Wonder Woman Trailer #2

Real basic plot beats. The story of the film itself isn't really gone over too much.

Also, it's a trailer, so by definition, there are no spoilers. Because once the studio decides to start using shit in the marketing, that doesn't apply.

I know you don't appear to know how to use the word pretentious.

Shoulda just went with "lame wordplay" if that's what you meant. Because using words that dont' fit in an attempt to make your point seem stronger than it really is, well, that's what we call...
Sure Bobby, your whole schitk is being pretentious portraying yourself to be more than what you are. But sure, you sure showed me by dragging the conversation to another sterile discussion about the specific meaning of a word.
Good job, good effort!!!!
You are way too defensive about a guitar riff in a fucking trailer for a superhero movie.
My posts are my own and I do what I want with them. Deal with it or ignore them.

Same thoughts as the previous trailers:

1. Please for the love of Zeus be good

2. That BvS needs to be reworked

3. Just be good, goddammit.

Also, this is a minor nitpick that I don't really mind that much, but I wish it was her lasso or her gauntlets that are glorified as the Amazon Super Special Weapon, rather than her sword. I'm not opposed to her using a sword, but it feels more central to her heroic identity that her most important weapon is the one that compels truth rather than the one that brings death. It just kind of goes back to highlighting how death obsessed this interpretation of the DC universe is and it's somewhat generic. There are hundreds of thousands of magic swords in fiction. A magic lasso is more unique.

As someone that's seen more generic but solid Marvel movies than I count, I am perfectly fine with Wonder Woman being this. I'd like any DC movie to just aim for "solid" at this point.
I think Doctor Strange was the point where I realised I can't accept that sorta stuff anymore. Well, I can accept it but won't go see them in cinemas. Man, was I disappointed in that film.

IDid it look like she flies?? I guess it could just be a strong jump but it looks like she just takes off

I'm guessing it's a strong jump but that's interesting: It hadn't occurred to me that her flying would be an option in this cinematic universe.

Now I hope they have her do it.

This is a real good point.

It doesn't and nah. All that lame wordplay that you crammed into that post was pretentious and you know it.

You have no idea what "pretentious" means. Bobby's post you may disagree with, but it wasn't pretentious. Had he started by "Well, as a person with a masters in polyrhythmic composition from Juliard..." you mighta' had a point.

The tune does not the fit the more epic tone, but I don't really mind it. Atleast its memorable and just during the logo anyway,so whatever.

Mildly hyped for the movie, has been a while since a superhero movie offered location-porn.

The electronic guitar riff is out of place in that moment and it does create a strange comedic effect.

You don't need to be bereft of joy to laugh at the inappropriate score.

Don't fight the consensus.

Couldn't have said it any better. Still looking forward to this. Didn't have any problems with Gals acting in BvS.

Trailer was great, good choice of music and very well cut. But then the stupid guitar/electric chello riff at the end. All hype deflated.

It certainly looks like a movie. I hate how the color changes once they leave the island/wherever the women are living.

This is a decent point. I was saying earlier this seems to be using the same general structure of Superman: The Movie (fantastical opening, transition to traditional superhero storytelling about halfway through) but that movie went from subdued colors/tones to bold, eye-popping color for the superhero stuff.

This movie looks like it's doing that backwards. Bright colors for the fantastical origin stuff, but the actual superheroing is being done in greys and blues.

How do you take a guy with mind bending magic powers and throw him in an effects feast like that and still come out with such a dull and mediocre movie. HOW SWAY?!

I feel like the high bar for wonder woman is to end up being a decent popcorn movie. And that would be great considering the character deserves huge success. But I can't get hyped to see this. Every comic movie between Logan and JL (and even the latter is in question) is a matinee or rental for me this year.

Bobby is certainly the most pretentious person who's name starts with B in this thread

Also I blame Yates for London looking like shit again

Stop making the electric guitar theme happen. It's not gonna happen.

Unless you have an e-mail opening scene to sell me, then we can talk.

That's a pretty darn good trailer, though, I'm hoping for the best!

Not really. Her lasso isn't going to make
Ares
tuck his tail in between his legs. A
Godkiller
sword on the other hand...

It feels like one misses the point when the response to the sentiment that the central representation of a hero should be a tool that isn't specialized in killing is "But it can't kill hard enough tho...."

Wouldn't even call Doctor Strange bad (exceptional all the ugly digital zoom in. please stop doing this.) It's just...there.

Wonder Woman also seems fine. Won't be there opening day, but I'll catch it in theaters. At least I do hope it's successful for reasons broader than being DC property.

That ideal works for someone like Superman but not so much for Wonder Woman. She's all about love and compassion but she will straight up cut you in half.

Don't they say weapons, plural? Maybe the lasso is part of it?

I don't see how it's out of place in that moment. You are talking about when she is first shown and saves Batman right? But alright, opinions and all. I will concede.

Out of curiosity, how many Wonder Woman comics have you actually read?

That might be the case. Still, the sword is the one that's given the focus, in this trailer atleast.

Like I said, it's not an actual problem just by itself. It's just another indicator of how immaturely death obsessed the Snyder universe is. Superman kills Zod, Batman kills thugs and tries to murder superman, and now Wonder Woman's focus has shifted from having her industructible Lasso of Truth be the central tool of her arsenal to a tool that's specifically designed to kill.

There's nothing wrong with it by itself. I like stories with Wonder Woman wielding a sword. But in Snyder's universe, it feels like it's just going to be another piece of Grimdark on top of all the rest.

I just don't know, breh. It baffles me too.

I felt the hype for Logan and I'm quite hyped for the new Thor because of Waititi and the concept. Guardians looks fun so I'll be seeing that whenever it releases. Spidey... Y'know, I should be super excited for that but I'm just not feeling it. The DC stuff all depends on reviews.
London is quite ugly though.
How dare you.

Oh yeah, it definitely isn't bad. It's solid because it doesn't flub the standard formula but... it's the standard formula that saddens me. A Doctor Strange movie should've been so much more.

That riff wasn't made to be played constantly over movies, it's there for peak moments. It playing at the end of these trailers is a homage to her big introduction in BvS and to segue into a comedic finish. People forget the whole theme is like 6 minutes long and runs through a few different beats, some of which could fit any portion of this movie.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did make some different mixes of the riff for this film, but i'd bet on the guitar coming in at some peak moment in the last act.

Unless they were going for subtitles there's little to do there. That train departed when Zod spoke English on MoS.
Yeah, I guess I'd just prefer it if big studios weren't so afraid of using subtitles for more than two sentences, but it is what it is.
