Would Fallout 4 being Xbone exlusive be a #gamechanger?

Would it be a big enough acquisition for Microsoft, to tempt people to overlook the anti-consumer hardware in favour of a must-have Fallout 4?
There's rumours that Respawn's new I.P will be Bone exclusive, but I think a bigger scoop would be something like Fallout, which is already a highly established franchise, but not too big for Microsoft to throw money at (like CoD)
For me it wouldn't, but what about you? How would you feel if it did go exclusive, going forward?

No. Games aren't going to be enough to eliminate the concerns around the Xbox One's policies and system architecture. Games aren't the cause of the problem so games won't fix the problem.

It's like when Sony made the PS3 $599. No amount of game announcements was going to be enough to change the public opinion of "It costs too much". Microsoft needs to address the issues accordingly.

Not really, not on a significant enough scale. I think the only exclusivities that could realistically be "gamechangers" (hate that term) would be Call of Duty or FIFA. I don't even want to think what kind of money either one of those would cost to keep them exclusive...

It is biggish but it's one of those games that will probably be released on PC anyway.

If it is true exclusive and looks really good then sure, I can see it being the biggest game Xbone has for a while (wait... how big is Forza again?).

I dunno about gamechanger tho. PS4 supposedly has FFXV so I guess they both have a RPG of around same calibre with the exeption that FF prolly will not release on PC especially if the rumours of Sony helping with development are true.

We already know CoD and Fifa will never be exclusive (outside of DLC) otherwise I think that exclusivity would have been announced on the 21st.

I really enjoy the new Fallout but I wouldn't consider a single game an "gamechanger", unless it was something that played to my preferred niche like Moba's (which I don't really want on a console) or Street Fighter 5 (considering it is as good as SF4).

does anyone else think all this talk of third party exclusives is just a desperate attempt to try to return to the past, or "the good old days"? i don't see any reason to believe things won't continue as they are now

The only game changer for me would be Grand Theft Auto, and not like exclusive DLC or something. XBone would have to be the only system (PC included) that had GTA 5/6/7 whatever.

I don't think the conversation is unjustified as MS needs something to wash the stains of their many mistakes out.

Madden
Call of Duty
GTA

These are the only franchises big enough to be a gamechanger in NA if made console exclusive. They are also three franchises that will never be console exclusive.

No. The only potential gamechangers would be GTA or COD.

Maybe Madden and FIFA as well, but EA is obliged to bring these games to a minimum number of platforms.

Personally, I will never buy a console that doesn't work offline.

every third paty exclusive in the recent past has been only a temporary exclusive..i don't see why this should change next gen..so it wouldn't even bother me.

There are no games that could sway me to put up with MS and their anti-consumer practices. My favorite games of all-time are Dark/Demon's Souls, but if the next iteration after DS2 became a permanent Xbone exclusive, I would happily live without it.

The way I see it, buying an X1 (assuming things remain as they seem- no used games without a fee (and I rarely ever buy used) and forced on-line always- not to mention everything MS will hide behind a pay-wall as a "feature") and supporting these practices is a betrayal to all gamers and a sleepy acceptance of the good things we love about gaming being taken away from us. The only power we have as consumers is the power of our spending. I will not allow the hobby I love to be taken in this direction, if I have any voice at all, but all I have is a single vote.

Nah, FallOut games are fun on PC with the possibilities of mods... :P
Putting it on console isn't gonna tempt me, I'll wait it out for a PC version~

I am a huge Fallout fan but would most likely just wait for the PC version. Assuming no PC version came out? I would honestly skip out on it, I don't want to support Microsoft's used / borrowed game practices (unless they drastically change between now and launch.)

Question...

If a knock on Microsoft is that it doesn't care about games, why would its effort to land major "core" exclusives not matter?

The issue of games isn't particularly significant when we know that E3 is coming in the next few weeks. The 'knock' on Microsoft comes in the form of anti-consumer hardware and overall scattered focus as a device to play games (the TV stuff being the biggest offender) which won't be remedied by any amount of exclusives, for some people.

i find it really hard to believe that Bethesda or EA would make exclusives this day and age unless its a hardware thing like a Wii U screen -ZombiU level stuff.

The thing I don't see Xbox One as the console I have to have. I use my console for gaming. Nothing else. The thing is even if a Fallout game would be exclusive I wouldn't really buy one for it, no point buying a console for one game (to me). Though Fallout is one of my favorites.

I'm not sure if Bethesda would want to cut out what could be a large chunk of their user base by going exclusive with Fallout 4. If for some reason this did happen, then I'd wait for the PC release, but my plan has been to go for the PC version of multi-plats.

They would still probably screw up the memory allocation on the PS4 version even with it being unified....

Just get ready to start creating those "Exclusive" lists filled with Kinect games..
