Anyone ever experience anything like this before?

Dreamed that a good friend of mine had passed away which hit me like a bag of bricks. I just could not stop crying. It was that intense kind of cry that comes from your gut. When I woke up I had tears in my eyes.

I don't think I've ever experienced anything quite like it--or at least to the same extent--before.

Yeah, I never woke up in tears but I felt all the emotions as though I were crying in the dream. It felt emotionally draining.

Yeah, that's happened often. Usually it's a nightmare about a friend or family member passing. But dreams fade from memory pretty quickly if you let them.

Yep, happened the other day. I got beaten up and couldn't do anything about it. Odd feeling like everything else human.

I've had pretty realistic dreams about my dog dying and woke up scared to death only to find her sleeping at the end of the bed. It's times like those that I'm glad I rarely dream anymore.

Yes, happens quite a lot to me actually.

The feeling you get when you finally realize that it's all a dream is amazing.

Had this one recurring dream when I was a kid that had me crying and then I could never get back to sleep.

Most recent one I had was where I woke up after having a dream that my dad died. I couldn't really put together that it was a dream and sat there for a good 10 minutes crying.

Yeah, after my mother died a few years ago. It was surreal for me because I never remember my dreams, I never even have nightmares that I remember. I had a dream about her and woke up alone completely sobbing. It never happened before and it's never happened since.

Anyone ever have a dream where they would wake up in the dream then go back to bed in the dream before actually waking up? That was a mindfuck.

I woke up sweating once, but I don't remember the dream.

Exact same thing happened to me when my father passed away. I woke up just balling my eyes out.

I've never woke up crying, but I will have dreams of people that have died still being alive. There is that 1-second moment right after waking up where it feels their death hasn't happened and then reality settles in and I get nauseous for awhile.

This has been my life the last few months. It's even more strange when you're still in that half awake state and you think whatever noises going on around the house might be her.

I've had dreams where something was going on and it was very tense and then I would snap instantly out of sleep and wake up with my heart racing like crazy.

I've woken up from a dream where I fell, and it felt like I slammed into the bed. I've gotten the crying and laughing ones too. The worst ones are the ones where I dream the alarm going off, so I actually wake up and check my phone only to find that my alarm is about to go off.

This thread reminds me that last week I was having the most common dream ever, nothing special ... and then I suddenly woke up sweeting and with my heart beating ridiculously fast, like when I woke up from the worst nightmares

Only dream that had me scared shitless and sad involved my daughter, but I didn't cry because whatever happened in the dream wasn't final. I think I was trying to prevent something from happening to her.

Recently my wife woke me up because I was laughing my ass off. I don't remember what happened in the dream, but it was hilarious. I find that I have had more dreams kind of taking away bad things that have happened, like my grandfather dying. I was 10 when my mother's father passed. I had a dream that he was still alive and it helped take some of the pain away. Of course I woke up and there was the pain again, but I think it helped a little. Then there was the lottery dream where it's like all of my problems disappeared, this was when I was still a kid as well.

I had dreams that had me in tears too, but they rarely make me cry - I kinda figured our bodies would mimic our personal emotions during dreamstate.
