Witcher 3: Blood & Wine - New Screenshots

Anyone have any idea how the expansion affects main game content? I recently started a fresh new game with everything installed but if this thing is gonna add new shit to the main game i might just mess around and level up in White Orchard until it releases.

It's like a mix of fairy tale and real work look to it.
Totally.

I love the character models. Like I've been playing Fallout 4 lately and the models there are nowhere near as good as something like this shot:

You're right. There is no comparison. Zelda got nothing.
I basically made this comparison when my friend was freaking out about Zelda. I was excited, too, but then he had to go and make remarks about how it looked better than any other game's open world in terms of color and scale of grass, etc. so I sent him a few screenshots from my time in TW3. He never responded :P

Please no Dandelion. Please.

Hmm, in some ways I find Zelda's world to be more beautiful, particularly from the trailer. But W3 is all about the individualised content. It is a truly beautiful open world. FFXV might surpass if for me though...I prefer the scaling and some of the locales look like they might be incredible.

There is definitely a difference in art style, but as far as how much detail is present there is no contest. The Wii U devkit simply can't compare to PS4 and XBO, let alone the PC version when it comes to density of foliage. I'm hoping the NX version of Zelda improves on this a bit, because I'm quite frankly tired of waiting for a proper Zelda experience that isn't completely gryo dependent and excited for the new game.

If you want judge character models, don't just look at the faces, look at the hands also. There's more character in how the woman in the center is clasping her hands then most games up to this point.

I really love the way Witcher 3 looks. Everything, from the environments down to the character models.

CDPR has a right mix of 'stylised realism', just like naughty dog. It works great because it allows developers and designers to tell a great story thats works around 'realistic constraints' while it also evades the whole uncanney valley issue.

Ach, son of a bitch. I am too damn impatient to wait for the GOTY Edition. Maybe the digital release will have a sale in the future when this releases?

I don't how much is it where you live, but here in Brazil the box is getting cheaper and cheaper. And it comes with a map, dvd with the soundtrack, a guide, extra box cover, etc...amazing value.

Is a GOTY edition even coming out? I won't be able to actually play any games until July or so, and with my backlog I won't be ready for any new game until September, and then FFXV will come along. It would be awesome if a GOTY edition was released by then, because I like having everything in one complete package.

That looks fantastic.

Well over 100 hours into the original game + Hearts of Stone, and I'm still craving more of The Witcher. Been such an amazing ride.

Holy fuck, CDPR!

How does this game manage to get even more beautiful? I can't wait to adventure with Geralt in Wonderland.

It turns out the button shortages on women's shirts from base game were hoarded by the impeccably dressed women of Toussaint. (Seriously, it's nice to three have different kinds of necklines outside of the 80% of NPCs with Navel Plunging Shirt in White A, Navel Plunging Shirt in Blue B...) Those dresses and character models are incredible, and I actually thought that screenshot in particular was a painting for a second. I'm looking forward to new armors for Geralt. It's dress-up time, you poor bastard.

Just imagining what they'll do with Cyberpunk 2077 makes me incredibly happy.

With the lack of any meaningful loot, I couldn't keep playing the game.

If they had a better weapon and loot system, more like dark Souls, it would be amazing to me.

Screens look nice though.

A stronger craft system would make all those unless dead drops useful when it comes to found material. Hopefully Cyperpunk deals with loot better.

Good point. I can't wait to experience the culture of Toussaint. Setting foot on the beautiful and honourable Skellige Isles after spending so many hours in the hostile wilds of Velen and the crime infested streets of Novigrad was an incredible culture shock.

Is the comic cannon though? Because during the time Geralt goes to Vergen, he's meant to have
broken up with Triss already
and be with Vesemir, on the path and finding Yen. It also creates another inconsistency, because he wouldn't need to ask
Phillipa
about her, if he knew what happened.

I don't think
she dies
. I believe that's one of Dandelion's "what if" scenarios. What if she stood and fought alongside everyone. Instead, she left, and the
dwarves (Yarprin, Sheldon ect)
died when Nilfgaard
burnt the city.
Although, I must say, that makes no sense either. Vergen has strategic value, hell half of TW2's plot is about how important Vergen is. Makes no sense that an invading army would
burn it to the ground
. They need it.

Marcin also did say that they were both safe. Who knows? So much contradictory info.

