ECW and X3 : The Official Game Presents
ECW One Night Stand

WWE Champion John Cena vs. Rob Van Dam
20060522_ecw_wwechampionship.jpg

Dot Com Rundown: Rob Van Dam is cashing in his Money in the Bank championship opportunity at a place where he feels most comfortable - ECW One Night Stand. John Cena has had his back against the wall many times before, yet he's still managed to walk away with his WWE Championship. Come June 11, however, RVD will have the ultimate home-field advantage when he challenges Cena for the WWE Championship. Will Cena once again find a way to defy the odds and remain WWE Champion? Or will Van Dam cash in on his opportunity? Find out at ECW One Night Stand.

Terry Funk & Tommy Dreamer vs. Mick Foley & Edge
20060522_ecw_dreamerfunk_ed1.jpg

Dot Com Rundown: After months of battling each other both physically and verbally, Mick Foley and Edge have somehow developed a unique relationship. Recently on RAW, Foley extolled the virtues of Edge’s hardcore credentials, claiming Edge embodied all that is hardcore, as opposed to the slime from ECW. Foley then awarded the Rated-R Superstar the “un-retired” Hardcore Championship. Edge wouldn’t accept it, however, instead wanting Foley to have it. They looked as if they were going to fight, but the Rated-R Superstar instead had Lilian Garcia announce them as co-holders of the Hardcore Championship.

Finally, Paul Heyman emerged from the back to break up the love fest, telling Foley that he couldn’t believe the Hardcore Legend prostituted his legacy for a mutual admiration society with Edge & Lita. He then threw out a challenge for the “co-Hardcore Champions” to face any two of what Foley called “the slime that escaped from ECW” at One Night Stand. They initially refused, but after Heyman said that Lita had more balls than them, Edge accepted. The trio then came after Paul, who introduced them to their pay-per-view opponents: Tommy Dreamer & Terry Funk! ECW's hardcore duo attacked Edge & Foley with various weapons, sending the icons scurrying out of the arena.

There will be no running away at One Night Stand. What will happen when four of the most hardcore Superstars in sports-entertainment history collide at this extreme event? Watch the pay-per-view on June 11 to find out.

World Champion Rey Mysterio vs. Sabu
World Heavyweight Championship Match

20060605_ecw_Mysterio_Sabu.jpg

Dot Com Rundown: At One Night Stand, fans will finally get to see a match they have been dreaming about for years. As announced by ECW’s Paul Heyman, the suicidal, homicidal, genocidal, death-defying Sabu will go one on one with SmackDown Superstar Rey Mysterio, and it will be for the World Championship.

For ECW legend Sabu, the match will be his first and maybe last opportunity to win WWE gold. Sabu has kept a low profile in recent years, and the lack of exposure may prove to be his greatest advantage. Instead of relying on recent video footage, Mysterio will be forced to rely on memory in preparing his game plan.

For Rey Mysterio, One Night Stand could provide a very unique situation. Rey has always been a fan favorite, so when he enters the ring at Hammerstein Ballroom, the potentially hostile crowd could prove to be a major distraction for the World Champion.

Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton
Angle Invitational

20060605_ecw_Angle_Orton.jpg

Dot Com Rundown: Last week on SmackDown, ECW's Paul Heyman announced that Kurt Angle was issuing an open-challenge for the One Night Stand pay-per-view. According to Heyman, Angle was willing to meet anyone from any brand in a one-on-one match. “Angle means anyone, from anywhere. He doesn’t care if the person’s from a four-sided ring, a six-sided ring or an eight-sided ring.”

Monday night on RAW, that challenge was answered in the form of WWE Superstar Randy Orton. The returning former World Heavyweight Champion snuck up on Angle and delivered a devestating RKO which left Angle face down in the center of the ring.

The Legend Killer had spent the last several months sitting at home, healing a fractured ankle which he suffered at the hands of the Wrestling Machine during the King of the Ring Tournament. Moments after the attack, Orton spoke with WWE.com Unlimited's Todd Grisham to formally accept the challenge. "You think I forgot that Kurt Angle broke my ankle? It took me 60 days to come back and get my payback. If you think this is it, stay tuned, because Kurt Angle, I accept your challenge for One Night Stand."

