Will you install computer chips in your brain, Deus Ex style?

I've done nothing with my life except eat and fap
Unless there is need for that (I.e. disability for example) - yes or no?

Me: totally no.

Yes. As long as it's not irreversible. Like if something goes wrong, I'd want to know they can remove it without rendering me brainless and/or dead.

Along those same lines, I have always wondered how many people would be willing to have their eyes replaced with cybernetic eyes if those eyes could receive visual information at pretty much equal quality to natural eyes, but with bonus features such as optical zoom, night vision, flare compensation, etc.

As for computer components implanted in my brain? I'd never be able to afford it.

Totally depends on the benefits and cons. If they are pure benefits with no cons, I would have no moral problem whatsoever.

Deus Ex however makes me sceptical.

never

i find shit like this scary enough

forget about a chip in my brain which the govt has backdoor access to

edit: if i had an accident and it could restore my vision or hearing then i might consider it - if it was only designed for that purpose

Depends on what it could do. If we're talking full perception of VR worlds, hell yeah. If it just makes it easier to update Foursquare and forces pop-up ads over your eyes, then I wouldn't be in a rush.

After having used payWave for so long, im so ready to install a chip inside me.
Im this close to chopping the antennae out of my credit card to abuse without having to pull anything out of my wallet.

ANyone know the location of the EMV Antennae on a Visa cards?

I will get the bare minimum setup installed just to anger anti-augmentation reactionaries. Anything else will be for the actual functionality.

like any new hardware, I will wait for it to go through a revision or two with beta tester customers first

Yup. But as far as the concept goes, hell yes, bring that shit on. I will take the full-on "brain-in-a-cybernetic-body" Ghost in the Shell treatment should the opportunity present itself.

Oh yeah I love pay wave. Having the chip under a finger tip would be awesome.

100% totally and without a single doubt yes.

If they had that tech right now, and it provided even some mild cognitive improvement or BCI interaction, I would win at life if I took it.

I was thinking of that as I clicked on the thread. I'm in, transhumanism ftw.

If I was in a serious car accident and it could potentially save my life, then of course I would. Otherwise, no, I would not.

I would gladly take Jensen's robo eyes in all seriousness. My eyes are crap and seem to now be getting a little worse every year. But I wouldn't put a chip in my brain, especially not after playing Deus Ex HR.

....unless they throw in the badass robo shades too. Then I'll consider it.

No, I'm not messing with that willingly. That outer limits episode where they functioned on electronic devices to live scared me off of that.
