Much has been made of how the Wii is outselling all the other consoles. Part of this has to do with price, but a lot of it has to do with its controller. People really like the dongle. I've seen this firsthand. My friend has a Wii and a 360. When people end up at his house after a night of partying, they never want to play Halo 2. They always want to play the Wii. Drunk chicks really like the dongle.
So people say that peripherals never sell. But what if they were attached to a game that was going to sell like crazy? People seem to think that Singstar will sell 20 million units and turn this console generation around for the PS3. What if the Singstar controller was a dongle of sorts that worked for other games? All of a sudden, it's a whole different ballgame.
