Even though SD cant be canceled that does not stop WWE from changing it to a ECW only show somewhere down the line and having WWE stuff only on RAW and ECW stuff only on SD (with a name change)...

Yes it does. WWE is not buying time on CW to put on anything they want. They have to deliver Smackdown to CW, that is all unless the contract is re-done. Given the restraints put on Smackdown, I highly doubt that CW would accept ECW.

If ECW gets ratings on Sci-Fi, it will get renewed. If it gets no ratings, it does not deserve to be on anywhere. The truth is that Smackdown has been pre-empted in many markets, leading to the low weekly rating. This is not the usual WWE excuse, it is a fact. There is a lil war going on between UPN stations not going to CW and UPN, so they are pre-empting/moving all the top UPN shows to hurt the network. This seems kind of self-defeating, but it is what is happening.

Overall, I liked the show last night, but man. When looking at that ECW locker room, there really weren't many faces I want to see every week. There was RVD, Angle, Dreamer, and Big Show and a bunch of jobbers. These are people that couldn't get a job at TNA either. I guess I will get the true greatness of the Heyman booking.

ECW.com has some good interviews/promos up right now with The Big Show explaining why he jumped and Terry Funk saying what he wants to do with Mick Foley.

If ECW can give me good angles with good promos like these two on a regular basis - that will be a good thing.

Kind of off topic, but what has been going on with Chavo? The last thing I saw him do was quit RAW and then he had that interview with JR...then I heard rumors of an angle where he forgets Eddie died or that he becomes him? WHat happend?

He appeared on a few Smackdown episodes supporting Rey.

Shawn Michaels will be looking at taking extended time off following his involvement in the D-X angle. He is expected to be back in time to compete alongside Triple H at Vengeance, and then work a limited schedule through till Summerslam. After that, his knee problems are likely to keep him out of action for what could be several months.

That will never happen. HHH will NEVER go to the B (C o D- seems more close) show, same with Michaels.

It wouldn't be just a B or C show when his wife writes him to be the most dominate wrestler in SD history. He would get his title run (since HHH had the world title when he lost it and that belt jumped to SD) and crush the hopes and dreams of Undertaker and Vito.

oops...forgot HHH jobbed the title to Vince on SD :lol

As long as he can stay healthy.

YES. God he needs to be off of Smackdown so badly. Trade him for Charlie Haas.

-- As was fairly obvious to those watching closely, some of the punches in the Lawler-Tazz exchange were a bit stiff. There were no hard feelings between the two; they simply wanted to make the brawl look as realistic as possible for the camera.

-- Vince McMahon was on the headsets encouraging the verbal sparring between the two announce teams last night.

-- McMahon was a huge fan of last night's special.

Wow, Vince does something right for a change.

I'm predicting Cena vs Orton-Mainevent for Wrestlemania 23 right now. Probably Booker vs Batista or Taker vs. Batista on SD.

As long as that show is TAPED, it's the B show. The one where NO ONE wants to go to.

so was it the B Show when it was kicking Raw's ass during the 2002-2003 era?

One of the best parts of the show last night was that the crowd was really into the matches. Usually, they are quiet and just pop for the signature moves and the finish. I hope Vince realized this and actually starts to put more actual wrestling into matches.

Some TNA news for you
TORCH #917: TNA NEWSWIRE
TAYLOR OFFICIALLY PROMOTED

TNA wrestling officially announced that Terry Taylor has been named Director of Talent Relations. PWTorch had reported the promotion weeks ago, but it didn't become official until this week when he signed a new contract.

"We are excited to have Terry in this important job," says Dixie Carter, president of TNA. "We pride ourselves on our roster and want the very best for them. Terry is the perfect fit for relating to and aiding our talent."

Taylor has been living in Atlanta for the past 14 years. He previously worked for WCW and WWE/WWF, and was a wrestler for 17 years before officially retiring earlier this year. He had neck surgery two months ago which forced him to retire from even infrequent in-ring appearances. Taylor has worked behind the scenes as an agent for both WCW and WWE over the past ten years.

"I believe in TNA," Taylor says. "This company is doing big things and I am excited to be part of the team and contributing to the growth, as well as the future of the business as a whole."

Taylor will remain on the front line of the TNA office handling scheduling conflicts and personnel issues. He will also be involved in contract negotiations and overseeing the TNA roster. It is essentially the same role that John Laurenaitis holds with WWE. At TV and PPV events in Orlando, Taylor is also responsible for managing TV production in the truck. He will be working out of the Nashville office.

TNA NOTEBOOK

TNA Impact will air in the U.K. on the Player channel, a digital television channel, which expands TNA's exposure by a couple million potential viewers. TNA already airs on The Wrestling Channel in the U.K. on digital satellite... One TNA insider says that everything Jeff Jarrett does is with one eye on his dream of being the lead babyface in TNA some day, and being accepted and admired by fans in that role... When TNA wrestlers do radio or Internet interviews now, recordings are sent to Jeff Jarrett so he can monitor what's said about the company (and him)... There's a real loss of confidence in Christian in the TNA locker room after what has been deemed a really disappointing series of interviews lately... TNA has scheduled house shows for July 21 in Williamston, N.C. at the Sen. Bob Martin Eastern Agricultural Center and July 22 in Jacksonville, N.C. at the Commons Rec Center. Advertised names are: Samoa Joe, The America's Most Wanted, A.J. Styles, Christopher Daniels, Abyss, The James Gang, and Rhino...