The Wrestling Machine, who is ECW's newest Superstar has promised to be the face of the new ECW. At One Night Stand, Angle will have his first chance to back up those words when he faces the brash and cocky Orton.

Tazz vs. Jerry Lawler
20060605_ecw_Lawler_Tazz.jpg

Dot Com Rundown: Last week on SmackDown, Tazz addressed weeks of ridicule and taunting from Jerry Lawler regarding both himself, and the ECW brand, and did so in an emotional fashion. Showing the passion and intensity which made him one of the most feared and intimidating World Champions in ECW history, Tazz issued a challenge to Lawler for One Night Stand.

Addressing The King as 'old man', Tazz made a guarentee. "You wanna go on RAW, and you wanna talk junk about ECW and about me not being tough no more...but here's the deal my friend. If you show up at One Night Stand, with god as my witness, I guarantee I will choke you out."

This week on RAW, Lawler responded to Tazz' challenge. "Tazz, for the last 10 years, we've heard you talk about how bad you are. The truth is, the only thing bad about you is your announcing. You say you have one match left in you...Well Tazz, I accept your challenge, and I promise you that One Night Stand will be your last stand."

At One Night Stand, all the talking will stop and the fighting will begin. Both men have had extensive accomplished in-ring careers, but on Sunday night, only one man will can come out victorious.

Super Crazy & Tajiri vs. The F.B.I.(Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke)
ECW veterans will collide when Super Crazy & Tajiri take on The F.B.I.’s Little Guido & Tony Mamaluke in a special tag team attraction. At last year’s One Night Stand, Super Crazy, Tajiri and Little Guido met in a Three Way Dance that delivered some of the evening’s most memorable moments. Prior to that, Super Crazy, Tajiri and Little Guido had an extensive history in ECW, competing on numerous occasions on some of ECW’s biggest shows.

This year’s One Night Stand also marks the return of Tajiri, who will be making his first major appearance in a U.S. ring since departing for his native Japan several months ago.

Ballz Mahoney vs Masato Tanaka
Last Year Masato Tanaka had a show stealing performance with Mike Aewsome, where you saw tables, ladders, chair and high spots to make any ECW fan chant ec dub ec dub. This year he takes on Ballz Mahoney one of the toughest ECW Faithful in the whole ECW History. They say about ECW we dont even need a storyline and this is proof of this year. This match should be a hell of a brawl and any match that tanaka is invovled in in bound to spill out all over the place should be a decent matchup.

So there you have it ECW ONS takes place tommrow Live on PM 8 pm eastern and 7 pm Cental.

I don't think its smart for some of the former WWE, current TNA guys to burn their bridges like that. Many people burned their bridges during the whole WCW vs. WWE thing, and it ended up costing them a potential gig once WCW went under. I'm sure Luger wishes he didn't pull that stunt where he appeared on Nitro the night after he worked a WWE PPV.

Well WWE hasn't exactly been "nice" about how they treat their talent either....

Besides, you can't "burn a bridge" in wrestling. If you can draw money, then you have a job. Look at Hogan. He TESTIFIED AGAINST MCMAHON...and yet came back numerous times.

At this point WWE is doing one thing. Signing guys to play "keep away" with TNA. Charlie Haas is a great example of that.

There's plenty. I have most of them.
Hard Knocks: The Chris Benoit story (2 disc)is FANTASTIC with some killer matches.
Bret Hart collection (3 disc) is SUPERB
Tombstone Best of Undertaker(3 disc...STACKED...ergh) is ok. I'm not a huge fan though.
Rey Mysterio 619 (2 disc) is quite good..but now needs updated.
Mick Foley's greatest hits & misses (2 disc) one of my faves.
Road Warriors (2 disc)
Hulk Still Rules (2 disc) pretty good, but barely covers his WCW run.
From the Vault: HBK. EVERY wrestling fan needs this in their collection.
Dusty Rhodes (3 disc) just came out
(not a wrestler, but a must own) Bloodsport: ECW's most violent matches.

There's PLENTY of wrestler specific sets out. If there's one thing WWE does EXCEPTIONALLY ...it's DVDs.

