Will you quit gaming if everyone goes all digital?

Of course I won't. I enjoy the hobby too much to let something like that prevent me from taking part in it. I'm completely digital already when it comes to gaming.

I won't quit gaming but I will be much more cautious with my purchases.

This.

I sometimes take chances on random games, as I know that if they turn out to be terrible, I can at least trade them in. In the all-digital future, this wouldn't happen so often.

No, it will fix Backwards compatible problems for sure, letting my library continue onto everything.

Plus I won't have to deal with retards on RFD trying to exploit/abuse every promo and the shit I have to put with retailers.

I think so.

I've got plenty of old systems and there's nothing better than to dig one out and fire it up when you get the urge to play a particular game from years gone by.

With digital I'm under no illusions that sooner or later this won't be possible as the systems and servers will be switched off.

In 10 or 20 years time I'll still be able to play old SNES or Genesis titles, do you think that's going to be true for the 720 or PS4 that long after their release?

I doubt it, so I'm out.

My library since I switched to PC is pretty much all digital already (mostly Steam). The only effect this would have on me is that I'd buy no console games since their DD prices are terrible.

If consoles go all digital with the same prices as retail is currently, I'll switch to PC gaming. Retail prices are way too expensive if you can't resell the games.

lol man you guys are drama queens. no, i won't stop gaming if everything goes digital.
Seriously. If something that small can remove you from the hobby, then I can assume you were nevery really a cog that helps keep the gaming wheel turning anyway. You won't be missed.

Locked down, digital only, RRP charging stores on consoles will probably stop me from playing console games anymore.

Still, PC gamers are free to choose from a number of stores, keeping prices in check. You never know, the reduction in console game sales might boost the PC market.

Completely digital on the PC. So no. Fast uncapped broadband is a reality so downloading games via a platform such as Steam is quicker than going to the shops.

Digital needs to hurry up and be the standard. Being able to get games whenever i want and not worry about shit going away is the main reason i want it.

No. I think I only bought one retail game this year (Metal Gear HD Collection). I'm not even sure the next time I'll be buying a retail title. Probably 'The Last of Us'.

Bad question.

Of course I won't QUIT GAMING, if everyone goes all digital.

But I won't buy NEW digital releases.

I just bought Freddy Pharkas and Eco Quest 1 on CD. So many games out there.

No I won't quit.

At the end of the day, gaming is about...wait for it... playing games!

Yes, I would be sad to see physical media go. I like opening a new game, smelling the fresh plastic smell inside, and what not...but physical media is already going down the crapper. Look at EA games for example. They no longer include a manual in the box, and you just get a black and white printed piece of paper that reads "hey thanks for helping us save paper, the manual is on the disc, kthxbye."

I'm sure it's going to happen eventually. I will accept it and still enjoy gaming. Just won't have a "collection" to go along with it. Not the end of the world though.

I use Gamefly for games I'm not positive I will like.

The only thing that would happen is I will play far fewer games. I would only purchase those that I'm sure I would like.

And no, research isn't enough for me. I learned that the hard way with the likes of Uncharted.

Digital is not a bad thing. It makes buying games easier, faster, and allows some games that would otherwise not be localized to be released.

One of the things the Vita absolutely does right is that every game gets a digital release, and almost all are also released in physical form.

My Steam library is filled with digital titles already. Consoles maybe, they don't manage to do that very well, but stuff like PSN+ is really convincing me otherwise.

It will entirely depend on the pricing. I suspect I will be more likely to collect infinite demos than to actually buy in to any unknown quantities.

I won't stop playing video games, but I'll go 100% retro until those games are no longer available. Slow download speeds, storage limitations, and inability to trade/sell/return games that I wind up disliking all turn me off on digital.

I'm already seeing the shift. I would have bought Warriors Orochi 3 for PS3 if it was released here in the US on disc. I would've bought Ken's Rage 2 on disc for PS3 when it comes out, but digital-only means no sale.

It's a matter of adapting. If current or next-gen games try to force my hand to digital, I'll just play what I have and focus on collecting and retro gaming than give any more money to an industry whose direction I don't agree with.

No.

But I will wait until bigger price drops before I buy console games digitally due to their ass-backwards DRM (especially Nintendo).

I worry about console backwards compatibility. All the sales in the world don't mean squat if they take away your purchases every six years or so...

If the game is way cheaper I'll bite into it further, but purchases WILL surely go down. Am the person who loves physical media more.

Depends on how well consoles handle it too.

FOR EXAMPLE, let's say I want to buy Halo 4. Let's say I'm willing to pay full price even.
It's not on On Demand right now. The game is plastered all over xbox live, but I have to buy a box. Sony's doing a decent job with PS+ discounts, but it's still not enough. We'll see how Nintendo handles it.

If there's ever an apocalypse I won't be able to play my digital games!

I only like collector's edition hard copies.

I will not quit, but I will end up playing way fewer games. With used games I can get in there and try things I normally wouldn't play for 10-15$. If I'm going to drop 60$ on a game it is going to be a triple A big name blockbuster that I know I will enjoy.
