RP servers are fun, by and large. Just stay away from the ERP (erotic role play) and godmode people. Some of them are just... weird. It's cool to be running through SW and see 2 or more people chatting away in character. It just makes you feel more immersed in the world, I suppose. But I can definitely see why it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I played a while on Argent Dawn EU. It's a lot of fun tbh. I was in a war guild and the immersion was pretty great. You started as a low recruit and could work your way up to sergeant etc etc :p Even fought a battle against the alliance in that castle south of Ratchet. Was like 100 vs 100, a shame I can't find any pictures of it anymore :(

Edit: I found the guild at least: http://www.argentarchives.org/node/30365 If you scroll down to the warlords, I played back with #3 Rickarla Ravenfeather. Damn, they're already at #14 now? It's been longer than I can remember.

Any stories to share?

Well as far as how I ended up in Moon Guard? Me and some friends a long while ago got burnt out on hardcore raiding, and coincidentally a friend was working on a project at the time and needed to work on characterization. So to help we all decided to roll characters on an RP server and RP a simple story line as we leveled. Boy that storyline got out of hand fast but it was a lot of fun. We basically stopped RPing when we got to northrend but by that point we had grown attached to these characters and maxed em out, and eventually we just stopped playing our mains on our home server (which was dying pop wise anyway).

As for Moon Guard stories? Well just the other day I was doing some old achievements in duskwood when my /s lit up around an empty house. Turns out some kids where RPing that their friend was possessed by a spirit and needed an exorcism. Well I play a dorf pally and over hearing this I decide why not jump in? I walk in and say I know my way around the light and might be of use, surprisingly they go with it. I begin "performing" the exorcism, which is me casting a ton of buffs on the possessed followed by a /duel to hit her with an Exo. Naturally the exo 1shot her since she was low level but she rolled with it and acted debilitated after. After all was over one tried to pay me for my services opened trade to give me some silver. I accepted and rp walked away. Then and I kid you not they all just start fucking. RIGHT THEN AND THERE. That is how everything ends on Moon Guard.

Most of the time when I am bored I Go to the church and yell at people for being too loud, brining in demons, totems, being in shadow form or being death knights. Some times DKs would come in and cast desecrate and Id walk over and concecrate but now i cant do that anymore ;(

Being the cathedral grump is really fun though, it is never a dull time.

...I'm on Moon Guard too.
But good moon guard. Horde Moon Guard.

Aww so close but no cigar! It is a really fun server, you may nit find top guilds everywhere but the people are really fun and they sorta make the world feel more alive.

Honestly though RP servers aren't that bad, it's nice to see people engaging in genuine RP out in the world, or seeing a group of people RP walking around talking about something, or anything really it adds a lot to the world experience.

Honestly though it'd be better if people kept their RP more simple and clean, just play your character as a regular person in the world. The best RPer's I've come across are those who either just sit around in the tavern or RP a simple thing such as, their respective class or as a blacksmith or something, the idea is not to set yourself up to be the prince of the universe or some legendary character in the making.

You have no idea how correct you are.

I could list out everything awful that people do on RP servers but it would take years so I'll just say what comes to mind.

1) Being related to a lore character
2) Being a Death Knight (I've never met a DK that can RP something that isn't disgustingly cringeworthy)
3) ERPing in general
4) RPing yourself as a mary sue
5) Building a completely insular RP character where the moment anyone else tries to interact with you in an RP you have to explain why you're so awesome.
and
6) RPing with powers that don't exist in this universe

Remember when this weapon was all the rage?

http://www.wowhead.com/item=41257

:D

Lol I remember that thing because my friend blew all his life savings on it as a PvP weapon before the season weapons released or something weird like that, and then they came out 2 weeks later. I might be remembering the PvP weapons thing wrong but I do know he called that thing his eternal shame.

Haha, that list takes me back. So many awful RP heroes back in the day :p And I loved meeting random people in a bar. Just talking for hours about random stuff :)

Reading a reddit post about wow in "things you would like to experience over for the first time" made me agree. Vanilla WOW was such an experience. I created a Tauren Druid and was simply amazed by Mulgore. It took me 4 hours to leave the starting area. When I eventually did, I saw "Bloodhoof Village" is under attack. I was in a party with my friend (he was playing for a few months before me) and was telling me to stay away from any enemy. I was freaking out about all of those "under attack" messages. So awesome. The world seemed incredibly huge.