Which of those dvds have a documentary style presentation, where people are interviewed concerning the wrestler in question's career and their involvement with them. Along the lines of Benoits and harts and also the ultimate warriors? I find that more interesting than just match after match after match (undertakers).

Dusty
Mick Foley
Chris Benoit
Bret Hart
Road Warriors
Rey Mysterio
Mick Foley talks about the matches in studio and WHy he picked them. No life story though.
Hulk Still Rules.

These all have great bios on the workers.

I agree Takers seems VERY rushed and it's all in kayfabe. When you do a tribute DVD, you can drop the Kayfabe...

Monday Night Wars dvd seems to just be stuff taken from Confidential, but it's interesting anyway. I've watched it a few times while cleaning and such, it's not bad.

The Undertaker 3 disc is probably the worst one I've bought, because it does very little to explain his character's story. For example, it talks about his WMXII match with Diesel, then it jumps to Summerslam and you don't even get any info on why his manager of six years decides to turn on him. I realize they put a lot of matches on there, but it seems poorly pieced together. It also has the 3 dvds stacked on top of one another, which seems like a bad thing to do.

I think the Flair and Bret ones are pretty well done, and the Benoit one is good also. The one I've watched the most is the Warrior one, because it's Warrior... but I've got the limited 2-disc version, and even that doesn't have enough non-documentary content on it. WWE dvds seem to be kind of hit or miss in terms of that, though.

Hey, do you guys know if the Monday Night War DVD is any good? We just got it in at GameStop and I was thinking about buying it.

it's alright, if not (durrr) extremely biased towards the wwf side

I did not think I would but right now I am very hyped for the ECW tonight. Even if there is not a real riot tonight when Cena wins I wonder if Paul would opt to stage a riot like ROH did about a year and half ago. I remember when I saw that at ROH and I was total convinced it was real. I was laughing all through that match at the wrestlers pissing of the guys thinking they were getting legitimately pissed at what they were doing to them.

I'm not hyped to watch any of the matches themselves, but I'm sure we're all intrigued by the possible outcomes of all of the matches. For the first time on a WWE PPV in nearly ****ing forever, most of the matches are very important in terms of the storylines, and the outcomes are all pretty unpredictable.

Jesus, I'm going to have to start doing this in Fire Pro.

Small ONS spoilers....

Eugene, Trinity, Bill Alfonso and Big Guido are backstage.

My thoughts

I would be very happy if Eugene debut by droping his old gimmick and doing some nice shoot style promo against WWE's Sports Entertanment and how he was forced to do the old gimmick do get a job in wrestling...

That would be sweet.

BTW who is
Big Guido
?

Argh I think I might order One Night Stand after that show on wednesday...I have high hopes and hope to not be dissapointed. Who's ordering?

There's a 30 minute hard sell web video on ecw.com right now for the PPV. Usual super-hype bullshit from WWE, but the last ten minutes are the Cena vs Sabu match from the WWE/ECW special last week uncut (except no entrances).

Just letting everyone know in case you missed it.

Doesn't matter how great this show is, I'll be disappointed if CM Punk doesn't debut.

Same here....

It's weird to think he was mentioned way back in last years ONS thread that I linked to and he still has not debut yet.

I predict he will come out and do a promo mid-show. There is no better place to debut him than tonight show as he would not get the same reaction with a predominately WWE audience on Tuesday night

BradVanDam said:
Punk needs to interfere with orton angle match

I don’t want to sound disrespectful to you or anything but he really does NOT need to interfere in that match. There are far better way to start of fudes than someone doing a run in.

If Punk does run in and interfere then it’s a sign that Paul is not fully in charge of this thing. The run-in is used far to much in WWE, we need some new shit now!

He wouldn't get a reaction out of the ECW audience either.

I mean, as talented as he is, and as well-known among more hardcore fans as he is, I highly, highly doubt CM Punk just showing up and doing anything will mean much. He'd get a Charlie Haas pop. It'd be cool if I was wrong and he had a lot of momentum going in with him, but I doubt it.

Maybe if he absolutely destroys Cena or something, but whatever. He'll need to re-build his character before people really care about him.

Many of the "ECW Fans" are also huge ROH fans. I'll bet he'd get a pretty good reaction.
