Worms Reloaded coming soon to Steam

"I guess this is different than the Xbox Live Arcade game? Can't wait, absolutely love the 2D Worms franchise"

That's Worms 2 Armageddon, isn't it? That's coming to PC (again). This is something different, apparently.

I hope they bring back the ability to import an image and fight on it. I had many exciting battles on my own face.

The last few Worms games have been stripped down compared to W:A. I'd love to see a fully customizable new game with 20+ tile sets, a ton of weapons and the ability to have 8 worms on one team.

And even W:A cut out the awesome weapon editor in Worms 2 had. I really hope Reloaded is a new direction for the series. I have zero interest in more rehashes.

As long as it doesn't allow me to adjust EVERYTHING my way without the crappy 5-stars system like the real Worms 2 on PC I'm not interested at all.

No, I don't think Worms 2: Armageddon has ever appeared on PC.
Team 17's naming scheme is extremely confusing.

In the mainline 2D games there are

PC
Worms
Worms 2
Worms: Armageddon

XBLA
Worms
Worms 2: Armageddon

DS/PSP
Worms: Open Warfare
Worms: Open Warfare 2

Worms: Armageddon (PC) is basically Worms 3. However, they officially stated that Worms 2: Armageddon (XBLA) is a sequel to Worms Armageddon (PC), so it is effectively Worms 4. Now Worms (XBLA) is actually a port of Worms: Open Warfare (DS/PSP) which itself was a remake of Worms (PC). There is also a Worms: Open Warfare 2 (DS/PSP). I don't know whether this game is a remake of Worms 2 (PC) or an original game.

Also for PC: Worms World Party, I think most people are playing Armageddon though, still being patched.

I want to see customizable worms. Like, import a .bmp and put it on top of your worm's head! You could make the justice league or some such shit! it'd be awesome!

Or you know, how about making a new worms game and not Armageddon again?

My favorite thing about worms was the custom games. There were these roper games, and rules were simple bu tthe game was hard:

Per turn:

-5 second timer
-Infinite amount of rope
-1 mine as your only weapon
-Stage borders

To play you had to become a master at the rope. A good turn would be one where you rope out from your hiding spot, then drop a mine ONTOP of a worms head mid swing, then rope back into a overhanging area so someone cant do the same to you. You also had to get good at richocheting your body off walls if you wanted any chance of winning. The shit people pulled off was epic.

The XBLA Worms are roughly analogous to the Open Warfare releases. I wouldn't necessarily call them sequels. They're more like spin-offs. Worms 3 and 4 were 3D.

Do want. Ever since I bought Worms: Open Warfare 2 (amazing game btw), I have been waiting for a new PC installment. I'm glad they're releasing a new game, and not just porting the recent XBLA game- although I have my suspicions that this will simply be an enhanced version of that game. Nonetheless, I will be buying this.

The title suggests that this is a reboot of some sort, so if it's Worms Armageddon with a bunch of improvements I'll be very happy.

As far as 2D Worm games go

Worms (PC) -- Worms 2 (PC) -- Worms: Armageddon (PC) -- Worms 2: Armageddon (X360)

The other games, as far as I'm aware, are all ports or slightly tweaked spin-offs. Worms World Party doesn't really count since it's just Worms: Armageddon but with different single player missions - it was basically the console version for Dreamcast that was oddly ported back to PC even though it was redundant since Armageddon already existed there. Officially, Worms 3D and Worms 4: Mayhem are the proper sequels to the original two games but they're in 3D and I think Worms 4 is PS2 exclusive. Armageddon was the spin-off used to keep the 2D games going.

They were bringing Worms 2: Armageddon to PC though, at least that has always been the plan. Maybe Worms: Reloaded is going to be the updated PC version where they bring back the super amounts of customization from Worms 2. One can only hope! :D

One of the officially released trailers for Worms 2: Armageddon (XBLA) said that it was the sequel to Worms Armageddon (PC). So as far as the 2D games go, it is the 4th one in the main series.

I had forgotten about Worms: World Party, but I guess that Team 17 don't consider that to be a real sequel to Worms: Armageddon.

It's still the plan. There currently is a beta open for Europeans for the Steam version of Worms 2: Armageddon.

That's bullshit though. It's more of a sequel to Worms XBLA with a few weapons and elements from Armageddon (PC) thrown in. It's a step backwards from WA PC in many ways.

I'm not saying you're wrong though. It does seem to imply that in the trailer, but it could just be marketing hype. In any case, it's more of a spin off to me no matter what they say.

I've been waiting for a proper sequel to Worms: Armageddon for years. Please be it! It's about time T17 poured their heart and soul into another 2D instalment.

Team 17's Martyn Brown tweets a clarification about the Worms Reloaded revelation from yesterday. It turns out this is not a new game, but rather the PC version of Worms 2: Armageddon, which was already known to be headed to Steam. Word is: "To clear up a little confusion, just one PC Worms title coming to Steam, it will be called 'Worms Reloaded' - More information forthcoming!"

Not a new game! Oh well, still won't mind having a copy of Worms, so long as it's not a gimped one.

all that's stated in the twitter is that there's only one worms coming to steam. if reloaded is an upgraded w2a, it would entirely make sense to scrap its release.

sounds like they opened up the code for the 360 port and decided to have a little fun with it.

Disappointment. I don't think I will be buying it unless there are major improvements over the XBLA one.

They really need to bring back the old ninja rope physics. The particle effects could use some work too.

God it was good. There's a few clips of roping in the steam trailer but it's hard to tell whether it'll be good or not.

edit: Still looks wonky, it's like the worms centre of gravity is a few feet in front of it.

As usual, us gamers in the UK are being ripped off.

ÂŁ17.99 for this - 40% more or so than the USA equivalent. Lame. $20 is ÂŁ12, damnit.

Hope it comes to consoles. I loved worms back when Armageddon and World Party came out, but got back into it fairly recently as a two-player console game.

It already is on consoles.
Worms 2: Armageddon. :lol

This is essentially what looks like a glorified port of the 360 and PS3 one. (at least, I think it's on the PS3).

This looks like a port of the console version of Worms Armageddon 2, with the new DLC features already included.

I'm full up on Worms with the XBLA iteration being the last product I will ever buy from Team 17. Granted I had only previously purchased World Party, but it still rubs me the wrong way.

I'm only interested if it has decent roping. I played so much Armageddon back in the day (still do from time to time/if I'm drunk enough). Shoppas, RRs, BnG, playing online against crazy drunk Europeans... good times.

If this is really just a PC port of the console version then that is a complete waste of time and resources. They already have a PC version and it's better than the console versions. Just release it on Steam and we're golden.

Bought a couple copies for my wife and I. We've been fans since Worms 2 and have played various console versions, but haven't had a working copy for the pc in years. We didn't much care for playing on consoles, as we prefer mice/kb for thee games.

We're looking forward to release day. I'm also hoping there's a healthy online Steam community to game with too.

I think it will be okay. I know five people, including me, that have bought it so far. I hope it sells.

Yup! It's up alright. Managed to win my first round online out of complete luck, but then it crashed on the results. My Steam handle is Thnikkaman if you see me on.

Its been at the top (or close to it) of the top sellers charts since it was first advertised. Seems to be selling just fine despite the ridiculous price they're asking in the UK.
