 4, 5, and the remake were boring, and the PSP strategy one was uninspired.

They should give the PS1 library the same treatment and re-release them on PS4, getting the first 3 games would be rad.

Sony clearly has shown no interest in managing JRPG genre

Theyre better off just selling or licensing their JRPG IP to a much better JRPG powerhouse like Nintendo

Anyway this event will result in Sony fans dissapointment and Wild Arms 3-5 for PS4 that includes useless crap like trophy which you need to rebuy and could already play at higher definition on PC

Not sure if serious but youve gotten Banned for NX port begging hmmm

This made me realise how long it's been. I remember WA5 coming out and them making a big fuss about it being the 10th Anniversary game. Now we're at the 20th Anniversary and there's been one title since then, so disappointing.

One of my favourite videogame series ever. Despite the flack they get, I really enjoyed 4 & 5, and 3 is one of my favourite games ever. Wasn't so keen on 1 (I know right!) and have yet to play 2, saving that one for a rainy weekend :)

Reading the article I just pictured them all meeting in a bar to look back on things, heh. Don't play with my emotions. I miss you, Wild Arms!

DON'T PLAY WITH MY HEART SONY.

Wild Arms is in my top 5 GOAT and the I can't think of another franchise that I love more. Don't give me false hope, you'll kill me.

I've had the first Wild Arms downloaded on my PS3 for the past two years or so now and I've never played it. Been meaning to get into this series for so long and it just hasn't ever happened. This backlog will never end, I swear.

Also, I love this random gif from one of the later installments...

As long as Alter Code F ends being forgotten...

Seriously... what a shame... after years wanting to play this version, when I finally played they ended animefying the story. =(

Not only that, they remade the systems and made it worse than the original IMO.

Some additions were welcome, though.

People always fall for your posts xD

They released a JRPG last year you know. I also like to support things that I enjoy.

Wild Arms HD Collection? Anything else would just be a pipe dream. When was the last time Sony developed and published a JRPG in-house?

sony never developed wild arms, it was media vision which is still a strong developer (recent projects include Digimon cyber sleuth, chaos rings, vc3, shining resonance) so there could still be a possibility of a new game

Sounds good. Are the PS2 games any good? I only played Wild Arms on PS1.

My rating goes: WA4 > WA:XF > WA2 > WA3 > WA1. Haven't played enough WA5 to rate it and I don't remember much of the WA1 remake. Oh and though I rate WA1 as the worst game in the series, it's still a pretty good game (with great music & that killer opening movie) as long as you can ignore the awful battle graphics & don't mind it being rather simple compared to the sequels.

I'll happily buy PS4 version of WA3-5. And WA2 could definitely use a remake if only to fix the questionable localization we got.

6 seems like a trick number for jrpgs. Some cross it successfully and join the pantheon of long-running series (FF, DQ), some come close but never reach it, ultimately staying in the shadows (Suikoden) and some end up in a crude bastardization of the series (Breath of Fire). Wonder where Wild Arms falls.

It's hilarious how he got banned for port-begging for a console that does not exist yet.

Yeah WA 5 was solid, I remember I was really surprised by the quality of some animations.

I would love a new Wild Arms that was a bit grittier. I love me some spaghetti westerns. I didn't like the specific anime style they started using in the games.

But I've really been hankering for a good spaghetti western RPG.

Remember. Wild ARMs 4 has given us one of the most ridiculous things ever seen in a video game: a man shooting missiles out of the sky with two revolvers, running out of ammo, and then punching the last one, while flying in the air by shooting at the ocean with said revolvers.

No. I am dead fucking serious.

I'm not going to get too excited over this. Bigger series have hit major anniversaries with nothing coming of it *cough*Metroid*cough*. It's a shame too. I really love the hex battle system they used in 4/5. If they combined that with the super western feel of the first three games we'd could've had a real gem.

Instead we got a SRPG and then a whole lotta nothin'.

Wild Arms: The 6th Round

FUND IT.

You know, I kind of regret getting rid of my copy of WA4.

Was the series any good? I remember getting Wild arms 1 and another game called Thousand Arms, ended up loving the second one while wild arms didn't stick on me for much so I never finished it :/ Haven't played the other games though.

While Wild ARMs has always used anime style and inspiration, it started to go overboard with its use of tropes. I don't mind anime influence(character designs, for instance), but when they start piling in the tropes, it gets out of hand.

And I don't mean to talk down to anime fans, but regarding games that started off as anime-inspried, but tried to do their own thing that eventually "de-evolved" into aping anime tropes "cause anime/manga fans love that shit...derpy derpy doo", a lot of those franchises ARE better than that sort of thing.

And people wonder why Wild Arms 4 is my favorite game in the series. Actually, it's mostly the great SRPG-lite gameplay & the awesomeness that is Raquel Applegate, but the ridiculously over-the-top anime cutscenes are definitely a factor.

Exactly the problem with Alter Code F. It's a remake of game I like the most, how the hell can they fuck up it? D:

Raquel is the strongest character ever, since she can take out Ragu O Ragula with a single attack.

WA4 had some serious quality issues, though. It was extremely dumb how your Lombardia sword or the Alter Code F carryover data would get wiped on New Game Plus. Wtf was that? Or how about the move "_hantom Line"? It's the first ability in the game, guys.

Some of these PS1 games can be rerendered at higher resolutions and looks fantastic. Just look at EPSXE or the like. I'd love if Sony did a more thorough remaster of some of these PS1 classics because they can really shine on the Vita / PS1.

Also since we are in fantasy land - I imagine them announcing a new Wild Arms for PS4 that's a remake of the first? That would be awesome.

That would be how they get $60 bucks or more from my wallet that's for sure!

Especially if it looks great!
