I know he became an icon in an age where there was little detail in games, but man is het a generic elf.

No, it's not him under all that makeup, it's some other guy, Reynolds was busy with other movies when they filmed "evil" Deadpool's scenes.

There are people who think Harvey Dent's CGI was good. Somehow Chris Nolan will get praised for this.
