William Regal comes out and talks about last week’s Smackdown as footage is shown. Bobby Lashley jumps Regal from out of the crowd and the fight breaks out onto the announce table. Agents and referees rush out from the back to separate the two. It is announced as Lashley v. Regal, with the stipulation being if Lashley wins he gets a match with King Booker.

Psicosis (w/ Super Crazy) d. Brian Kendrick (w/ Paul London)
Match saw a great finish with Psicosis giving Kendrick a version of a belly-to-belly from the top rope. After the match, The Great Khali came down and dominated all four men.

Vito (wearing a white dress) d. Nunzio

Bobby Lashley d. William Regal via count-out as King Booker and Queen Sharmell look on from a makeshift throne.

Mark Henry d. Raymond Rowe in a squash match

Mr. Kennedy d. Scotty 2 Hotty in his return match

Smackdown Bikini Contest w/ Ashley, Jillian, Kristal, and Michelle McCool
McCool rants on about how the media portrays teachers and refuses to disrobe. Ashley Massaro wins.

Michael Cole then gets in the ring and says he hears rumors that Paul Heyman is trying to get Rey Mysterio to jump to ECW, and Cole wants Heyman to set the record straight. Tazz interrupts Cole, and says that he doesn’t know about Rey, but he knows that he has made up his mind. Tazz says that he is going back home, to the place where he belongs. He says that he had a lot of fun with the WWE on Smackdown, but he’s done. Tazz then walks out and meets with Heyman and they hug.

Rey Mysterio’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring to confront Paul Heyman. He says that ECW gave him his start in the United States, but he is living a dream in the WWE and on Smackdown. He says he isn’t going anywhere. Heyman wishes Rey the best of luck this Sunday and tonight against Finlay, because he says Rey is going to need it. Heyman then joins Cole for commentary.

Finlay d. Rey Mysterio after Sabu poses as a distraction and Finlay hits Rey with his shillelagh and his Emerald Fusion finisher. Sabu then places Rey on a table outside the ring, springboards off the top rope, and delivers a leg drop to Rey through the table. Smackdown goes off the air.

He'll lose there too.

Edit: I read on a wrestling forum that Austin Aries and Roderick Strong's contracts with TNA are up and it's unknown whether they'll be offered new ones. They would be awesome in the new ECW.

well at least Rey loosing kinda sets up the match at ONE NIGHT STNAD a small bit better

Finally, some set up.

After thinking about it today, I am no longer expecting much from ECW.

I could listen to that for HOURS. William Regal is the man.

Its official about Rey:

He is the worst book champion of all time. Come on, FInlay???? Finlay???? I know its non title, but Finlay who has not done so hot as far as his W/L record goes, going over on the champ, even with outside distraction makes no sense. Why couldn't Sabu just have attacked Rey AFTER Rey beat Finlay...damn...Who's Coffee did Rey masturbate in to get treated like this???

Totally screwed up his title reign. It could have been awesome, but no, they had to **** him.

It's Vince reminding him weekly that he's a midget and he should be glad people are dead or hurt because Vince would otherwise never put a belt on a man smaller than the belt itself.

This is Vince we're talking about. You know he's thinking this.

Vince needs competition--serious competition like WCW was in the 90s. Without it he is able to impose his slightly insane will on the company more than ever. He lowballs superstars on contracts, buries smaller guys more than ever, and green lights storylines/characters that would have made people scratch their head during the "kayfabe era"-- things weren't like this when WCW was around.

I hope TNA can find a real financial backer. The company has taken a constant loss but they need some one who can afford to take a relatively large hit while TNA estabishes itself as a viable competitor to WWE. Impact gets closer and closer to Smackdown in the ratings with mid-90s WCW Nitro mainevents and a bunch of indy guys. If they were able to get some bigger names(Brock, Jericho, etc..) and begin to tour larger markets they could possibly challenge Vince, or at very least light the creative flame that he and his people used to have.

Panda Energy has more money than Vince. They just don't really have anyone to go after! There's no real marquee names out there that will help them draw a larger audience. Jericho doesn't WANT to come back, and no one knows if Brock is allowed to wrestle in the US due to the settlement of the lawsuit being sealed.

Apparantly Goldberg wants WAYYYY too much money for the amount of appearances he'll give. Hell, they gave Sting $500,000 for a year of just working PPV matches. They have money to toss around.

BTW, TNA turned a profit recently. A lot quicker than they expected.

