Wonder Woman (2017) Begins Production

I'm struggling to think of a superhero who doesn't have a love interest.

My point exactly.

Ya'll forget that the Themyscirans typically don't get along very well with men.

Diana would have really been a good vessel to have them shy away from every dang superhero having a love interest. She could easily have been the strong Amazonian woman for a few films and just brushed off any advances from guys.

So completely go against the character for.....some reason? Most superheroes have been around forever. For them to never be in a relationship is unrealistic.

I just don't understand why every superhero movie feels the need to have a love interest for it to succeed. Why can't we have two hours of Wonder Woman kicking ass and taking names and being badass without having to shove a love story in there?

How would she get off the island?

Jesus a period piece. They're fucking up my damned Wonder Woman movie.

I'm so glad we're getting a period piece. I'm curious if the film takes place post or pre-women's suffrage. Looks like it'll be right around WWI based on those set pics, so the latter is more likely. There's a lot they can play around with there. The idea of Wonder Woman coming from Themyscira to a world where women weren't even allowed to vote could make for a very interesting setting.

She can fly...

No, WHY would she leave the island? Without someone there to drive her the character has no reason to interact with the world of man. Sure the Justice League cartoon found a way, but it only worked because it was a team up. Some one has to drive her to leave.

I wanna see Faora vs Wonder Woman

She was such a badass bitch. Definitely my favorite part Man of Steel. Underrated.

Are they really going to use Fuchs script? I don't know how to feel about that. They can't fuck this up, must have been a really good script. Right....right?

God observe their subjects. It's part of their job description.

She's not a "God" per say, she's a demigod, the daughter of Zues and hippolyta. The amazons have a policy of isolationism and don't interact with the outside world. She would not know, and would have no way of knowing about the outside war unless someone told her.

Steve Trevor has been part of the WW mythos since the very beginning why would they change that now?

Come on, you can write plausible scenario in three minutes:

-- She's sent on a convert mission to observe but have no contact;
- suffers a crisis of conscience when she witnesses all the senseless slaughter but cannot intervene;
-- Tries to convince the Amazonians to intervene, they refuse;
-- intervenes anyway;
-- gets banished;
-- hijinks;
-- is ultimately redeemed when she overcomes a bigger evil that threatens the Amazonians.

If it really is true that they had 3 other scripts and they chose to go with this then it can't be that bad.

There's a big problem with that. The Amazonians don't care, at all. They'd have no reason to send her in.

Regardless of all that, Steve Trevor has been a part of the WW mythos forever. What is wrong with that?

Yep, the whole point of Themyscira is to be isolated from the dealings of mankind why would they choose to be involved in a war between humans? makes no sense at all for the character and the Amazons.

No one is sending you checks because it's a terrible idea tbh.

Diana cares most amazons don't

Wonder Woman in particular benefits from an early love interest because she's been isolated from men her entire life. It only makes sense that she would discover things like attraction.

The setting should make for an interesting movie, but I wonder if part of the big audience appeal of superheroes lies in high tech / skyscraper destruction porn and whether that suggests a more modest box office for a period piece.

The rumors is that the film is set mostly in current-day, if nothing else... the climax will be in a similar time period as MoS/BvS

I think her acting will be at least serviceable in both movies. In fact, I'm confident WW will have the best "Wow" moments in BvS next year. DC is sitting on a goldmine with WW, as girls will go crazy over her, if done right.

I'm more concerned with DC/WB being able to make Gadot look like she can beat some ass:

Better hope she wears her costume a lot because those skinny arms are laughable for a master warrior like WW.
She's so fucking beautiful though. <3 Not sure about her acting chops, but my God she incredibly stunning!

She sneaks out like Jasmine in Aladdin because she gets bored with her life... and we're done, I'll take half the cheques please.

There's no way she's underrated by GAF. Every MOS page calls her out as awesome and one of the bright spots in MOS. She's a woman who swore and kicked ass with very minimal dialogue, motivation, character growth. She's about as shallow as it comes but people gravitated to her because woman who swears and kicks ass.

She swore?

Sometimes it is about the presence over the character. The Boba Fett rationale.
