• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Would you actually be bothered if consoles were pushed to next year?

Nah wouldn't care.
I appreciate backwards compatibility but I'd still mainly want one for new games and so far the launch lineup of both system is shaping up to be really poor. I liked Spiderman but I won't spent $500 to play a lower scale spinoff.

At the same time though I don't know what we'd gain from a delay. I imagine at this point it's too late to make any changes to the hardware and I also don't think they'd be cheaper if they launched next year.

Sony has nothing either. Miles Morales is not a system seller, sorry and will be a short game, also cross-gen.

Godfall and Bugsnax is top tier launch title piles of shit. Bugsnax looks like a PS3 game and Godfall seems extremely generic.

Kena looks great but is just a cross-gen indie game.

MM is absolutely a system seller. Also its not cross gen. Paired with Godfall, (which is going to sell, we all know it, regardless of what the bubble thinks about it) Kena and Deathloop, on top of all the other third-party titles.

It's counter-intuitive to delay just so they can launch with other titles when it's going to sell out anyway.

Spiderman Sold >13M units, more than any Microsoft game in the Xbox One ecosystem.

And it's not cross gen, so cut the bullshit

Yes because I'm ready for new tech. If you ask this question due to the lack of launch titles then I understand but people need to be patient, the games will come.

Don't wanna sound mean here but dude, I'm not gonna spend my money on some new tech that has no games.

Sony themselves are a system seller though everyone knows what they will get ..

Imho it ain't all about launch titles with these machines they will play our current games as well as anything new out and what are people gonna do if they do release them on time not buy them ? Fat chance of that happening people will buy these machines in the millions from day one regardless of how many magical launch titles available .

Yes, there's no way hardware can change and having units sit in warehouses will not make them any cheaper. Come out this year and we can get nice bundles next holiday when there are good games

Fable, Scorn, and Awoved will be fantastic games as well and with Halo Infinites delay hopefully that as well.

Either way, if you are a real gamer both systems will give you great titles. But for launch, both are lackluster.

Avowed
Fable
Scorn
Everwild
State of Decay 3
Halo Infinite
Forza Horizon Next
Forza Motorsport Next
Gears Next

Horizon Forbidden West
Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart
Demon's Souls
God of War Next
Naughty Dog Next

And I am sure PS5 will have plenty more. I cannot wait for both.

That's a great question. There was a time where new console releases were such a big deal for me. I became obsessed with reading all the coverage and saving up money. Talking with friends to see which one I would buy first.

I feel very little of that this coming gen. I want an XSX, but if it got delayed another year, I don't think I would bother me that much. I feel like both consoles would have much better launch lineups in a year.

It's hard. Console generations had obvious advantages or evidence of reward in graphics in the past. Now when I see new games, I'm not really that impressed.

Bothered? Why would I be bothered? The next generation of consoles supposedly launching in 90 days and still having no price given, but it might possibly be delayed? After waiting this long to hear SOMETHING solid?

Psh. I'm perfectly fine right now.

With my current situation due to this covid pandemic?
Probably yeah, there is a chance I won't be joining on the fun at launch so next year would seem better at the moment.

Yep, new consoles long overdue.
Not sure why some people say they should be delayed on basis of worldwide economy... Believe me, things will not be any better financially for the next year or two.

I would be really annoyed. I completely skipped PS4 and only have a PS3 as far as consoles go.
At least I still have my PC and new videocards should be on the way soon.

It's like having kids, there's never a good time or enough money, you just make it happen.

I don't have kids btw, I'm too selfish with my time and money. I need these consoles for entertainment purposes and a reason to get away from the wife. Football season only lasts so long and this is the only other reason to live for this fall/winter,so yes, I'd be disappointed!

I wouldn't mind personally due to my backlog, and because I'm still waiting for OLEDs to drop further in price and can hold out a bit longer. (Will need to buy both at the same time).

Still expecting these consoles by the end of this year though.

I'm already completely unexcited about them, so... no. Hopefully, there'll be a good reason to pick them up down the road, but that sure as shit isn't going to happen this year.

I am saving spiderman, TLOU2 and Ghosts for ps5, so it better come out soon.

Not at all, nothing I've seen yet screams throw money at something new just because it's new. Lots of people have been put in bad situations this year, so me getting a new toy just isn't a priority in life anymore to get worked up if they pushed to the spring. Honestly, the idea of having to order a system to be shipped, and potentially damaged or taking way longer to get here then expected cause you know..holiday season shipping in the US, or the worse idea of having to go to a store that doesn't care enough to make sure people are masking up during peak flu season just doesn't put me in the mood to care much either.

MLB doesn't come out til March, and I can just keep playing Destiny 2 on my current system. Those are the two things I am looking forward too at this point. I'll buy Spiderman and Ratchet, but neither are system sellers. Spiderman SOLD a ton of copies, but people were not running out buying PS4s just to play Spiderman. The install base was already huge and there, people buy new games when they own a system.

Not even a little bit. Plenty to play on my PS4, I will not get through even this year's releases which I've already pre-ordered. No need to rush as far as I'm concerned.

I wouldn't be too bothered. I still have a mountain of games to play. Still I'd like to play them in better quality on PS5. :messenger_winking:

I couldn't care less. As soon as I heard Ubisoft were locking people to 30fps again I jumped ship to PC where I now have what is essentially a next gen console with much more choice on top. It cost a lot more sure but 60fps in every game aswell as graphical choices are worth the extra $500 to me.

Nothing stands out atall for either of these consoles so I wouldn't mind, release it with a good selection, something that's non-existent on either.

Before Sony Fanboys start going "BUT MILES MORALES" I still stand that it was supposed to be a standalone DLC for PS4, doesn't mean its going to be bad but not exactly system seller software for me personally.

Don't think I could stomach listening to the **** warriors banging on about their console of choice for another six months

so far i haven't heard a single confirmed next gen game i would want with release date, so no. if we knew Demon's or Elden Ring or something was a launch day title then yes i would a bit disappointed. but so far there haven't been any confirmed dates as far as I'm aware. so it wouldn't surprise me.

as long as Nintendo drops a megaton by the end of the year for my Switch, i'll be good with 2020.

I would be completely fine with it.

Now, if FF VII: Remake Part 2 was a launch title this year for PS5 then it be a different story.

I don't plan on getting it anytime soon, but I am fine with them coming out now anyway. Might as well let people fight over pre-orders for 8 months and work out any production errors. Get a few games down in price, and maybe even a bundle or something.

I can understand people wanting Xbox to be delayed but...

Sony will have 5 million PS5's already made by the end of next month and another 5 million will be made by December.

On top of that they have three big exclusive launch titles (Spider-Man, Kena, Godfall) with possibly more on the way.

Yes. I'm ready to retire the PS4s or give them to the kids full time.
The fan noise bothers me that much.
My PC and One X have been holding me over in the mean time.

I would understand. But I'd only be okay if they offered a gift horse as compensation. Doesn't have to be a literal gift horse, but something.
