Wow, do you really need all those icons on the bar at once? I tend to have only the most important of programs there, and pin anything I wouldn't use 24/7 to the start menu. >.<;

I use most of them fairly frequently. I have the screen space, so why not? I never need to open the start menu or go in to a folder now. Everything is there, ready to be clicked.

So easy and quick. Love it.

Small icons, combine always, vertical taskbar on the left.

I can't imagine using the large icons, even with a vertical taskbar. They just seem to draw way too much attention at that size for some reason.

I can understand the preference differences between big and small icons, but not combining icons always baffled me.

It's made that way for a reason, it increases productivity. Once you get used to it (hint, hint) you will see how much more efficient it is.

Reminds me of people who want the ribbon UI to die and want menubars to come back.


That being said I use small on both my netbook and desktop. For my netbook it's because i need all the screen real estate I can get. On my desktop...i just think it looks sleeker. Taskbar on the side is baller as well, everyone should try it out.


"technically" small taskbar on the bottom/top uses the least amount of pixels btw.

Top bar for life. Real G's know. Top bar, small icons, no start orb, and always combine.

Yep. Especially on my netbook. Autohiding taskbar with small icons is a must.

Why would anyone not like combining the icons?
It saves space and organizes icons (if you have few pdf documents opened, all of them are in one place).

I don't need to save space when it comes to the taskbar. Not combining icons just allows for faster access to windows. If I have multiple instances of Firefox open, and the Downloads window open for it, these all get grouped under the same combine icon. Not combining them allows for faster easier access to these windows with simple worded labels.

Even if it was one, it'd be worth it. If you're using big icons on a display that isn't something ridiculous like 2560 etc, you're just a horrible human being and you probably like Nickelback.

I also uncheck the "view Desktop icons" options and hide the taskbar so idly all I see is the background art.

I do. The larger icons are bloody massive! I don't know why you'd ever need icons that big, unless you absolutely cannot aim your cursor.
