There are way too many challenges available in tennis.

I'm sick of the spamming that occurs late in a set. There should only be 1 for every set of the match, so 5 for a five set match and 3 for a three set match. They should be all available from the start, and when used are retained if the challenge is successful, and lost when unsuccessful.

Not like Muller had a chance of keeping up that level long enough to win three sets anyway... but still great effort.

Pretty sure there are only three available for the match normally... am I wrong?

3 for each set, 1 additional for tiebreaks.

That's the way it is... if you were right you keep it, if not you lose one. You get one extra if there's a tiebreak.
Anyways they only take like 5 seconds, better than the alternative of a blown call ruining a game.

So being the defending champ and ranked 1 isn't enough to get Centre Court? People said it's about popularity, and Murray maybe is, but are Azarenka and Roddick really more popular than Nadal?

Popularity, spectator interest, previous courts of players, ranking/seeding, time of day and so on.

It's apparently due to tournament planners and officials trying to be fair.

The Telegraph said:
John McEnroe was among those to question the decision, saying: “I’m surprised with their choice because Roddick-Hanescu is not one I see as a Centre Court match. I’d have understood perfectly if they’d put Andy [Murray] on Centre Court. If you look at the other Grand Slams... they help their players out.”

So who is responsible for Wimbledon’s order of play?

- Andrew Jarrett, the tournament referee, meets with the Tennis Committee to decide which matches are played on which courts, and in which order.

There is a 29-point explanation of the guidelines governing how the order of play is arrived at, and perhaps the most instructive is point 25, which reads: “Wimbledon has to be seen to be even-handed and fair, giving due weight to local and national sentiment, and maintaining an international approach. Fairness has to take precedence over sentiment and nationalism.”

- It was the third time that Murray has played on Court One, as he also did so in the summer of 2005, when he played Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic in the second round, and also in the first round of last year’s Championships, against another Czech player, Jan Hajek.
Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer appeared on Court One last summer, so all four of the top four seeds competed away from Centre Court.

“In the interests of fairness, the top plays and seeds can’t play all their matches on Centre Court, so we have to move them around a bit. This was the day that we decided to move Murray to Court One,” said Ian Ritchie, the chief executive of the All England Club. “We always make it clear to all ticket-holders that there is no guarantee of who you are going to see. In the past, we’ve put Federer and Nadal on Court One. In the interest of all players, and in the interest of all players, we have to find a balance.”

- Tim Henman, who is a member of the organising committee, supported the decision for Murray to play on Court No 1. “It’s important that Court One is supported. It’s a brilliant show court. I think it’s important that those guys play out there. I’m all for that. You’re very fortunate now if you have a Centre Court ticket, as with the roof you’re guaranteed play. But therefore it is important that Court One is supported as well,” Henman told Telegraph Sport.

During Henman’s Wimbledon career, he did not always play on Centre Court, either.

the tennis world has caught up to him his whole career, basically

Nah c'mon man. The guy was gun. Federer was just in his way at every moment he could have joined the best of the best.

why?

The guys 28 now and the tennis world has caught up to him. Don't expect much of a challenge from him now...

"Caught up to him"? You make it sound like Roddick was some unstoppable force when he was younger. He has 1 grand slam title.

Jesus christ.. Ivanovic is hot..

Is there a place that keeps up with the score of Haase/Fish somewhere?
Looks like it's over, Fish won, not sure what caused Haase to stop. The official Wimbledon site has live scores and espn3.com has streaming from most of the courts if you have access to it.

He stopped? Ehh. Well that explains why no streams showed up. Thanks

Hopefully Federer Nalbandian is going to be sweet

Lol Ivanovic is out.

It's so sad that she's not able to play a good major anymore.

Her head doesn't seem to be in the right place. The biggest disappointment is that she actually won her major for her top ranking....I've no idea what happened after.

That bloody bit of wall below the scoreboard on Centre Court. Every time a right-handed player does a slice out wide, it hits that little wall and bounces back into the court, messing up the ballboys/girls job. Why can't they put some cushioning on it like everywhere else?

agreed, he could've at least had a couple of Wimbledons under his belt were it not for the GOAT
