Worth picking up a cheap PS3?

its definitely worth picking up a cheap slim ps3 and replace the hdd with a SSHD
I'm like.... 90% sure the ssd won't do much in the PS3 just like it doesn't do much in the ps4.

Just put in something with a ton of storage

As much as I love the PS4 and Vita, I just cannot let my PS3 go. It still sees play from time to time and gets nice titles from PS Plus.

The Dualshock 4 also works on most of PS3 games, so for people who disliked the Dualshock 3 they can just use the PS4 controller as it is more comfortable.

Go for it.

Holy shit, you can use DS4 on PS3?! That's amazing. I'm replaying a bunch of stuff on PS3 at the moment since PS4 ain't got shit till Uncharted 4.

You can explain as this makes little sense.

Instead of spending 100 bucks ask someone if he's nice enough to lend him one. That's what I did.

Oh so this is a case of "I was talking shit" I get ya

Enlighten me. He already owns a 360 so what's left?

Of the top of my head:

Yakuza 3/4
MGS 4
Demon's Souls
?
Hot Shots Golf maybe?

Ni no Kuni is ok, God of War the worst one of the three, both GTs sucked...Last of Us PS4, Uncharted PS4, Valkyrie Chronicles PS4.

Definitely get one. There are so many good, cheap games available. And PS Plus makes things even sweeter. Although you'll want to throw in a 500GB-1TB drive for all those digital games, since cycling through games by deleting and redownloading on PS3 is a huge pain.

I still use my PS3 - it's a good system.

The best one to get is the PS3 slim. Don't bother with the OG fat PS3 as the fan noise will get on your nerves and it won't be as reliable. The PS2 backwards compatibility isn't quite as comprehensive as you would think for any but the oldest PS3s.

I've had an xbox 360 since 2006 so never really played the PS3 until I bought a second hand Fatty last year.

It is now my favourite console, possibly of all time.
Mine is an old 40GB model with a 600 GB drive now installed. Runs great. :D

Like others have said, the exclusives are really awesome.

Motorstorm series, GT5, Wipeout HD Fury, God Of War III, Demon's Souls, Heavenly Sword, Twisted Metal, Killzone 3, Uncharted series....etc.....etc.

All are brilliant and the games at the moment a really cheap. Currently paying 3 for 5 bucks at my local pawn shop.

Saturday's pickups were Heavenly Sword, Red Faction Guerilla and Brutal Legend. :)

(Also a great BluRay player and media server.)

Going to pick up a slim too, just in case old fatty dies.
He's quiet at the moment though. :)

I bought one that had a broken DVD drive just to play demon souls.

I would have also wanted 3d dot heroes but no digital version.

Was worth it. I say go for it!

It's totally worth it.
Great HD versions of classic PS2 games, Uncharted 2, The Last of Us, Gran Turismo 6 and other great exclusives.
Also, the DPad is better than the Xbox 360s so it's better to buy for example the Sega Mega Drive Collection on PS3.

As for playing PS2 games, it's better to just buy a PS2 Slim for $15 and connect them with component cables.

A BC PS3 is more of a time bomb than amy if the post Jasper 360s. If you don't already own a PS3 then absolutely buy one for the low, but get a newer model like one of the slims.

If I had more time for games and it came with a decent HDD, I'd do it. Plenty of great stuff to play that never appeared on 360. My BC one died last year and PS4 still has not managed to fill its shoes for me.

My best friend just did this and he's loving it, prepare for the UI to suck and the download list to be unusable though.

I'm grabbing a pre-owned SuperSlim this weekend to sit alongside my PS4 and XboxOne.

Got the urge to play some of that Demon Souls and go back to actually finish a bunch of games I never got around to.

$150 AUD at EBGames...not bad!
