Worst video game box arts of 2012?

I would've loved to hear Daniel Craigs thoughts about that awful photoshop on the 007 Legends cover. It doesn't even look like him. They just took a photo from Skyfall and removed scars and bruises, replaced the hand and gun, and probably even colored it, because everything seems wrong.

Thank you for this; I've periodically wondered why Wax Figure Daniel Craig was on the cover, and them having to photoshop bruises off an existing promo still totally explains it.

Looks like he's enjoying that...knee to the face?

Gotta love dem spread legs.

I'm going to try and defend this boxart. In fairness, if you were tasked by the publisher to design a "GOTY" boxart full of quotes and logos, this is probably one of the better ways to do it. From a design stand point, it's not as bad as some of the other shit in this thread.

Where's the rest of their faces?

What's worse is the Fuse boxart has plenty of wasted space at the bottom with just shaded orange that easily could have been shunted down a bit to avoid this. Instead, well, it looks utterly stupid.

Batman still takes the cake though for me this year.

So cluttered, and the characters are drawn in a more cartoonish manner than usual. Didn't believe it was even Soejima at first, but it definitely is when you look at the line. Unfortunately.

I hate the Arena cover too, but that's probably just because I hate Labrys.

looks like everyone has got most of the really shitty ones covered, g'job

if i had to nonimate a future one it would be sniper gw 2, its just lame

May not be the worst but :

How unexciting is it? Shepard is just standing there doing nothing, while Mass Effect 2's boxart had him aiming a gun at least.
He's got his chin down, his eyes up and a laser sword in fucking space. Dudebrocity enough for EA.

THe American and Japanese covers are largely excellent, but this one... what an atrocity. There's no coherence there at all.
I like it a lot.
I'm on my cellphone, have to check on the US and JP covers later, but this looks nice, even if a bit confusing.

That cover is fantastic. What are you smoking, the cover is as crazy as the game.

Even if you think it's too busy, it has absolutely no business in this thread.

I think what gets me most on the Inversion cover is the guys facial expression being vacant of any emotion, he may be performing a rather unique spectacle as well as firing a gun at something but rest assured he's dead inside.

The lineart is quality (It's Soejima, so of course it is!), but the composition is fucking awful and most of the characters look wrong. Narukami and Rise are pretty much the only two who look 'right'.

It looks no different to the countless other covers of surly looking dude standing in the centre.

At least you can see his eyes and there isn't a ton of wasted space. Fuse couldn't even manage that.

lol that's exactly what makes Inversion's cover so bad. The concept is kinda interesting, but the execution is horrible.

Seriously, how does a cover like that get approved? Is it confirmed FUSE will release looking like that?

I think I remember from an Insomniac podcast (or maybe just a jstev post) a while ago that they put the title at the top of the cover so it can be easily seen amongst a bunch of other games that may be in front of it on the shelves.

Fuse doesn't even follow that simple rule.