The main reason the big bucks aren't being thrown around is that damn 11 PM time slot. Why spend a ton of cash for a late night, one hour TV show? No matter what you do, it's impossible to pull primetime numbers at 11 pm.

It appears it took two people to beat Rey, so it doesn't seem THAT bad. Now if Finlay's little friend beat up Rey, then it would be a problem. Plus it did set-up the PPV match, just like RVD laying out Cena...wait that didn't happen did it? lol Either way, Rey is champ, he is getting PPV payoffs, he is winning championship matches so I am sure he could care less if he loses every Smackdown match as long as he wins at the PPV and keeps the belt.

Angle's first run with the title was the worst booked of all time. He lost matches, was in the first hour, sometimes first segment, he was total a comedy figure while Steph and HHH were the focus of the show.

That's more JBL's style isn't it?

And TNA has apparently put the ixnay on their talent doing interviews/radio shows with any profanity.

The thing is Orton has actually DONE the whole shitting in gym bags thing. He's a rampant sexist and an all around asshole who's lucky to still have a job. If Smackdown were'nt in such bad shape he'd be on the unemployment line.

The guy is a cancer.

As for TNA, well when you tape once very few weeks and your guys are spread all over the place doing indy shows I can see where the difficulty can lie, but not even returning PR calls? That's unacceptable.

Sad news folks, another one passes away. :(

John 'Earthquake' Tenta Passes Away
Date Added: June 07, 2006
Story By: Daniel Edler
Source: WWE.com

"John "Earthquake" Tenta passed away this morning at the age of 42 after a lengthy battle with bladder cancer. Tenta is survived by his wife and three kids."

RIP John.... You put up a hell of a fight to the bitter end.

Bummer news about the Earthquake - his fight against the cancer had gone on so long, I thought he'd pushed it into remission again. What a shame.

I'll look forward to this week's Wrestlecrap update, as it should be a tribute/eulogy to Tenta being as how he's been close to the site for a long time.

Tenta is one of the most underrated heels of all-time. He had great feuds with the likes of Hogan,Sting, Savage and Ultimate Warrior. I remember being like "WTF" when I was a kid and he came out of the crowd and destroyed The Ultimate Warrior. He was also an integral part of what is no doubt one of the best periods of tag-team wrestling as part of The Natural Disasters.

RIP Quake.

For someone that honestly does not remember, can you tell me how his role was any different that Mark Henry's today?

It was a lot different. Tenta wasn't an 8 year vet who spent that entire time either as a low/midcarder or on the shelf, only to suddenly be pushed into a role where he started destroying the companies top names. Upon his debut Cena took out the Ultimate Warrior, and if I recall immediately entered into a feud with Warrior & Hogan. He then made the transistion and was part of one of the most memorable tag-teams of all time.

The main difference, though, is that unlike Henry, Tenta's work in the ring was stiff and unispired. What he limitations he faced because of his stature he made up for with his in-ring psychology, and his ability to "tell a story" in the ring. Besides, there was never talk of giving Tenta the WWE or WCW titles, which would have been a mistake IMO.

Since there is only three matches (booked as of now) and two hours... unless they have long matches, I would say that WWE has been waiting for this night to start doing development for the ECW PPV on Sunday.

A very shitty idea, but development nonetheless (if that happens)

I predict many, many ECW video packages to remind people of ECW was, though Vince, Angle and Paul have all said that the new ECW will be something completely new.

Yep. That way if the new ECW does suck, all the people who never saw ECW can be disappointed with it as well.

....and then cut to a bx of ECW DVDs and tapes the pan up to see Vince pissing all over it just like he's going to do to the company's legacy.

As this gets closer, I find myself more disgusted with it.

Breaking News: Credible Signs With ECW, Debuting Tonight
Date Added: June 07, 2006
Story By: Ryan Clark
ECWWrestlingNews.com is reporting a breaking story this afternoon and that is that Justin Credible has signed on with WWE for the new ECW brand. As a matter of fact, the day his no-compete clause with the MTV project expired is the same day he signed his contract with WWE. Credible is scheduled to be at tonight's ECW vs. WWE special on the USA Network.

Credible makes his return to a WWE-owned brand for the first time in over three years. He was released in early 2003 after falling by the wayside on the RAW brand. During a period of his time away from the mainstream scene, Credible reportedly worked at a Target department store.

Means nothing without Lance Storm and Dawn to complete the team. Justin SUCKED terribly when I last saw him. He wrestled Raven on a TNA PPV and just stunk up the joint.
