$79.99? I wonder how much the normal edition will be? I would not be surprised if the normal edition will retail at $49.99 or $59.99 :|

WotLK CE was 70 and regular was 40. So 80/50? Because CE content is very similar.
Sounds like it. I guess they'll charge $50 since they're redoing most of the original game along with the expansion.

I'm actually going to get the CE this time around just because I want the FoS Achievement for having Lil' Deathwing... :lol

So much day one it's not even funny.

Ya know, BC content is going to stick out like a sore thumb

You can level through awesome new 1-60 content, then you're stuck in the asslands for 8 levels

Maybe there will be some 60+ stuff on azeroth so you can avoid that hellhole and go right to Northrend.

(yeah I'm a fan of BC :P)

That's likely the case, even though everybody that plays WoW, regardless of whether you buy the expansion, is getting the updated world. The old world is just going bye-bye in favor of the new one and updated graphics engine.

And I agree, Burning Crusade content is going to stick out.

There is probably going to be an unambiguous hierarchy of content quality:

Cataclysm > WOTLK > Burning Crusade > Vanilla patch content > Vanilla launch content

BC is going to be bottom of the barrel.

I love BC content. Similar to how I love going through older content years after launch, or when I skipped over to Dragonblight when I got WOTLK at launch.

No one is there, it's perfect!

You're in Outlands for about 12 hours now if you have heirlooms, its stupid.

Thing is BC was awesome when it was new cause it was this big fight against the burning crusade and it was a really good story. But whats the justification for buggering off to outlands when the whole planet is fucked up? especially with Illidan dead and Kil'Jaeden defeated.

Maybe the Outlands will be lifted out of frame, like Poochie in Itchy and scratchy.

I wasn't playing during BC but I did go through the bulk of the content since, and it is out of place now but still sad to see it become pointless. :(

You could say the same thing about Northrend. We will still go there for 68-80. Even though the Lich King is dead in the Cataclysm timeline, we will still see him while questing in Northrend.

The question is... what happen if you don't buy it?

In the old addons, you still were able to play WoW. You had the server updated to the last version, but you were not able to travel to, for example, Northrend.

But... if it reach day 1 and don't buy Cataclysm... I'll still be able to play WoW? I'll play in "old" Azeroth? Or I'll play in "new" Azeroth?

Old Azeroth will be gone forever. Doesn't matter if you buy Cataclysm or not. It's gone for everyone. And thank god for that.

But they aren't, they are still there in the game.

But they are dead in Northrend/Cataclysm storyline. Doesn't matter if we can still fight them in raid, they have to stay for gameplay purpose. You can't just delete their raid instances once a new expansion is there.

its also an MMO so it really doesnt matter

So if you don't buy it they'll block the new races and levels 81-85.

They will also block all new lvl 80-85 zones/instances in the old world i assume.

Needs more pics. I want to see what kind of mouse pad it comes with. Hopefully not one of those cheapass pads that give my mouse seizures.

Don't try to piece together a logical timeline of events in an active MMO. It just doesn't work. There's a "canon" description of events that shows up in promotional material and some quest dialogue, but at the end of the day you can either be an adventurer that's been around for years, killed Arthas, then saw the Cataclysm, or you can be an adventurer that started killing boars after the cataclysm, then killed Athas later.

It makes no sense, but that's what it is.

I'm just happy Gnomes and Trolls finally get their own starting areas. Have they started the events yet on the live servers for retaking their homelands?

Arthas is dead. The lich king is not.

You know what i mean. The Lich King we will see while questing in Northrend after Cataclysm is released will still be Arthas.

You never know, they may change it to Bolvar. The loading screen of Northrend now has Bolvar on it instead of Arthas.

Yeah. Unless they change the models. to the red eyed version. I wouldn't be surprised if they did that. But that doesn't explain the wrathgate.

Edit: They've also changed the Outland loading screen and taken illidan off it.

I don't foresee them doing any changes to the Northrend plot, as there are too many quests that reference Arthas explicitly that would have to be outright removed if they changed it to somehow be Bolvar instead.

Like I said earlier, MMO continuity and canon timelines are screwy, and you just having to accpt some fuzziness.

Until cataclysm it made sense. As your character leveled up, the story and time continued on in the game. Now we have a situation where a level 1 starts in the future, goes back to the past (BC/WotLK) then at level 80 comes back to the future.

That wouldn't even work. The whole reason Alliance & Horde(Forsaken at least) were in Northrend in the first place was to take revenge on Arthas for what they did to them. Not to mention the Lich King talks a lot during the quests/instances where we see him, Bolvar really don't have the same voice as him. And i'm sure plenty of quest texts have "Arthas" written on them.

I would also mention the ICC instances where you can hear Jaina & Sylvanas clearly saying Arthas, although no one will do these instances anymore. Tirion mention Arthas a lot too.

Nah, it will still be Arthas. Even if it makes no sense. Just like some Outlands quests still mention Illidan or Kaelthas as if they were still alive. Heck, i even met Illidan in person after i was done farming for Netherwing rep a few months ago.