Monty Brown has seen his push reduced after being pegged a future star by TNA management just a few months ago. One reason is that he put his personal training business ahead of working indy dates and TNA house shows. Brown makes a really good living as a personal trainer, but TNA management believes that he should be willing to sacrifice that to improve himself since he has a long way to go before he's well-rounded enough to be a reliable and consistent top act for TNA. Monty's rep in TNA is similar to Cena in WWE a while back where he was seen as having great potential, but the knock was he was more concerned with being a star than becoming a good worker. Also, management has lost confidence in his mic work because there is concern his promos are too cartoonish and he can't talk more than a minute or two before running out of catch phrases. The fact that Ron Killings is in the King of the Mountain match and Brown isn't may indicate a changing of management's priorities. There are a number of people in power in TNA who believe Killings is worth investing in...

LAX will be given a push in the ring as a tag team after the next PPV. Homicide got off to a slow start because when he signed with TNA he was recovering from a shoulder injury, but also TNA's top brass saw him as too short and not muscular enough to be worth pushing; needless to say, they hadn't seen his ROH work. If Homicide hasn't already, it's expected he'll sign a long-term deal with TNA soon... Jeff Jarrett has deferred any questions anyone has regarding the Kevin Nash-X Division storyline to Nash, making it clear to anyone that Nash has creative control in his contract and has been given free reign to book his own storyline. Nash has not caused any problems backstage, which one wrestler says is because there aren't any other power-hungry veterans trying to take his spot. "He's be up to his old sh-- if he had his Clique buddies around and if he were fighting with other top guys for a top spot," says one wrestler. Sting is too laid back for Nash to see him as a threat of any kind... Nash and Scott Steiner have been late to the TV tapings, even though Dixie Carter had stressed that they were going to get serious about enforcing on-time arrivals for talent... Mike Tenay is not an open advocate of his face being on TV as much as it is; that is Jeff Jarrett's idea because he thinks Tenay is a good "face of the fans" to represent their viewpoint... Mike Bentley and Lance Hoyt fell out of favor with management due to what they perceived as attitude and ego issues...

The Naturals are scripted for a gimmick overhaul with haircuts and a heel turn... It didn't take long again for Senshi (Low Ki) to remind people of why he has a rep, as one wrestler put it this week, of being "one of the biggest marks in the world." He is considered nearly impossible to deal with behind the scenes... Jarrett is a huge fan of Gail Kim. A number of people in power in TNA are really impressed with Christy Hemme. "She's not a rocket scientist on wrestling, but she's got energy and charisma and can deliver her lines," says one TNA source... Expect Jim Cornette to get involved in the LAX immigration storyline as one of the first controversies he addresses as "the new face of TNA management," as they're calling him. Cornette and Konnan going at it could fill a lot of TV time... Herme Sadler, who is promoting TNA house shows, got into a verbal spat with B.G. James when Sadler wanted B.G. & Kip James to job to an impromptu tag team of Petey Williams & Monty Brown. Sadler was already upset with B.G. over no-showing a scheduled autograph session. Sadler put Rhino in B.G.'s slot on the card. The argument ended up getting back to Jeff Jarrett who had to try to quell the controversy and keep both sides happy...

Taylor had been the unofficial VP of Talent Relations in TNA for the past year before he was formally assigned to the director position last week. With former CEO Kevin Day's office position yet to be filled, Taylor will work out of TNA's main office in Nashville to oversee day-to-day operations... The "go-home" edition of Impact on June 15 leading to the June 18 Slammiversary PPV will be pushed back to midnight EST to feature an extra hour of UFC's Ultimate Fighter show in Impact's usual timeslot... TNA President Dixie Carter gave birth to her second child over the June 2 weekend. Dixie missed the previous TV and PPV tapings in Orlando while on maternity leave... Samoa Joe has been undergoing physical therapy in California to recover from a serious leg injury. He is still expected to wrestle at the June 18 Slammiversary PPV against Scott Steiner... TNA will be filming matches for TV and its online Global Impact show at the June 9 house show at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia and on June 10 at the TNA/LSW house show in Wayne, N.J... Christy Hemme, Traci Brooks, Jackie Gayda, and So Cal Val were part of an extensive photo/video shoot for a cover story in an upcoming edition of "Sole Collector" magazine and the upcoming "TNA Knockouts" DVD. Sole Collector magazine covers trends in the shoe industry...

TNA Impact drew a solid 1.1 rating on June 1, with a 1.2 among the male 18-49 demo and 1.8 among the male 18-34 demo with an average audience of 1.2 million viewers. Among 18-49 males and 18-34 males, it was no. 2 for the night behind TNT's NBA playoff game. The previous week's reported 1.2 rating was a mistake; it also drew a 1.1 rating (Spike TV made a mistake when averaging the quarter hours, resulting a 1.16 average instead of a 1.06 to be precise)...

