Doesn't WP7 let you highlight and search?

Bing should recognize a tracking number. At least the desktop version does, hopefully Bing on WP7 gets updated. It's shitty in comparison to the other platforms.

from a web page yes... you can hold a word to highlight and hit the Search Bing button and it will search for word but does not work in email or whatnot (yet)
 
Here's wpcentral's full review on the HTC Arrive.

I'm so glad they gave it a positive review because I have been waiting for a wp7 on Sprint since they announced one in November. I was started to get worried about jumping on board though with how everyone here has been so (seemingly) negative recently. I was going to try and wait a little while before getting it to see if any obvious problems pop up in the first week or so, but I'm so hyped I can't hardly wait for Sunday. I'll post back if I end up getting it this weekend.

No silly... just that if you haven't noticed every weekend I've called it that I'd hit the next weekend without the update. I was just reconfirming I made it through the week, and being silly. :P

Um, what's wrong with releasing an update on Friday or Saturday? Best time for the user imo as phones are more critical during the weekday.

is the worst time to release an update are you crazy? monday-tuesday are the best days to update major things, cause if something breaks you have work week to try to fix it.

For the user maybe, but not for the support staff and devs, in case something goes wrong (as it always does).

I don't think many people are using Windows Phone 7 for business. The support staff issue is much more pressing.

I don't like the UI changes. I appreciate that they want to give the users more screen real estate, but adding an additional step to access the tabs and favorites sucks. The fullscreen browsing in landscape is gone, too, but I guess most people would rather have the control bar in landscape mode.

I like that the change makes the UI more consistnt with the rest of the OS but i think Microsoft should enabled users to pick which controls appear above and below the fold.
 
The update is getting pushed out tomorrow folks. BELIEVE.

Also, what's the point of staring at a fully functional IE9 build six months in advance? (and I'm being optimistic on the release date) If it's ready, just release that shit already or unleash it this summer. Bundling stuff together into gigantic updates (that they then screw up and delay) is the biggest reason I likely won't be a WP7 user for the balance of the year, as much as I love the interface.

Putting out beta builds like developers already do on the marketplace is also apparently too damn sensible to happen. It proved super successful for IE9 desktop and windows 7, so obviously the powers that run windows phone won't implement it. Cause they are assholes.

How are people at Microsoft supposed to be excited about the future of Windows Phone 7 when stuff gets just released as soon as possible?

While I think that IE9 on WP7 is still in deep beta, I completely agree with you. What's the point of decoupling the browser from your OS, when you don't deliver any stand alone updates? And where are the cross platform features like syncing favorites or sending a page to the desktop/phone? Why do I have to use 3rd party apps for that?

Ok, after a small fiasco with my iPhone bowing out three months before the end of my contract, I finally upgraded to WP7, going with the Focus.

Quick impressions, slick. Browser is an average experience. Love the UI. App selection nearly completely suits my needs versus where I came from and what I was using. ZUNE PASS on the phone is marvelous.

I remember something about microSD compatibility earlier in the year, did some googling and it's still fuzzy. For the Focus owners who have upgrade their microSD, could you point me to what you're using? Any issues I need to be aware of? Official WP7 compatible microSD cards aren't out yet correct?

AT&T buying T-Mobile is crazy.

I haven't seen any "official" sd cards.. I've been using a 16GB Sandisk that I bought and I haven't encountered any problems. I haven't gone over 8GB of storage either, though.

I think the official word on the Focus and MicroSD cards is: "Don't".
 
There doesn't seem to be a new Episode of Windows Phone Weekly. Instead they made a blog post about their great new App MSN Onit. It's obviously not available anywhere but the US.

I think it's very good that Microsoft doesn't just simply release their own Apps everywhere. We have quality standards in Europe and these need to be met. I also think there is a lot of licensing involved and I am happy to see that Microsoft is constantly working on things that can vastly improve my Windows Phone 7 experience. Just like Podcasts. I wouldn't want to download a 7-kilobyte fix to make Podcasts available on my PC. Instead, I'll just wait until the quality standards of Microsoft and their partners are met. :)

My friend is still on unlimited with AT&T. You could be grandfathered in as well.

It's not like you actually need to go through the whole 3 years up here. I'm on my third phone (2 BBs and now a Focus) in the past 2 1/2 years and that is all within my "3 year contract".

Very few people that I know of will stay with their contract for the full 3 years. They will either upgrade their hardware early or change to a new carrier. Sometimes you will have to pay a penalty, but what I've seen it usually isn't that significant.
 
Hey guys, got a wierd email issue with my HD7.

It's lost sync with hotmail, and refuses to sort itself out. It did the same with my Gmail, and I've deleted and re-added that (which fixed it), but as my hotmail is tied in directly with the phone, I'm at a loss.

Any suggestions?
 
I tried the SuperTube App to see if the videos play in there. They don't. No one at Microsoft gives a shit about my problem... Great!

And yeah, I don't understand why they would not push this out when it's done it would generate a lot of goodwill for Windows Phone 7.

I don't know if its in the specific video you're referring too, but all of the IE9 demo videos I saw from SXSW were done using an ASUS dev phone.

It's the Garmin-Asus E600. After Garmin and Asus broke up the joint venture, Asus decided not to release the phone, so the few prototypes they produced are now dev phones.

I fully expect the update today. But not for me. I think at&t owners will be among the last to get it.

Also, not only can I see that YouTube video you posted, but the thumbnail shows up on the neogaf webapp. I have no idea what your issues could be.

Me neither, but if it's not fixed with NoDo I'm going back to the iPhone or maybe even Android. T-Mobile (Germany) already offered me a great contract in case I want to come back to them.

I'm now at a point where I just accept that Windows Phone 7 is not what I want it to be and that there's no chance it will be useful (for me) before 2012. Microsoft actively advertises YouTube on their official Windows Phone 7 page so I'm sure I can get a full refund from them for not delivering on their promise.
