King Candy
does have truths in what he said
. If you think about it,
he didn't actually lie
.

I really enjoyed it. Parts were laugh-out-loud hilarious, lots of visual puns. The detractors mainly seem to be bitching that it only took place in three games but that's kind of missing the point. The first half hour is a circlejerk lovefest to videogames (which is executed wonderfully) and then you get to the heart of the movie which is the better part IMO.

One of my favorite Disney movies.

Just saw it. Really enjoyable and some great nods to gamers of old.

I loved that it was pretty much Who Framed Roger Rabbit with videogames - down to what I'm sure is the voice of Roger playing King Candy.

Holy FUCK this little kid in my showing brought the house down at the end of the movie.

RALPH: Because when the Nicelanders lift me up, I get a perfect view of "Sugar Rush", and I can see Vanellope racing. The kid's a natural. And the players love her, glitch and all, just like I knew they would. Turns out I don't need a medal to tell me I'm a good guy. Because if that little kid likes me... How bad can I be...?

*CUT TO BLACK* SILENCE.

Little kid: Very.

I just want to say that for a movie that is the ultimate gaming nerdgasm .... the licensed game is one of the BIGGEST PIECE OF SHIT I ever played ><

I expected something bad ... but WOW

And the first cutscene is a HUGE movie spoiler =P

I don't think there has been a single good movie tie-in game since Golden Eye, so no surprise there. I doubt anyone would want to play a real videogame version of Hero's Duty, but Sugar Rush has some real potential with the right developers behind it

Hahaha! I love it when there's just the right amount of audience participation in a movie.

I had a good laugh at this. It's like a knock off movie from Netflix.

Good to hear there's a sequel in the works. I hope characters from other games play a bigger role than just small cameos in the next one. When I saw WIR, I missed the first 15 minutes (most of the cameos). I was a saaaad saaad boy.

In the movie, you all remember, was this moment where Vanellope couldn´t get out of the game. But in the same moment, they showed Fix It Felix is putting his hammer out. Was anyone else thinking, he is going to fix Vannelope to save her?

Not really, I thought the problem was "deeper" (i.e. code-related)

just watched it a second time, still in love with this movie. I really hope that, for the sequel, they run with the game-jumping idea they did in the credits, bonus points if they include a 2D pixel scene (as a side note, I really want a Ralph Mario-style 4-player platformer now)

regarding the cameos, I'm sure this has been asked a hundred times already, but who was the blue woman in the villains meeting and those kids with the halos over their heads when Ralph leaves the Pac-Man world?

Saw this in theaters tonight.

In the end credits Sonic is rolling through Chemical Plant from Sonic 2, but the boss at the end is from the first level of Sonic 3.

This bugs me.

Good movie though.

I am planning to watch this movie over the weekend. How is the 3D? Should I save money and just watch it in 2D?

On my first viewing, I didn't really think it added much. But when I saw it a second time and I actively looked for the 3D I realized it was well done. If you're in the mood for 3D, see it in 3D. If you're not in the mood to wear the glasses and spend extra, then see it in 2D. It's still a good looking film for 2D.

Many things are designed with 3D in mind and it adds some depth but one the other hand the movie is pretty hectic. Might cause some serious headache.

Excellent short, excellent movie. Even expected it to be good, I was surprised by just how good it was. Probably the best CG animation film in the last few years (at least since Wall-E), despite the formula heavy nature of it (but how masterful an execution of said formula).

Thoroughly beating out Pixar's Brave... yeah, Disney proper surprises and impresses with this movie.

I guess because I enjoy magical but logical - i.e. suspension of disbelief is not suspension of logic. But yeah it's just me :P

It's the same reason why I think Tangled is good until the ending.
Yeah that magic healing tears, fuck yeah!

I actually quite enjoyed the logic behind the magic paper plane sequence.

A subtle lilting, then progressively been carried on the wind... flitting upwards, other planes joining, a whirlwind appears, brings all the planes around... progressively increasing the capabilities of the paper planes to no less than something magical.

Watched this yesterday and LOVED IT!.

To me the best part of the movie were all the tiny details, specially those in Sugar Rush's world. I lost it at the
singing Oreo's
part :') I laughed so fucking hard!!!

There were a few other moments but that's the one I remember the most. Also the Cops were SO GOOD!!!!

I need to watch it again!!!

I liked the movie. The only problem is Sarah Silverman annoys the crap out of me so I wish someone else had played venelope.

Disney Sets Two Dates For WRECK-IT RALPH'S Home Release

Disney appears to be going a different route when it will release their hit animated film Wreck-It Ralph for home release. The media giant, looking to maximize profits, has decided to split up when you can get the film digitally as well as when you can buy it on blu-ray and DVD. You can score the film in HD download on February 12 and/or buy the film on blu-ray or DVD on March 5th.

