Wonder Woman Official Trailer

I have watched this three times and I get more impressed with each viewing, feels like they really nailed the tone of the comics and the action is on point. This is tied with Spider-Man Homecoming as my most anticipated movies of next year.

Wait ww can fly? All I know about ww is invisible jets and Linda carter. I thought she was super buffed up in bvs. Guess I was wrong

She gained the ability to fly in 1958. Post-Crisis, she was rebooted to always be able to fly.

And yeah, she was definitely nerfed in BvS. That said, unless she is kept at that level, I think that was the right decision.

Why is she using the lasso against mortals? The lasso isn't that practical when you are already super strong and fast, so wouldn't her punch and kicks be far more versatile? Why is she using shield to block the bullets? If her strength is even in the same league as Superman, then she should be bullet proof or otherwise her muscles would tear from her super strength.

Her strength is magical in nature. It does not have to follow the laws of physics.

Commonly, Wonder Woman is able to withstand quite a bit of physical trauma, but unlike Superman, she usually has to recover from damage instead of simply being impervious.

Writers have always had to walk the line between her being in Superman's league, but not so far in that she suffers from the issues some of Superman's lesser stories do.

Force is force whether you are applying it to an object or an object applies it to you. If she is able to lift a 2 tons car, then that means that car is applying a force of tons on her too. If magic is enhancing her strength, then it has to enhance her studiness too otherwise you end up with a glass cannon situation. Think Deku from Boku No Hero Academia, he breaks his limb from just using a fraction of One for All.

The only reason I can think of for her using a shield is that her strength isn't anywhere in Superman's league. That she is probably around Spiderman level of strength.

No, I am actually really serious about the magic thing. Similar things have been established.

Example: Giganta completely flouts the Square-Cubed law and she has been explicitly cited as doing so because her size is magical in nature.

Force of habit.

Well, it is her theme, lol.
i know so it was an awesome feeling when i heard it

i heard rumors about WB making the dccu more lighthearted because the bvs failure scare. i really hope they don't do that because the tone was definitely not what was wrong with that movie, or mos.

Agreed, but neither DC nor many of their detractors seem willing to make that distinction.

so for sure the franchise is gonna be all lighthearted now?
Man of Steel will probably be the tone of the series, a few jokes, but still dealing with the whole gods among us theme. I'd bet these are most of the comedy beats, save Barry doing things and people reacting.

I hope aquaman has horror influence so James Wan can be in his element.

If it's magic, the laws of physics are irrelevant.

It's great that the film has some color instead of that filter MOS/BvS used.

Action looks great from the little we've seen. Loving her use of the lasso.

I'm referring specifically to her look, and it's incorporating the BvS appearance as well. To me she LOOKS like Wonder Woman.

Nah. GAdot is still too thin for nailing the look of a lifelong warrior like WW, but it does seem she put on a few pounds of muscle since BvS.

The costume is perfect, though.

I thought this was a bad trailer. Just had a very flat response to it.

Gadot's acting looks mediocre at best and Pine is flatlining.

this posts brings up a good point; Do we see WW fly in this movie? i hope so

Any news on the villain of the movie? I have a hard time imagining WW will have trouble taking on Nazis.

Almost undoubtedly Ares.

He's pretty much the only antagonist that is popular with the general audience because of his ties to Greek Mythology.

Plus, it's a war period piece.

Which kind of sucks because Wonder Woman actually has a pretty robust rogues gallery for those who actually read her comics. Cheetah, Circe, Doctor Psycho, Veronica Cale if you want to go the Lex Luthor route, plus the rest of the Greek pantheon if they're willing to put effort into making the diety politics dynamic.

I feel like someone is inevitably going to google these and go "lawl, evil midget named Psycho is the best she has? how can I possibly take that srsly?", but in the actual stories, they work really well.

Trailer looks good. Hopefully we see some of the mythological creatures in this movie, that she has befriended over the years too.

Yeah, and until I expanded and looked more into her I thought the same and therefore found Wonder Woman to be total cringe. The Invisible jet can go and die in a fire too.

It's like if all you thought of as Batman was Adam West. Gah.

I actually still find it somewhat hard to call Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman as it still has cringe Lynda Carter connotations to me.

Ares is fine as a starter a villain for WW (if true), establishes the Greek mythology and ties into WW.

Oh, I don't disagree, but they shouldn't kill him off. He should be an arc villain, kind of like how Loki is for Thor. You don't kill off a character like that, you make him a recurring figure.

I hate nothing more than when mythologies are reduced to generic roles like 'villains', when for the proper effect of gods should invoke is something grander.

They'll cast Peter Dinklege as Doctor Psycho and we'll all love it.

I think Diana's rogues have far more potential than they've ever been able to realize because everyone just wants to do the gods.

Circe works brilliantly as Loki-type or even an evil opposite. Cheetah is a great rival. Veronica Cale is good in the Lex Luthor role, like you said. Doctor Psycho could potentially be one of the most terrifying villains in the DCEU. The Circle are good if you want Amazonian villains. Lesser rogues, like Giganta, Silver Swan, Doctor Poison, and Decay probably can't carry films, but they'd be good to use in fight scenes and lesser roles.

Also, with this movie taking place in WWI, I'll be very disappointed if we don't get Paula Von Gunther.

Reminds me of the first Captain America movie only because of the older setting. But yeah, looks decent enough.
