Is it me, or does that pic look kinda "obscene" for some reason?

Snood boxarts alwayrs rocks, we can't wait for Snood 3 :lol

Wow. F'n intense. I think this thread has been won. People can paste all the 80s/90s Boris Vallejo wannabe box art they want, but this is the truly bad. I am totally feeling the 1992 DekoBoko filter, Difference Clouds, Action bevels and default fonts. And the distrubution of the various logos...true design prowess. As a former graphic designer, I am floored.

I think it's the seemingly random placement of the logos and ratings that really push it over the edge, though.

I would have to say all master system games, but that Karnaaj one is truly horrible.

anyway, here is another terrible master system one:

I quite like that one actually. Its nice and straightforward

I never understand why Phalanx comes up in these threads. It is clearly one of the best video game covers of all time. And lol at the magazine that did a story on it.

Quite honestly, the US TurboGrafix-16 boxes were consistantly some of the worst ever. Only decent one I can recall off hand was Soldier Blade.

Just might be the greatest post I've ever seen on GAF. I think I'll print it out on put it in front of the Crackdown 360 DVD case.

Then you can pretend you're playing a good recent Sega game too! Everyone wins!

Seriously. Whoever thought that's a good idea needs a reality check.

Yeah, they totally should have put five pictures from each of the seperate games on it.

edit: Also, I reckon the God Hand cover has to be an homage to My Hero's cover. That's awesome.

Like there's no other way to improve it...
It looks like a Power Point presentation.

They've come a looong way compared to this.

...What's wrong with that? A cover doesn't need flashy graphics to be good. At least the font is attractive and catches your eye, unlike Valve's Orange disaster. You're just being ridiculous.

Winners!!

WHOA. The stunning CG featured on the "Snow White and the 7 Clever Boys" cover intrigued me so much I did a little research.

Astonishing. Has anyone in the UK played any of these games? I find myself strangely compelled by them.

Edit: Sweet baby Jesus, Sony UK actually lets stuff like this exist on PS2? UK GAFfers, please give me details. I need details.

Phoenix games is nothing new around here and I seen a lot of these games on shelves, not in good game stores mind you, normally in supermarkets or something.

Holy shit. Looks like most of the games use the same engine and same graphics. I can't believe how these shovelware companies can make any money with products like these.

Space Rebellion

Combat Ace

Then the driving games:

Drag Racer USA

And those are actually some of the better looking ones. What's up with all the "games" that seem to consist entirely of random jigsaw puzzles based on dodgy Korean Disney rip-offs ("Herkules", "Mighty Mulan", "Dalmatian 3" etc.)?

Phoenix Games is so my new favorite company. The next time I'm in Europe I'm buying as many of these as I can just to have as conversation pieces :lol

the european REmake cover was weird

RE4, REzero and RECODE Veronica X covers were really great.. but REmake.. ugh..

i dont think it was bad per se.. but just really really weird

Phoenix Games pride themselves on being able to develop, print and ship a game in under three months. From what I've seen so far (I collect some of them just for the lol factor), ONE developer ('Mere Mortals') makes ALL OF THEM. They steal character designs all the time.

As an added bonus here, check out the background art. It's lifted directly from Kingdom Hearts.

They're horrible, horrible games. Yet totally awesome at the same time. Graphics that rival the Nintendo 64 (that's if the game is even 3D, a lot of them are 2D), music ripped from porn movies, controls that just don't work and so on.

G-Force for example, a water skiing game. The objective is to collect gold stars, that's it. That's the entire game. You swing left and right, collecting the stars. The boat in front of you will drive through solid walls, get stuck on jumps, vanish completely. The water is a frozen blob of blue, it never moves. It's beyond depressing.

Here's two of the more amusing ones though!

What a post! Wow. Just wow. Thanks so much. I thought some of D3's Simple series games over here were bad, but clearly Phoenix Games is the winner in this category. I especially love how many of them are random "sequels", without there ever having been an "Air Raid" 1 or 2, or "Dalmatian" 1 or 2.

A few I have my eye on...
