Joke post?
I wonder of the success of the game will encourage whoever is in charge of the book rights to get English translations of the rest of the books out there.
I didnt check for accuracy but Ive seen others citing Skyrim did 7 million and Mass Effect 3 did 3.5 million in their first month. So still a long way from Skyrim but, surprisingly, well above Mass Effect 3s first month.
I'd argue it's the first truly great game of the generation ( that's not a remaster) though I know some would give that title to Bloodborne.
They deserve every success, the game is a massive achievement for CDPR.
I don't know about shareholders, but Marcin and the management
1) already have enough money that they probably do not know what to do with it
2) aren't doing this for the money, they value their independence too much
Remember when RPGs were those niche games the dweebs played

good
Bring On Witcher 4 eventually starring Ciri
While this is true,
a) They've been selling their stock
b) They dissolved their shareholder alliance (which required them to vote the same way etc)
c) Co-founder Kicinski (brother of the CEO) lost interest in games and is now innovating elsewhere. Recently he invested (started?) in openbooks.com which is like GOG for books.
I'd argue Witcher 1 is even better than 2 so I love the fact that Witcher 3 feels more like a sequel to the first game. Witcher 2 is still necessary to play though as it sets 3 up so well.

Ok, so what does all this mean? Are they going to sell out? Are they a possible target for aquisition ? Like if say Actard or Bethesda decided to buy them, could they go to warsaw stock exchange and get them ?
I hear it's a pretty good looking game, too.

What, you mean like 20 years ago or something?
He clearly lives in a world where Skyrim and Oblivion don't exist.
Wow this game shoould have been fella profitable, like, crazy profitable, due to Poland costs. EA am cry.

Inquisition struggled to even hit the NPD charts.
I remember when playing video games was niche.

Yeah, until the wind blows
Which is always
Sure they could, but I don't think they'd let them buy it unless it was a hostile takeover.
Shareholders:
Marcin Iwiński 13.28%
Michał Kiciński 12.93%
PKO Towarzystwo Funduszy Inwestycyjnych S.A. 9.48%
Piotr Nielubowicz 6.30%
MetLife Powszechne Towarzystwo Emerytalne Spółka Akcyjna (dawniej AMPLICO PTE) 5.27%
AVIVA Otwarty Fundusz Emerytalny Aviva BZ WBK 5.20%
The rest is < 5% so is not reported.
So co-founders have 25%, the rest are investment funds and individuals.
Już w dniu premiery zwróciły nam się całe poniesione przez trzy lata nakłady na produkcję - cieszy się Adam Kiciński, prezes CD Projektu.
Thanks for the info. So the bolded is possible ? That is kinda scary. I really hope CDP stays independent forever.
All the production costs spent over the last 3 years were covered on day 1 - Adam Kicinski, CDPR CEO.
Yes - hostile takeover means that EA/Bethesda could go to shareholders and buy stock from them instead of coming to an agreement with the company management.
Edit: apologies for double post.

Me neither. I really like it actually. A few times when there is dialog and you cant hear the wind it looks a bit funny but it looks fantastic looking out over the wilderness and seeing all the trees moving. Havn't played a game ever that acually made me feel relaxed by just cantering on the horse and looking at the vistas. This has never bothered me.
