Wonder Woman (2017) - Official Synopsis

Not open for further replies.
This premise is basically the same as the animated movie, which was pretty cool, other than the annoying as fuck Steve Trevor.

Story by could literally be Zack giving them a rough outline

"I want it in this time period, and this is where she is in BvS and I need this to happen for Justice League"

This will be even worse than bvs.
There are no redeeming qualities here.

Gal gadots acting is atrocious.
Story by Zack Snyder- means you shouldn't look forward to this if you hates man of steel or bvs.
This is also clearly a low budget attempt at wonder woman. She will spend 90% of the movie without her powers.

If this does worse than its expectations you can stick a fork in the DCEU.

Here you dropped this /s.

That is a pretty nothing synopsis .... I want to know details of the villain and other characters !

Is she going to fly ? There will be a plane ? Will it be a pegasus transformed by magic cloud ?

Clearly, yes. We can all clearly see this in all of the clearly released trailers and clearly written impressions that we've all clearly read.

But why wouldn't there be a writer in Snyder's place?

He isn't even directing this.

Because a 'story by' credit can mean fuck all. I could say "There should be a movie with two people in a car race, and set it in the 70's, and one of the racers has a sick daughter," and if I'm in an important enough position, I can guarantee myself a 'story by' credit even though someone else writes literally every line of the script. How many people attribute Avengers to Zak Penn?

The actual question is how much direct control Snyder actually has over this project beyond getting an executive producer credit, and being the one probably to say during BvS' development "Have your Wonder Woman movie set during WWI, which explains why she was gone all that time."

You expect this to make more than 850 million? 600 would be considered a success i imagine considering its her first ever film and it's a woman superhero to boot.

Sorry, I'm half asleep.

I edited my post. I meant 'If this does even further below its expectations than BvS'.

Haha, we have like 8 seconds of footage and he came up with all of that. He may be right but there is literally nothing to support it yet.

500-600 Mil would be a massive success for this film TBH
Gadot is only getting like $300,000 per movie from what I read a long time ago.

I really want this movie to kick all the other cape movies' asses. And even if it doesn't, Gadot deserves more support

Gadots acting as wonder woman is displayed in bvs.
Zack Snyder's story abilities are also displayed across the last two DC movies he has made. If you hated those, than why would you look forward to this all of a sudden?

You could maybe argue that this isn't a mid-lpw budget attempt at wonder woman, but most people agree from the footage we have seen so far that this looks like the captain America first avenger of the DC movies.

I honestly don't see how any of this is jumping to conclusions.

The fact that Snyder didn't get that kind of credit in BvS, despite his influence being clear (with all the TDKR references, and him deciding on
Superman's death
) has me concerned the his role in the creation of story of this film might be larger than his role in BvS' story, and I don't have faith in Snyder's writing.

It could just be a fluff accreditation, but given that BvS doesn't do the same, I'm not so sure.

Hmm. Watch it come out that Zack Snyder is the reason this movie finally got made because he and his wife were pushing it through. Wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to be the case. He's on the story team and both he and his wife are producers on this I believe. We know WB had been dragging it's feet for years, decades, on getting anything Wonder Woman live action out the door be it a film or another tv series. Along comes Snyder and boom a Wonder Woman movie, before another Batman film and apart of the first batch along with appearing in Snyder's second DC film.

Because whatever influence he has, it's being filtered through Geoff Johns, Allen Heinberg, and Patty Jenkins, with Snyder himself being nowhere near a camera as far as we know.

Googled Allan Heinberg and found this on wiki;

Wut.
That project has been in development hell for years. I can't imagine it's going anywhere now.

So Wonder Woman's gonna end WW1 huh? I dunno, this seems kinda cheesy for a movie plot. Especially since there were no real bad guys in that war, but the movie's just gonna pin it all on the Germans like they're the only evil ones.

Wait, WW1? I thought it was WW2. Huh. I'm... cautiously optimistic.

Pan writer moved onto Lobo.

You all forgot about Lobo! Releasing the same day as Gambit.

Whoever wins, we lose

There is an incredibly narrow but not unattainable window of what I'd think a good Gambit movie could be. I would be plenty happy if they managed to do that.

Rebirth was Johns fixing his own mistakes, especially regarding Superman. I don't know why people give him credit over Snyder

Snyder wants to do his own thing, I'm cool with that.

Because Snyder's "own thing" typically isn't how people like seeing their heroes portrayed.

Fuchs was never officially confirmed to be the writer of the film right? That was just "reports" but WB never said anything from what I remember.

Have to say I'm really looking forward to Wonder Woman. Perhaps more then I'm looking forward to Suicide Squad. I really want to see what they've done and how far they will take things.

Like said Snyder could have provided the outline at the least or contributed to the overall story at the very least. Even then he's not the only name and didn't write it by himself. Heinberg is both on the story and screenplay.

Because he's not the one directing? That's like saying "Thor 1 and 2 was terrible. Why should you even watch Avengers and Avengers 2?! Thor was terrible".

Your bias is showing and honestly I don't even know why you're in this thread.

to be fair i'd put every movie with thor in it at the bottom of the mcu. it's not his fault but it's a crazy coincidence that i dislike all 4 of them.

i think snyder has brought some interesting ideas to these flicks on the story front, it's just their execution is lacking. so i don't think a story by credit is anything to worry about at all imo, it's actually a positive for me. still really iffy on gadot being able to lead a film however. she looked cool as shit but didn't really get to speak much yet. and when she did it was kinda wooden as hell such as that funeral scene. this movie has a lot to overcome. wish it the best, it's about time wonder woman gets something.

Sounds like a Wonder Woman origin story all right.
Zach Snyder having some say over the story makes me worried but I would love to see a good live action Wonder Woman movie.

I was one of the people who enjoyed bvs when it was released. Read many of my posts in the review thread. I also enjoyed man of steel, and believe watchmen to be the best superhero movie to date. I have no bias against Snyder, in fact I rather enjoy his movies.

This is kind of like when the bvs trailers were being released, and I got in to discussions with people and tried pointinf out how it looked even darker than man of steel and how batman came across like an idiot with the premise they were presenting to us. Yet lo and behold, same thing was being said then, as is being said now. Lol

So let me know when an actual WW trailer drops so I can read your thoughts.

I still have no idea what to expect from this because Gadot has only had to say about 20 lines if you add up everything she has said in every movie she has been in.

That Fuch heavily implied he's on the project in interviews from way back. Could be he wanted it, was in talks, or WB had him along with others write treatments and his lost. Who knows.

Truth be told I'm hoping something along these lines happens with Aquaman. The two rumored writers on that project aren't encouraging.

Wasn't that exact scenario rumored for Aquaman's script? Some sort of treatment-off?

as if the trades didn't make it official, Allan confirmed it on his twitter making it REALLY official. :P

this is so surprising and awesome. :)

Most surely, they will go with 'the folly of war', and they will show how she was young and idealistic, and how even with super powers you can't stop something like the WW1.

Sounds fine for a Wonder Woman movie, but I really wish Snyder had no part in the writing. He's good at visual stuff, bad at story stuff.
