That said, No man. They don't own the crash IP. Their response was very different for crash than for SOCOM.

I'd definitely recommend the PS4 Last of Us remaster for tactical 3rd person multiplayer.
I saw Insurgency recommended. That's a great game, but it's pretty different from Socom.

There was a mod for insurgency that remade a lot of classic SOCOM maps. I think it was called Resurgence, not sure what happened with it. Think it's the same guy who made he CS:Go SOCOM mod.

no game will ever match socom 2 for me. it was such a pure game compared to how bloated shooters are now.

I really wish the loud minority would stop stating SOCOM 2 as the definitive version of the series.
It was by and far the worst. The hit detection and lag was horrible and rendered it unplayable for me.
SOCOM 1 AND SOCOM 3(SMALL MAPS) were the series best.

And those games were a lot more fun to me just based off the intensity and tension alone.

It's funny this thread has been necro bumped... Do you guys realize tomorrow is Socom 2's 13th anniversary?? I still remember sitting in French class in high school, soooo eager for class to end so i can go home and find socom 2 in my mailbox.

A lot of people agree about SOCOM 1. The problem though was that SOCOM 1 one of the first online ps2 games so it had so many bugs and network issues. SOCOM 2 was by no means perfect in that regard but there was times that SOCOM 1 wasn't even functional.

Confrontation just took too long to be fixed. Once it was, it was solid. Still had alot of issues though.l

Playing Combined Assault this Friday at 10pm CST and a buddy streaming it out for its 10th birthday. Easily search for SOCOM in Twitch around that time otherwise dust off that PS2 and come join via X-Link. You can find the 'real' SOCOMers at the website and join in on the memories too.

Sony could copy paste Socom 2, click enhance, and sell it like crazy. Seriously. Locked 60fps, even better hit detection, same gun/gameplay, and crazy good animations and graphics, and BF-like audio. Finally, lobbies and clan ladders again. Only new content needed are new dances.
Sony needs to get the balls and G^ to do SOCOM 2 Re-enlisted, and MAG 2 while they're at it.
