I'm retarded?
By earlier I mean 1 year minimum and by games I do not mean some indie/AA game, we already have Early Access for some of those. I mean BIG AAAAAAA games like Red Dead Redemption 3 or TE6 or Cyberpunk Orion, these kind of games. Lets say devs get lazier and companies greedier in the upcoming future (as if thats not already a thing) and they come up with a way for you to beta test and play the entire game from start to finish 1 year advance. Yes that may include tons of bugs and missing assets here and there, but overall it's feature complete. Would you pay 200-300 smackaroos for the "honor"? Or hell nah? You would essentially pay to be a beta tester.

NO. I am quite happy that I usually play games at their final patch phase. So at least the most obvious gunk is already out of the system. Thanks to all the paying beta testers. Early access already exists, so I guess enough people are really into that kind of kink and self flagellation. Star Citizen being the most prominent current example.

What you describe is just "early access" and the concept is too pay less for a "not finished product"...not more. I dont see why this shouldnt be an interesting concept for AAA corpos as well. A few are even doing this already (BG3 had one year EA for example).

It depends on the kind of the game. If it's a game like they no longer do it, an Uncharted, where polish is part of the experience then no. But if it is the kind of game that evolves the more time it passes, where even a small patch can change the experience… AND I want to accompany the devs on that journey, then I already did it.

I bought the crazy expensive Civilization VII edition because I knew that even the day one patch would be a different game. And that the first months it'll morph the game continuously since the features where divisive in the community.

I already did with Path of Exile 2. Paid $30 and it's free at the end of the year. I wouldn't for a story game like GTA6, but an isometric RPG that I play for the loot grind and not the story, sure.

Of course no, it would be like giving your dog a treat after he pisses on the carpet.
You need to be firm for their own good.
