Windows Store Applications

As Google Reader is going the way of the dodo, are there any free W8 Apps for that sort of thing with similar functionality (I only need mouse over=mark as read, pin article)

edit: I am a dumb ass, News Bento was mentioned above... can you make it so that Original Article links open up on your default browser?

Quite fitting, if you look at the store.

Anyway, I didn't see it on this page (searched with ctrl+f!). I found out that you can use the Microsoft Download Center to search the Windows Store for applications.

Example: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/search.aspx?q=nextgen+reader

Have to say I agree.

Anyone have a good rss feed for when good new Windows 8 apps appear? I always know about iOS and Android apps but never get much in updates for Windows 8 apps.

Why does every music app out there does not support grouping by folders?

Useless as most of my videogames offline music have different artists/albums or some are just plain messy.

Does it play local music, too? It would be funny if Nokia delivered a better music experience than Microsoft.

Yeah. It's laggy though, just like when Xbox Music first launched.

But the album view is fantastic. Huge album arts instead of list of text and tiny pictures.

Lovely, isn't it?

This thread is kinda depressing... I kinda feel sorry for the people with a Surface as their main tablet. But then I remember no one obligated them to buy it.

Sent from my Nexus 7.

I'm very happy with my Surface RT, happier than I was with my Nexus 7 (which was a great tablet too).

I have a surface pro as my main tablet and I feel sorry for anyone with ios or android as their main tablets.

Having to be stuck into an app store and a single ecosystem with your purchases must suck.

It does play local music, but especially after last week's update to the Music app, it's pretty barebones.

I'm not impressed with Nokia Music. On Windows Phone it lets you stream any artist mix you want to create for free, but on Windows 8 the only free thin you can do are the premade mixes? Says I need Nokia Music+ if I want to create my own mixes.

Xbox Music was crap before the update, but it's pretty damn good now. Much better interface and sorting abilities for playing local music, and I can still do pandora-style + spotify-style streaming in addition to premade playlists.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but is there an app that's free or any other way besides app to download YT videos to your Windows phone that's legal? I tried that YT DLer, and it works, but it seems like you have to be connected online to view your DL'ed videos on your phone? I ended up deleting the app.

Anything with Zune that would work?

MetroTube lets you download youtube videos for offline play

Download YouTube looks like crap, but works like a charm for downloads. Plus you set only once to prefer 1080p video and it always download the best quality available.

Edit: Scrap that, the above mentioned Metrotube is miles better.

Nokia Music shows the embedded album artworks of my offline music.

Xbox Music simply ignores it which pissed me off.

So what's the best twitter app?

Has anyone used MetroTwit, Rowi and the official app at length and tell me which is best? I'm satisfied with the official one for now, just wondering if theres another free one that's better/more functional.

God I don't know whether the search is just horrible or the Windows Store really is that crap. Or it's a combination of both. Also so many apps seem to be region or version locked or something. I'm not even sure what region this is installed as or if US/Canada makes a difference.

Nice! Nokia Music recognizes my music collection on my NAS even though Xbox Music won't! Hah, not only is Nokia fixing Microsoft's mistakes on Windows Phone, they're fixing Microsoft's mistakes on Windows 8 too!
