Will you go all-digital with the next consoles?

I'm sick of having plastic bins and shelves full of plastic boxes and discs and carts and what not. As I get older, the less clutter I have around me, the better. I'm leaning towards all digital for everything from now on. I never really sell my games anyways.

the only game I'm ok with digital is older classics like ps1 titles being made available for cheap, and even then I only get the ones that I already have disc copies of, but don't have to whip out the ol' PS1 just to play. All physical for me, if gaming ever went all digital I honestly would likely find a new hobby (have several as it is anyways)

Nope, not unless the prices come down.

That should be everyone's #1 answer.

There is no reason, no reason, a boxed, designed, shipped, and packaged item should be the same price as a download.

I look forward to all you physical only types crying when the PS5 and Xbox 1080 come around with no optical drive but backwards compatibility with digital purchases like what happened with the Vita. Anyone with half brain knew there was no future for UMDs and went pure digital for PSP and were rewarded.

Considering that, with digital sales, manufacturers don't have to deal with a supply chain or retail markup, I can't justify spending as much for a digital copy as a retail copy. The entire overhead for digital is the pennies it costs to transfer the data and store my account information. Not to mention that digital copies can't be resold, and that needs to be reflected in the price.

I would love to go all digital. Unfortunately the pricing model that the consoles have now has no economic advantage for me. As has been said before, Valve is the only company that understands digital sales at the moment. I hope that changes soon.

Any of the big games I want day one, I'll probably get digitally. Anything that's not a 'must-have' game, I'll probably wait for sales or price drops.

Never, as long as they keep MRSP price on the digital games.

If they rival Steam, then yeah, sure.

I can't fathom how people go out and become "all-digital" when all games usually get a discount real quick after release.

Even games right now, they usually give you some form of Gift-Card if you pre order. $10-$20 guaranteed day one. I also love the "open box" games Amazon usually has. You can get a game a few days old for about $30-$40.

So no, I hardly see the benefits for me to go all digital.

Well going off how Sony price their full games at the moment... No fucking way. Most games are 90 to 100 Australian dollars, which is about 94 to 105 of your American monopoly money. I can get the same game on disc in Australia for 70 to 80 or 50 to 70 from Asia.

Sony need to take a leaf out of Valves play book, otherwise my 500gb will fill up with PS+ freebies.

I would if I had a worthy connection. What I have now is only good for occasional downloads as it takes far too long (4 or 5 days for 16 GB) and my download is capped (15GB per month with my current plan). Living in a third world country sucks.

Thank You.

not only do i prefer cases and such but i also lend games to friends and such so no digital for me unless it was like 15 dollars off

also download times.. no thanks considering a demo is usually 1 gb plus.

Due to Steam, GMG & GOG, I've become very used to digital gaming. If MS and Sony can offer a compelling reason to go digital only (i.e Price and Library structure), I will certainly consider it, however, bargain bins and 2nd hand prices mean I will still probably get some at retail

I love having a collection. Bought one Vita game through the PSN and immediately regretted it. As long as I have the choice, physical it is.

Bandwidth caps will prevent me from going all digital: thanks to Steam sales and PSN sales, I passed my limit 3 times in 2012, had to call and beg my ISP to not shut off my service. Technology in our country (the US) is truly at the mercy of the greedy data service providers, and it sucks.

I wouldn't mind it... I'm already 100% digital on PC. I especially don't mind it since most physical releases are bare bones, with a two page black and white manual that shows just the control layouts, and some cheapo recycled case. If it were still like in the 90s where each manual was literally the size of a bible, I would definitely stay physical.

If all games are available day one digital and I can preload them you bet your ass I'm going all digital. So convenient to not have to get off my ass to play a game

Like many others I will only go all digital on a console that only supports digital. I have nothing against downloaded games and own many, but my preference will always be physical media when it is offered.

Depends on the game.. Five out of my last six PS3 purchases have been digital. Ni No Kuni is the first disk based game I've purchased in a while.

Only titles Im considering getting digital are Art Academy, Brain Age, and Wii Fit U but other than that no. I like my physical media. Maybe in the future I'll buy digital copies along the physical ones if they have sales and when Nintendo gets their account stuff together.

It's funny, whenever I buy a game digitally, I almost always end up seeking a physical copy at some point. So I need to just stop buying games digitally if they also have a physical option. It's stupid to be buying the same game twice.

Here is another reason. Australia in all her glory is rolling out FTTH to most of the country, it will take years. This generation will be a couple of years under way before I get 1000 Mbps to my house. Add that there is a federal election in 9 months, and the likely replacement government will honor existing contracts but stop rolling it out further.

Vita has reminded me that I fill up drives really quickly. Also some ps3 Digital games are huge. I'm not a fan of the vita carts (they can be easy to lose) but I'm good with buying Blu rays.

If I were a handheld gamer, I would definitely go all digital but I own neither a 3DS or Vita so it doesn't matter. With consoles, however, I will go for the physical copy every time. Much prefer having a disc/case, like putting them on a shelf to see or look at, and there hasn't been a real incentive (in terms of discounts) to get digital copies. If there were substantial deals (that match how quickly the price drops at retail) I would start to think about it but I think I will be physical until its not really an option anymore. I had to be dragged into going digital with music but that was mostly due to moving 3,000 miles away and not having room for my hundreds of CDs, an issue I don't see arising with games.

I also share games with my brother and vice versa so it saves me from having to buy my own copies of certain games.
