I have a ROG Ally X so it is redundant for me. I can't believe it only has 16 gigs of ram! Z2 chip looks intriguing but it isn't enough of a leap for me to upgrade.

Understandable, I think this thing is mostly appealing to those who haven't tried Windows handhelds yet. (…or are just using a Steam Deck and want access to Gamepass and the multi launcher usage, the Deck is fantastic until you want to go outside Steam)

Btw, as far as I know the slimmer Windows version will come to other handhelds too so you should get something out of all this either way once they roll it out. Don't know what it does though but not having full Windows in the back seems like a good thing, who knows it might give you less headache over the RAM.

Going from the Deck I'm concerned about not having a touch pad. How's that working on the old Ally? I assume that mouse pointer games are out of the picture but what about when a dialogue box pop up? Does the joystick mouse cursor thing always, 100%, work? Or is it like on my living room PC where I have to plug in a mouse or keyboard with touch pad sometimes? 😵‍💫

In The post I made that you responded to with this video, the conversation was about the Z2 Go in the Legion Go S.
Well I guess you are correct in that regard. I was thinking the thread was referring to the Ally X. The Ally isn't a good deal, but it's not offensively bad.

No, mix of reasons. I think the design with the controllers sticking out is ridiculous and yuck at asymmetrical sticks. Also, it's not powerful enough for what I want. The price is comparable to other machines of the same power but a new generation of handhelds is already coming out in China. Granted GPD Win 5 is such a stupid design change from the Win 4 but I have hopes for the Win Mini revision for 2026. If that falls flat on its face, I may just go for a different Asus product instead. I've been eyeing the Z13 for some time now.

No.

Too expensive and I don't own that many games on Xbox anyway.
Don't know if you just call Microsoft Store "Xbox", but just to be clear - This is not an Xbox console in any way. This is a PC.

So you don't need to own any Xbox games.
You play Steam games on it, Epic games, Microsoft Store games, Battlenet games, Ubisoft games, Gamepass games, emulator games, your own Unity games, whatever you have around on your PC.

Ironically, you can't play a single Xbox game on this "This is an Xbox" natively, only streamed through the cloud or remotely streamed from a console.
There might be a possibility to run OG Xbox and 360 games through a third party emulator. Unfortunately I don't know how the performance is, I'll definitely check that out once I get it.

It plays PC games not Xbox ones
If people on gaming forums don't fully understand this then imagine how it's gonna go with the rest of the population. Great job MS marketing.

My prediction....

Yup, a work in progress project as I thought. if this is true then we'll see all games working on this machine which is the most interesting thing about it.
