Of course a $ 6-800 console won't ever come close to the high end $ 3-4000 PC (these PCs are not the standard in the PC-world, they are the minority and thus not what consoles should be benched against). Consoles are about ease of use and value for money especially early in the generation. Value for money compared to PCs diminishes over the course of the generation as what used to be mid/high in PCs becomes low end as the generation progresses.

Sony have turned roughly 100 million units so far this generation. From a business perspective, building games or even optimizing games for the very high end PC-space first is idiotic and frankly ridiculous. Sony meanwhile have a closed ecosystem on 100 million units, of course they would get the games optimized for it first. Therefore any new fancy tech is basically getting BETA-tested by high end PCs before the tech matures and mainstream catches up as high-end becomes mid-tier and is more affordable by the masses like consoles. If the PS6 gets 30gb RAM/VRAM and the ability to do PT okayish for example then that raises the bar across the industry and high-end PCMR should be exited about that fact.

Why do people with a good income (like myself) play on consoles instead of high end PCs even though graphics and tech is ahead of the consoles? Firstly time. I have kids, work long hours in finance, make good money but have very little time. It's not very time efficient playing on PC if I just want to play games, faffing around with fucking windows, chasing drivers and troubleshooting is not something I have time or patience for any longer. I used to play on PC but moved to console only during this generation.

It's doesn't come down to the hardware, but to the devs. Naughty Dog will make games that look truly next-gen but almost everyone else will continue to brute force even worse as the hardware gets stronger and ignore optimization. Also animation, camera work and facial models need to be up to ND levels for me to be impressed. An amateurishly made game doesn't suddenly look great just because they slap on some path tracing or whatever.

I'm thoroughly unimpressed by RE9 for example, even maxed out on PC.

Visuals have a longgggggggggg way to go...

1.) I agree, but you aren't getting the intended version
2.) Normal colors aren't the standard , YOU are altering the colors too much by turning off things, but I do agree that some post processing effects destroy image quality TOO much.
3.) I agree with this, but again you aren't getting the intended version which is a big deal because it sets nuance like mood etc.

Lastly DLSS5 is A.I. slop filter garbage and looks horrible, artificial and eyes straining. DLSS5 is a cheap and lazy way to add fidelity and destroy art direction so that the greedy industry can fire dev teams and generate generic garbage for cheap. DLSS5 will destroy gaming. Visuals in the future should look like those actual rendered tech demos not A.I. slop.

EDIT: This is the future of visuals.
