Its worth it for the Wii backlog alone, I played so many great wii games since I never owned one before I got my Wii U. Some including No More Heroes 2, RE 4 Wii Edition, Trauma Center/Trauma Team, Xenoblade Chronicles, Madworld, Red Steel 2, the last story and so many more.

As for non mario games theres Wonderful 101, Rayman Legends (the best version by far), Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, and Fatal Frame 5 should be coming soon in Oct soon.

Since it has a okay back catalog, then I think it's worth it. The quantity isn't there but the quality is, especially if you've missed out on its past 3 years of releases. Hasn't got a lot to show for its age but what it does have shouldn't be missed by anyone.

Note that I went PS3-only last gen, so I missed out on almost all of the original Wii's library.

I'm just gonna stop you right here. Anyone who suggests to someone in your position that the Wii U is not worth getting, or that it's better to buy a Wii, is dead wrong. The Wii U is the best way to experience Wii games on a console. You wanna hook up a SCART cable to your TV and play Dot Crawl: The Video Game? No, you don't. You get HDMI, and you get the option to take your Wii games Off-TV.

If anyone has any non-Mario recommendations for either system, that'd be cool also.

You owe it to yourself to play Xenoblade Chronicles. It's not really viable to play it on the original Wii, due to how expensive the game disc is. It's on the Wii U eShop for a more sensible price.

Summary: I'm indecisive and I need a push. Help!

If people are suggesting to wait for NX, then people should might as well wait for PS5 as it would probably have bc and Uncharted 4k HD collection.

Wii U is still a good console if you want to play Nintendo games. Time is limited, and by the time NX is out, you'll have a massive Nintendo backlog.

Also, please don't listen to the people who actively hates on Nintendo and Wii U.

Yes a WiiU is worth it now that all the fun games are out and ready for you to get them and play them. If the WiiU isn't worth acquiring for you now it will never be, this is the best time to get it since pretty much all the big games are out right now.

I mean I can only speak for me but it was worth it the day Monster Hunter 3U got announced. The rest were things I knew would arrive (when are we getting a console without Smash? LOL ain't happening') so there so no surprise.

Stuff like Splatoon was a huge bonus.

Your mileage may vary, though, but that said...

You already have Bayo 2, decision seems obvious.

Get refurbished, that's extra $$$ saved.

EDIT: Never had a Wii? Holy hell, getting a U is a no-brainer. Don't forget the Metroid Prime Trilogy for $20 on the eShop!

But really, OP should check out the original Xenoblade game. It gave me some great times and really reminded me of a modern take on the best SNES jrpgs.

If I were you instead of waiting for the NX, I would get a Wii U refurb for 200 bucks, a few of the greatest games, and get an NX in its second year of release.

I didnt. I just don't understand what makes now any different than six months ago or even a year. Surely the OP can figure out on their own if the Wii U has enough games currently to make purchasing one worthwhile.