I dont know if there is any official word on whether its canon, I assumed they made the comic specifically to give some insight on the fate of Saskia and Vergen since the game didn't provide much. The thing about that scene with
Phillipa is that its inconsistent without the comic since Geralt asks even if you cured Saskia in TW2. However, in the comic we learn that there is still some residual effect and she momentarily loses control, which could explain why he'd ask that. He leaves before the fighting starts and she potentially returns while its ongoing so that could explain why Geralt wouldn't know that she is dead.

The physical releases here in the US run to about $30-40, but I have a vain hope that the inevitable GOTY edition will have all of the expansions/DLC on one disc. A man with a piddly 500GB Xbox One console can dream, right?

Got this in PC with a graphics card purchase last year (witcher 3). Never installed it or opened it.

Presume I need to play the main game first and this dlc just opens another map area?

it blows my mind how much pure value is in TW3. and then the expansions that are incredibly cheap.

incredible

The recommended level is above 30.

If you like challenge, then I'd recommend completing the Main Quest first, because if you complete Heart of Stone, you'll be over leveled for the final Main Quest.

Be around level 30 in the base game, before you start Hearts of Stone. I assume Blood and Wine will be around level 38, meant to be played after Hearts of Stone as well.

You can just look in the journal too. The recommend level is there.

EDIT: Beaten. :P Didn't refresh.

Thanks guys.

When the expansions are installed you have the option of starting a completely new game or just starting the expansion. HoS requires level 30 so you'd need to play the entire base game to get to that level. If you choose just the expansion then it auto levels you, gives you some gear, food, potions and you just go start the quest.

I would seriously recommend playing the base game + HoS before Blood & Wine comes out. You don't need to because it's separate from them both but you'll be missing out on an amazing game and expansion. If you're interested in Blood & Wine then I don't see why you wouldn't want to play the rest of the game.

Not she why you're saying that she returns. The comic says outright that she doesn't. Unless I'm missing something, I'm pretty sure that
Dandellion
is saying that would like to lie and say that her return changed the course of battle, but it didn't happen. She left Vergen.
"Few blamed Saskia for the missions tragic end, all had known the risks involved. Nonetheless, she decided to leave Vergen.

A poets duty not merely to amuse his readers, to more, instruct or terrify them. Instead, his duty above all is to chronicle events, to record the truth. I would like to say that in the face of tragedy, the dwarves remained strong and firm, and that Saskia's departure brought them all together.

I would like to lie and say that Saskia's return shifted the tide of battle. That at the very sight of her, the Nilfgaardian's scurried south leabing the victors to dance of the graves of their foes. I would like to lie and say that with the enemies hordes defeated, Saskia flew off into the sunset. I would like to lie and say that Geralt had no regrets abandoning Vergen at this trying hour.

Finally, I would like to lie and say that Geralt found his beloved Yennefer and they lived happily ever after on a small farm somewhere far away."

Geralt also tells her that sometimes parents need to let go of their children. Saskia then says that she shan't forget this and leaves.
I don't think this comic is cannon, as there's another one set in the same time where Geralt is with Vesemir. There's also that quote about Yennefer, which is a bit odd. Geralt who sided with Roche also wouldn't go back to Vergen.

So damn hyped. Hearts of Stone was a fantastic expansion.

Man i unequivocally love this series, and especially the third game. It is my dream 3d WRPG.

This game needs to be released again with updaten graphics on PS4K/NEO.

I picked up witcher 3 at launch, played 20 hours then stopped as I had other stuff to do but i really enjoyed it.

I will start playing again as soon as they release the PC version on PS4k/neo.

I really think the ps4 version is good but its nowhere near the PC version.

Make it happen CDPR!

This has a very sickly green look too it. Not because of the foliage, but whatever pp they've applied to it.

Looks much better without imo:

Even vanilla W3 had some kind of piss filter on it.
Reason why i played through it with a SweetFX profile, to modify the color temperature.

People asking if this is dream sequence or they are changing to a cartoony style.

The books also do this, Geralt's world is full of dark and brooding (as we've seen in TW3), but theres also a lot of super colorful and fun parts, lots of them are inspired on fairytales and children's famous books.

Doesnt actually surprise me seeing the tower of Tangled here, and so much color in Toussaint.

And, some type of version of Ranpunzel is in that tower (theres usually a twist when Sapkowski writes them), becuase you can clearly see the hair hanging.
