Will Ridley ever make it in a Smash Bros game?

Came here to post that awkward zombie comic. Got beaten to it tho. :p

I'd rather see other characters I think. An Advance Wars character would be awesome.

Here. For the new page!

Aside from Ridley's obvious size his design has too much going on with his head being so long, his giant wings and his long-ass tail it would be an absolute pain for him to work. People like to show that shot in the intro of Melee which doesn't really apply considering Brawl had his as a boss and he even appears in Sm4sh in his regular size. Look, I love Ridley. He's my favorite monster from anything ever but he just doesn't work. The only way he would appear in Smash is if there was a Metroid game that changed his shape(not size) or if he has another form in that game for some reason(something along the lines of him having some kind of body or vessel to fight in smaller spaces) and his regular form is his Final Smash. Otherwise it ain't happening.

It would directly contradict his potrayal in brawl so no, I don't think it'll happen. I prefer him as a Boss character anyway.

How angry would people be if the next Smash didn't have Ridley but it did have one of those Federation Force mechs and at their proper scale too?

So is Bowser.
Bowser's been every size imaginable, they even explain it in some games with Kamek changing Bowser's size on request. That plus Bowser is more easily scaleable. The same applies for Olimar, at least as long as the size difference between him & the Pikmin is mostly the same as in the Pikmin games.

I don't know about you guys but
Ike is MY BOY.

I think I prefer a Smash 4 port with more content than a Smash 5 proper. Regardless of what we get I would much rather get back the characters we've lost, mostly Snake and Wolf before any new ones are introduced.

Also, didn't Sakurai state this would be his last Smash Bros.? I heard he overworked himself on this one and got sick throughout development.

If they were lazy they could just give him a variation of Charizard's moveset

Charizard doesn't have the proportions and build of a flying skeleton dragon, his attacks have meat in them. Like it'd be odd if Ridley piledrives an enemy.

GOOD. Get some new blood in here already.

Olimar is microscopic, and guess what, he's in, after being upscaled.

Ridley is too big, but he could be downscaled.

As long as they don't add Toad, enough. He sucks, and we already have enough Mario characters.

I think one day we'd get Ridley as Sakurai does know how popular he is, its just he has to go through the same spirit awakening he had with Villager, Pac Man and the Miis.

Too big? Like seriously come on.

People say that, then suddenly they see Mother getting less attention, Metroid even getting less, etc.

It's not just scaling though.

Ridley looks ridiculous when small. His overall build just doesn't really share itself well even if he's just as big as Bowser. Hell, there's that mod that uses Ridley skin and it was awful.

I honestly think he is better off as a boss. Wish Metroid had more characters but that should be expected from a series of games in which feeling alone is/was one of the key features.
Also, I would never want to see Smash without Sakurai. His dedication and attention to detail would be really hard to match.

I mean, Simon Belmont can fight Optimus Prime in Dream Mix TV World Fighters.

Hell, you can play as Galactus in MvC3.

How's that comparable to not being able to shrink a gigantic character to an appropriate size without making him look stupid as hell?

They just need to use young Ridley from Metroid: Other M! It's the perfect size for the roster:

His Final Smash will be him transforming into his adult form.
I used to like the idea of having the baby Ridley playable (besides the fact that acknowledging that Ridley design would make people mad by default), who would then over the course of a game evolve. No idea what the evolution should be triggered by, and in the end it'd still lead to a character with the most awkward body to develop, having like 7 limbs clip various stage elements and characters at all times.

If there's one person who could make it work, I'd still bet on Sakurai, but it might not end up as what people actually had in mind when they were begging for Ridley, so it'd be a waste anyway. Like him sitting in a small vessel and you'd only get to see one limb at a time, depening on what button you press like someone else said.
