It's your reflex to smoke not nessarily nicotine which is the addictive part of smoking . and just cause you can adapt to be insensitive to bacteria doesn't mean it's okay . shit is honestly shit and I'm sure scientifically while smoking is bad living in shit is way worse

A freshly lit cig smells fine to me. But ever since I quit smoking 4 years ago, the smell of a smokers house, clothing, car etc is just so nasty. I never really noticed it being a smoker myself but now I smell it instantly on anyone and I hate it. Just passing someone in a grocery store aisle. That old ass ashtray lingering scent is terrible.

So I guess in order of best to worst:

Fresh smoke.
Normal fart.
Egg fart.
Ashtray.

freshly lit cigs smell okay however the smell that lingers and sticks to everything is awful and near impossible to get rid of.

farts always smell gross unless theyre my own but at least you can get rid of them quickly.

weed stinks start to finish but suffers from the same lingering issue of cigs but you can kinda get rid of it for the most part.

I'm actually worried about my health since entering my current job a few months ago. My boss smokes A LOT and though we don't share the same office, there are days where I spend a lot of time in his office, the place is always filled with smoke, he doesn't even open the windows, it's insane, he smokes non-stop.
I hadn't been exposed to smoke for a very long time before starting work here so in the first few weeks it really affected me, to the point of spending a few nights coughing a lot.

Honestly, I'd find it more disgusting if he was constantly farting instead lol but at least I wouldn't have to worry about my health

I think we need to look at relationships between space and time here.

I like the smell of cigarette smoke if it's fresh and out in the open air. However, if it's in a confined space, that's not going to wash. Stale smoke attached to clothes/yellow teeth is always bad.

A fresh fart will smell badly in a confined space, but if it's one of my own . . . all bets are off.

I'd say smoking most of the time. Then again. I had this one night where..

About 10 years ago in Australia. It was cold. Like 15 degrees not so cold you are frozen but cool enough that you need a thick blanket. You put a limb out and it's cold enough.

And then I farted.

The scene of shit poo and diohrrea were intense. Not real poo. Just the scent that something dead was in my anus.

So bad that I stood out in the cold. Had to air my room. I began to wonder. At what horrid cold temperate would I just not take the blanket off 10 degrees....freezing?

My anus was punishment. What a dire thought.

What smells worse? Farts of course, you guys are nuts if you would rather smell a fart, stop lying.

I'm not a smoker, and I'm glad we don't have smoke filled bars, but a bit of fag smoke ain't gonna kill you. It's like just because regular smokers / regular passive smokers do haave a higher risk from smoke related issues, the odd waft of smoke won't do bugger all.

- In context, if someone blew a gust of smoke in your face it will do no more harm than a gust of fart, but the fart will be 10x more unpleasant.

As a former smoker, I'd say cigarettes are worse by far. Can't stand that smell now. Even when I did smoke I didn't particularly like the smell or taste, but after I stopped it became ten times worse.
