Yes.

I wanted to play Flight simulator, so when series x were easily available on last december on stores, I just walked in and bought one to play it.

I bought gamepass ultimate for ~90€ for 3 years total, so I have played other games too, but originally I wanted xbox only for flight simulator. It is also the first xbox I got as new.

Guilty as charged, hahaha. PS3 ended up being one of my favorite console generations though, so it all worked out in the end, I suppose!
That really was the best gen. I was dissapointed with my PS3 but if I wasn't getting all my 3rd party games on 360, I might have been more than happy with it.

I think most ppl looking back regardless of console preference think that was a great generation for all sizes and scopes of games.

If I ever thought I would only play one game ever on a console no but I have bought consoles for only one game released at the time I bought it so in that sense yes. As of now I only bought the Series X for Forza Horizon 5 but looking forward to some future exclusives.

Aren't Yes and Depends on Game the same thing? If the answer is depends on game, then there is potentially a game that would get you to buy a system for, so the answer is Yes.

I bought a PS3 for MGS4 and a PS4 for Bloodborne.

You will anyway find other games for the system afterward.$

EDIT : and I will probably buy a Xbox at one point for Lost Odyssey

For the record I think the days of buying a console for one game are long over.

A person can go buy an Xbox or PlayStation and have access to 100s of games by subscribing to Playpass or Gamepass.

The question should really be would you buy a secondary console for 1 game? Since the content overlaps so much.

Yes and I have a few times as have many I know. Not to say you definitely won't play other games later.

Well, I did it for Mario 3D World on Wii U: one of the best Mario ever with Mario Galaxy.
It was really worth it, I enjoyed so much this like never, it was so fresh.

Bought a PS5 for Returnal after watching a playthrough of the first biome, then about a week later it's PC release leaked. I'd have bought one eventually but it accelerated my plan.

I also arguably picked up the Switch OLED for BotW but I've bought a load for it since so...

I wouldn't buy it just to play that one game and I don't think the questions was meant that way? So yes one game could trigger me to buy a console with the intention to play other stuff on it as well.
I actually was in a similar situation as OP and opted to go the console route for now and so far I am very happy with it. The kicker was the Demon Souls Remake and being able to play all the other PS4/5 games I missed the previous generation with PS+.

Yes!And if you are curious for what kind of games for example:Dragons Dogma 2
For huge RPG with lots of content for games like Path of Exile orDemons Souls
Or strategy games like Dune with lots of content

Sure, but you always end up buying other games for the same console so it's not REALLY for one game.

I bought switch mostly for botw and a future metroid prime 4 but i ended up buying another 2 games for it.

Play Strange Journey and thank me later bro
Yeah sure! I tried it and looked amazing, but left it on the backlog since I was starting to get a bit burned on SMT after playing P5, SMT IV and SMT IV:A one after the other.

I'll get back to it eventually, of course.

Yes, definitely.

I bought a Dreamcast for Soul Calibur, an Xbox 360 for Halo 2 (backwards compatible), and an Xbox One for Halo MCC. Of course, other games came along that made owning those consoles even more rewarding.

I have been considering getting a PS5 to play Killzone ShadowFall.

Every Playstation console I own was purchased so I could play Gran Turismo. I stopped at GT5 and GT6 because I ended up barely playing them compared to GT1-4.

I would and have for Gran Turismo. If they can improve GT7 a bunch I probably will again at some point as it doesn't look like it'll come to PC.

Many of my consoles have been brought because of one game. The latest example being PS5 because of that Demons Souls remake. Of course there's almost always other exclusive games I get for the platform at some point, but the list of games that makes a PS5 essential for me is very short and keeps getting shorter.

Got the Wii U for the Wind waker remake, that was all.

OG Xbox for Halo.