Kaelthas has less HP than an elite on Timeless Isle and can barely hurt you. :lol

I did get caught out the first time I attempted it due to the conflag and other annoying stun effects when all four of the council are in play. Once I gamed the system by putting Little Miss Conflag far enough away from the rest that I could burn her down before the rest got to me (as tank, that takes a good few moments more than you might be used to!), it was a doddle.

If I remember right it's easier to solo Kael than it is to 2 man him because of the mind control and other stuff. You can do just about anything right now to be honest, it's kinda nuts.

Me and a friend 2 manned Uld 25 on sunday, and it was really easy, well except for yogg and "no mana allowed general", it was just ret + ele nothing special for the set up. We even did a few hard modes.

They stealth nerfed yogg. You don't even get those random zaps anymore. All you need is dps that can kill it before the adds get out of hand.

How much can a warrior solo?

Depends what you want to solo.

Is there an easy way to solo/duo the first boss of Ulduar? Being a vehicule fight makes it harder than ICC fights...
And Dawg, im pretty sure every classes can solo vanilla and bc raids.Even Naxx is a joke.

Solo killing yogg 10 man is a joke, but killing him on 25 man is frustrating, the adds on phase 3 are just insane. We basically had to have one of us on adds and the other one of us on yogg just railing him.

Warriors should be able to solo Vanilla and TBC content without issue at 90. Wotlk stuff probably shouldn't be too bad with a few exceptions, like ICC, ToC and a few things in Ulduar. But you're probably only gonna be able to do it on 10 man, unless Warrior self healing is a lot better than I remember it being.

The issue with Kael is all the talking and setting up before the fight. Plus waiting for the next phases (like after the weapons). It's actually a long boss fight considering how fast he can be burnt down.

Not as bad as trying to do Onyxia or Malygos with a class that has no range weapons or spells. The flying phase of Onyxia is a pain on my warrior and I have to waste 5 mins on the "vehicule" drake part of Malygos since i can't get him lower than 2500-3000K on the ground phase and cannot continue to attack him while he's flying and talking.

Hah, I see. Haven't solo'd content since like... Wotlk.

Just to give an idea, bosses from AQ for example barely have 400-500k HP from what i remember... When you compare that to the elites of Timeless Isle than have 3000-7000K HP... yeah... you shouldn't be afraid to try them.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
Wait, can a warrior solo yogg in 10 man or do you need a class that can heal itself?

Enraged regen is a 40% heal on 1 min cooldown, that is usually enough to keep a warrior up for any older content.

OT5 is more or less finished. Should I post it now or wait til this thread gets locked?

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Just wanted to say, RIP and GG to this thread! Plenty of fun happened in here :3 this was basically _the_ MoP thread!

GG!

Isn't Moonguard the server where Goldshire is actually Pornshire? With people in underwear typing sex and vulgar stuff?

Luckily most the bad RPers stay there.

Horde RPers version is in Silvermoon, but it's much smaller scaled. Like, I see tons of Orcs of different clans running around Org. Lots of really talented writers who know their lore. But the reason I went there is because RP servers are the best about visiting old world content.

Yay! We downed Siegecrafter with our normal crew tonight and 2 shot Paragons. We got in 3 tries on Garrosh but the raid leader didn't look up the fight so I had to do my best to fill in people on the details.

We're getting more shots in on Garrosh tomorrow night so heres hoping!

Oh my goodness. I've been waiting so long for the faerie dragon mount. Sprite Darters have always been one of my favorite 'lil mobs in WoW! I am a pet collector, so I ordered the bundle. I love that you can get booze from the pup, hah.

So I installed a starter account thinking it might satiate a bit of WoW lust, was playing that for a bit today as a Draenei Shaman.

Good lord are those early levels tedious. Old starting area + no heirlooms or other perks (bags/money/etc.) - ughhhhh. Once you break 10 and then 15 it's probably fine, but I probably played around 2-3 hours and only hit level 8.

Would rather just resub than play that more, but there's no pressing reason to play right now outside of wanting to, so I'll hold on to the money for now.
