An alleged drug dealer apparently seeking to capitalize on the political zeitgeist was arrested in Troy, N.H., on Thursday and charged with selling heroin labeled “Donald Trump,” according to a statement from Keene Police.

Darcie Hall, 36, was arrested after a month-long investigation by the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Drug Task Force, Keene Police and New Hampshire State Police.

She was stopped as she drove north on Route 12 in Troy, and taken into custody without incident, according to the statement. Both her residence and her car were searched and evidence was seized.

The heroin Hall was allegedly selling was packaged in dosage-sized bags, each stamped with the Republican presidential frontrunner’s name.

Hall is already on probation for a 2014 conviction for possession of cocaine. She was scheduled to appear in Cheshire Superior Court on April 1, according to police; information about the outcome of that hearing was not immediately available Saturday.

A family member who asked not to be identified to protect the family’s privacy said Saturday that he was “disgusted” by Hall’s alleged behavior. He had no idea, he said, why she allegedly named her heroin after Trump.

Hall is not the first alleged drug dealer to name a product after a subject in the news.

In Massachusetts in December 2013, four people were arrested after State Police discovered 1,250 bags of heroin labeled “Obama Care” during a traffic stop on Interstate 91.

“To the best of our knowledge, it’s like branding,” said State Police spokesman Trooper Todd Nolan at the time. Drug dealers often use branding on their wares so buyers can identify where the drugs originated, Nolan said.

The case of the “Donald Trump” heroin remains open, according to Keene police.

Anyone who has further information is encouraged to call the Keene Police Department at 603-357-9820, and ask to speak to Detective Chris Gulino.