The shame is that last night's show wasn't advertised very well, which probably means that it won't be rated very well, discouraging another one of these specials.

Vince was happy with it though. Guess he saw what happens when he let his wrestlers wrestle for once.

No thanks. If I jump into your reality, I wouldn't enjoy anything and bitch about everything.

The one thing I don't like about ECW being taped after smackdown is it takes a lot of the atmosphere away, being in a big arena.

On the other hand, Vince wants to make ECW really big, so I guess it wouldn't make sense to do only small arenas, and there was still definitely crowd involvment last night, even though it wasn't in a super small arena.

I guess Paul will have to find a way to get 20,000 people chanting and cheering like the 2500-5000 people in the old ECW arenas would. :D

um in 2002-3 Smackdown WAS the A show or at least equal to RAW, hell Vinnie Mac started a program with Hogan on Smackdown due to the popularity of the brand

According to D Meltz, with all the pre-emptions and such going on with UPN, they are going to let Smackdown twist in the wind for a little bit until the CW launch. CW will put Smackdown in alot more homes and with all the pre emptions it doesn't make alot of sense putting money into the show. Now with that said, I have enjoyed the past few weeks of shows I have seen.

I guess some star power will be added back to Smackdown at the CW launch or something. Who knows, seems like plans change everyday. But that was the plan originally.

You must have difficulty reading in this thread then. Last night's show was great, so you can dump this whole pre-concieved notion that I "hate" everything. That's not the case and you damn well know it. I praised the last SD PPV as well and Raw has been pretty consistant outside of that garbage known as Cena.

Last night's show has done something that WWE hasn't done in a while...it delivered. Top to bottom.

And once again, no matter you spin hings Smackdown has always been Vince's B show or his Thunder...if you will. The Raw show has ALWAYS been viewed as the flagship for that company and will be until the day he dies.

Ever since this CW merge has come down hes lost interest in it since he has a "new toy" in ECW. At this point he seems content to let it flounder and wither.

I'm right there with you. I can't stand the guy and wish he'd just get off my TV. He's a mushmouthed idiot and just can't understand how this guy ever got a fanbase.

They didn't just randomly pick Dayton for this show. ECW held two PPVs there with wildly rabid crowds.

Sabu, Sandman, and Justin Credible should all have major roles. They are all former ECW World Champions, but will guys who would never be given a chance on Raw or Smackdown be given the chance to shine in the new ECW? I'm kind of worried about that.

I hope Credible is given a chance (you know Sabu and Sandman's spots are secure). I thought he was worthy of carrying the ECW title as long as he did and really liked him as part of the Impact Players. His character was *such* a dick. His run in the WWE afterwards wasn't at all indicative of what he's capable of. Plus, he's one of the younger ECW guys still around at 32.
please please please bring back Jason Knight as his manager

Here's hoping they sign Masato Tanaka as well. Another former ECW champion, and like Sabu and Angle, will go as long as his body lets him.

With the show being one hour per week, I don't think we'll be stuck seeing the same guys wrestle every week just because they don't have enough names. Realistically, two or three matches can fill up that hour easily. If it was 2 hours like Raw or Smackdown, then I'd be very concerned about overexposure.

Yeah, doesn't Tanaka want to come back?

And I second that Justin Credible could very well be awesome like he once was. I loved him back in the day. I can't believe he was working at a Target in between :lol

What would put ECW over the top right now would be an in-shape, not with TNA Raven.

That, or Jericho.

I don't think it will be that difficult. There was a loud audible "BALLS" chant with every punch Balls Mahoney did last night. I forgot all about that chant really.

i'm watching Smackdown now.

Yeah it was announced yesterday, along with Balls Mahoney vs Tanaka.

EXCELLENT match between Kendrick and Super Crazy.

Not the first time I'm seeing it, but that C4 from the 3rd rope looks cool as hell.

I know SD is taped but it's like none of the angles from last night never happened EXCEPT.....
Rey going to ECW

god ECW sucks so bad. Why is Vince even bothering. I like my wrestlers to be larger than life, not look like a bunch of carnies. Shawn needs to come back so he can obliterate that entire federation off the face of the earth. And he'll do it, too. Just you watch.

After no showing Raw on Monday night, Axl Rotten is most likely already done with the company.

As noted earlier on ECWWrestlingNews.com, Vince McMahon loved last night's special. He was backstage feeding lines to the announcers via headset and really enjoyed the job they did including Joey Styles who he was always critical of on Raw. Vince also really like the in ring action. He made the call to let the wrestlers work a more edgier style then you usually see on Raw or Smackdown and in the end he really enjoyed what he saw.

What an idiot Axl Rotten is, had a great thing and ruined it. Hope he has fun wrestling for $200 bucks a night for the rest of his career.

I'm glad Vince liked what he saw. Hopefully that means that newECW won't be QUITE as watered down as many of us thought.
