Words that automatically turn you off from games

I like the idea of free to play, it has the same basic principles as the PC shareware scene back in the day. But they fucked it, but also modern mainstream titles don't really accommodate it considering their by the numbers shit.

F2P
Multiplayer Only (unless its an MMORPG)
MOBA
Military Shooter
Mobile
PC (i dont have a PC capable of gaming so... its pretty much a whatever)
GTA (just dont like em)
Racing
Western

I tend to have an open mind for these things. In the past I shunned any MMO and boy was I wrong to do that. I've also had things against F2P and Day 1 DLC too.

Now the only thing that gets me turned off for a game is unnatural hype and/or EA.

Shooter
Action
F2P
Mobile
Indie (Not my thing with rare exception)

Makes it easy to know which games for me to avoid.

MMORPG.
Always on
DRM.
Kinect/Move-only.
Naughty
Dog.
Microtransactions.
New online FPS experience.
Cinematic.
Ubisoft
will surprise players ;
fresh, different ideas
; the franchise won't succumb to annual fatigue.
Every fucking year. Annual release schedule.

Heh. I didn't see that post, as he's one of the two people I have on my ignore list. And now I remember why I've put him there.

You put him on your ignore because he doesn't like Sony? Or am I missing something here?

How is not liking games that define themselves as "indie" edgy?

I have no idea how that works. Probably because indies are very popular on here and the person you quoted might think that the person who doesn't like indie games is just saying that to be "controversial" and "edgy".

I would imagine that we all have our share of them - words that, when you hear them, automatically turn you off from a game. That doesn't have to mean that you don't look into them further or completely ignore them or anything, but still, a word that, when you see it, generally gives you a good idea you're probably not going to be interested in a game.

A couple for me:
FPS
Cinematic
Action
Bloody/Gore-filled/etc.

That isn't to say I hate all games where those terms could apply, but, generally, if it's one of the key terms used in describing/promoting the game, it's a pretty good sign I'm not going to be interested in it.

I'm sure there are plenty more, but those are just some of the more common.
Commander shepard.

I know I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but "open world".
I don't think you will because it's become the cool thing to describe games as this. What a lot of companies are doing is just making the map massive and calling it an open world. It's open alright but it's not much of a world. Not much going on in there. The term's been whored out to the point where it's meaningless.

Microtransactions and free-to-play are the easy ones for me. Those things can be okay but I've been burned too many times to say I'm okay with them.

Subscription
Pay to win (I actually like some of the F2P games out there that aren't full of pay to play comfortably stuff).
Competitive FPS

MOBA
MMO
Roguelike
Pixel art/8 bit etc. Any new game with the same excuse.
Steam Early Access
"Mine or "Craft" when it's not Minecraft.
Telltale
Indie

Open World
Sandbox

First time through these games like can be fun but soon their clones and sequels come out and it gets quite tiring. If I see these terms being used I'm already weary.

Multiplayer Only
Zombies

I can forgive the former if it is stellar enough to deal with dipshits or I know a good community. The latter I refuse to budge on. I am sick to death of zombies. The only exception to that would be a proper OG style resident evil.

Timers.

Replayability. 95%+ of the time this is just some bullshit marketing term to cover up a lack of content even if the game itself is good.

Multiplayer in single player. Ruined the last few need for speed games.

Social. Fuck off noone cares or wants to see my AC4 pirate shit on their feed.

Indie platformer with a twist. More played out than modern military shooters.

Adventure
Point and Click

I tried very hard to get into Sam and Max, 999, Zak and Wiki and The first episode of the Walking dead plus many others; I simply cannot get any pleasure out of the genre and have given up on it.
