The environment in the first pic looks photorealistic.

I look at these pics and say to myself

"1/3 the power"

Then I absolutely freak out at how awesome next gen's gonna be.

It looks off. Not even close to being realistic.
Reflections are nice and the models seem to have more polys than this gen, but it's not a huge leap from in-game PGR2.

Gameplay shots please, thanks BC.

And (very) old, maybe? At least #1 and #2 are.

Yes, they're all very old shots. Relatively speaking, anyway, they're from the E3 period of images.

Bizarre Creations: Fighting against the PD0 backlash since 2005™

[edit]

It's a shame that the effort they'd need to pull, to gain back my fandom after the PGR2 blunder, is unfathomable. Unless God himself oversaw development.

I'm just going to say "Holy fuck" and leave this thread. After seeing those pics, that's all I can contribute.

Holy fuck.

Just out of curiosity, what is it you didn't like about the game? I find it to be the most fun I've had with a racing game this gen.

As for online-based racers of its type (arcade/driving), I think PGR2 was the best of 2003. It's too bad that it sold like crap.

While these screens do look very nice...what the hell type of reality do you guys live in if this is photrealistic? Bloom lighting should only be used when in hazy conditions IMO

Looks nice, but could use some work on the car models. Are the bgs realtime? I don't see why they'd need to use renders or photos. The game can't be that early in dev, is it? And bloom is this gen's DOF/lense flare/cel-shading. The single effect that will be abused to hell and back. :( PEACE.

I just hope they calm down the games a.i. abit. PGR2 had the cpu spinning my ass abit too often on the gold and platinum medal runs. You dunno how many times I feared an opponent in my rear view mirrior, heh. It was a whole different story online though, fuck the game was fun all around. I sorta left the single player alone and played online alot after that.

Other than that, the games looks great. I'll buy this at launch.

Lets wait for some in game shots before we pop a boner no?
Whats with all you guys posting shots of cgi movies and getting all pumped up(like the gears of war thread for example)?

Hasn't anyone learned from the past two generations to not take these obvious
marketing tricks for face value? You guys can't be that gullible....

and then you realized that is just a piss poor excuse thats been used to justify the issues crap devs have been having.

"Just out of curiosity, what is it you didn't like about the game?"

unfinished game, flawed structure (car classes, my biggest complaint) that not only wrecked single player but made multiplayer a pain, play doh cars, the fact that they messed with PGR's controls wich were the holiest of holys to have graced a home console since Sega Rally Championship on sat, that the track layouts in the new cities SUCKED COMPLETE SHIT next to the hallmark layouts founded in MSR and PGR. etc, etc, etc... In PGR2, they basically threw away everything, even the good stuff, to keep only the theme and start from scratch, making many, many errors in the process.

Oh and the game didn't even look good to make up for it's 30 fps. even SegaGT managed better models and lighting.

too bad it's a racing game :(
It's been said before and I'll say it again:
Ridge Racer is a racing game
Forza is a driving game
GT is a driving game
Need for Speed is a racing game
PGR is a kickass unique experience

if your problem is in cars in general...then you won't find much to like in PGR...but PGR is unique in that you can still love the game even if you dislike other car games

How the hell do you differentiate between driving and racing games?

I just wanna see an in-game shot. With the UI and shit, no half in-game and photoshop (if true).

Looks like games that try to be realistic are 'driving' games? They are all racing games as far as I'm concerned. Though I guess you could consider GT4 and Forza car collecting games if you wanted :P

In racing games, the goal is to be the fastes. In driving games, it's to be the best.

Since games came out that required more, or other things, of the player than being the fastest.

In a Racing game, the first position finish or shortest possible lap time would be the goal, in a driving game, those might also be goals, but style (a la PGR), risky driving (a la burnout), amount of pedestrians killed (a la carmageddon) could also be ways to attain the goal of beint the 'best' as is defined b the rules of the game.

Seems Gattsu25 would dissagree with that logic since it seems to place GT4 and Forza as racing games while NFSU as a driving game.

Nah...just a bit of the "GT3/4 isn't a racing game, it's a driving game" BS logic :b

I wonder if, with all this power, they'll still spend it all on the main view and we'll be left with no rear view mirror..

It's going to have FULLY MODELLED INTERIORS for all the 80+ cars. I think it's going to be amazing, my most expected launch title for sure..

Yeah, fully-modelled interiors are cool. Though I figured they would've been sometime this gen. Ah well.

EDIT: I remember the dashboards are fully functional too for each car.

that looks ace - but i`ll seriously hope. there will be some gameplay and feeling changes (just like in the vision of gt video) and not a pgr 2 with better visuals game.

mmm, to me that honor goes to:

But don't worry, it didn't sell well neither :P

it sold like half-million just in US. And almost 10K paid for the DLC

If PGR3 looks this good now, why the hell didn't microsoft feature it more significantly at e3?
Because the framerate would have been awful. And it's simply out of the question for a racing game.

I don't believe the pics are real in-game shots.

Sorry, but after the ruse Sony pulled with the PS3, my optimism is shot as far as next-gen consoles go.

If that's ingame its impressive, but of course its not. Sad considering my home videos on my pice o shit camcorder still look more "photorealistic" (is this even a word)
