In my opinion Spaceballs is the greatest parody ever. I will watch that over any modern parody movie.

Spaceballs is okay, but it's not anywhere near as good as Blazing Saddles, which I would count as a parody of Westerns.

I can't pick which movie I love more. They are both absolutely fantastic. "where all the white women at?" "we aight found shit" with the big fucking comb. I die every time.

I'm going to remind people here of the shit stream of parody movies that came out 6 years ago.

Just looking at the posters you can see the issue with those movies. They just cram as many recent and popular upcoming or recently released movies and references in as possible for no real reason and saying "Hey look, here's Superman. He's had a movie recently!".

I rewatched Spaceballs a few years ago. It was the first time I'd seen it since I was a kid. Turns out Spaceballs is terrible. The only part that made me laugh was "We ain't found shit!"

I think the problem is that it doesn't really age well, especially since comedy is a genre that changes throughout the decades.

Part of the reason there's such a drop between Blazing Saddles & Spaceballs is that Brooks is aiming for the cheap seats almost entirely in Spaceballs, and his collaborators/contributors aren't up to snuff, either. He had Richard Pryor on Blazing Saddles. He had some dudes dragging the desert with an afro pick in Spaceballs.

Naked Gun is indeed one of the best. i'll leave Hot Fuzz and SOTD out because they seem much more like their own movies than just parodies, but Zucker-Abrams-Zucker in the '80-'90 rocked it

Pretty much every parody that wasn't made by those cpl of writers of scary movie 3 is better then space balls.

Hell Id rather watch shriek if you know what I did last Halloween lol