I saw it the other day and loved it. Hell, I even liked it more than some of Pixar's movies (coughcoughCarscoughcough).

It was TURBO-TASTIC.

Went to take my nephew to it on New Year's Day, and it was sold out : /. Never seen that happen so late after release, it was bewildering.

Fortunately it was also showing next town over, so we managed to catch it there. That showing wasn't sold out, but still surprisingly full.

There was a surprising lack of kids movies available in theaters this Holiday season. WIR and Monsters Inc 3D... and Rise of the Guardians if you count that.

Sweet. I'm definitely getting the Blu-ray on March 5th.

-Disney Intermission: The Gamer’s Guide to “Wreck-It-Ralph” – When the film is paused, host Chris Hardwick appears on screen to guide viewers through a series of 10 video segments offering an inside look at the many video game references, Disney references and other hidden surprises featured in the film.

Chris Hardwick? Was he in the movie? Seems like an odd choice.

I thought the movie was great, entertained throughout! I'm 27 and didn't get all the 80's character references, but it was still a heartwarming and funny story with excellent chemistry between the characters. Its a movie marketed for kids but I'm sure a lot of the nostalgia references went over their head, I even over heard one kid say "What's a glitch?".

On a sidenote I had a huge gin on my face during the "rainbow Road" segment lol

Also I agree with everyone that Paperman was great, even the
magical planes
, I didnt' think too much of it and it didn't feel out of place mainly to showcase the visuals animation.
Thank god for 3D glasses hiding my Paperman tears. That's all I gotta say.
What the hell, I didn't know this movie was in 3D!? I just saw it today in 2D, didn't even see a 3D option at the movie Kiosk. Dammit, oh well...

eDIt: Did I miss anything by not seeing it in 3D? Segments that stand out with an extra dimension thrown in?

There were some scenes where we look at the arcade units from the outside and the glass cover had a nice effect.

Anyways, just saw it myself and thought it was ok. Like most said, good beginning and ending sections, but bad and poorly paced middle section. One thing that freaked me out though...

Turbo's final bug form. It looked like something out of silent hill and moved in a revolting fashion.

So aside from the arcade cabinets, the 3D wasn't really essential for the movie? Okay, well now I don't really feel as bad now, though I still wonder how the visually appealing worlds would look in 3D.

LOVED Paperman when I saw .... but the more I think about it ... more it looks like the dude was totaly stalker

I didn't think so.
After she got on the train he gave up hope of seeing her again... until he saw her in the window. But after none of his planes reached her, he gave up hope again... until the magical planes brought them together.
I could understand stalker comment if he got her address off the paper then google-map'd her lol :p

Just came back from seeing it. I absolutely loved every minute of it, it was an ode, a celebration of videogames. I admit I can't be objective about this movie (videogames have been a large part of my life for three decades, after all), but damn if you couldn't feel the 80's arcade's love throughout the film. It's not even about the cameos, either; every single detail like pixelly patterns appearing in the most mundane of places, the sprite-like animations of Fix-It Felix NPCs, the glitches, and that omnipresent glorious dot pitch, that made me leave the cinema almost with a sore face from smiling so much.

I also thought it worked quite well dramatically, and some scenes like
Ralph tearing Vanellope's car
were truly a gut-punch. It's been discussed that the movie didn't go forth with
the moral dilemma put forth by the Candy King, but where could it have gone? If what he said is true then the only solution is either to find a way to restore Vanellope to non-glitchiness, or simply not letting her race. The former would simple replace one quest with another. Letting her race as it is something no main character will go through with; it's a non-option. Not letting it race is simply boring and would grind the narrative to a screeching halt. Much as I too would have liked to see some resolution to that other than "it was all a lie", there is no possible solution to it.

I don't really see it this way.
Aside from the Fix-It Felix Jr. and Sgt. Calhoun scene where they fall into the Nesquik-sand (uhg) I honestly don't know which scene you'd want to cut or replace. I suppose the Hero's Duty part could've been done better, but in many ways it's necessary for the plot. Then Ralph enters Sugar Rush, the introduction scene of Vanellope is excellent (although one could argue the double-striped candy cane branches don't fit into a racing game), next the castle scene which I guess isn't really all that important so yeah that could go, Ralph escapes and follows the other racers and we get to the slightly heart-wrenching scene where they destroy her self-made kart. Then comes the kart bakery scene, volcano scene, broken kart scene and Ralph's brief return to Fix-It Felix Jr., all of which are amazing (imo, of course). Meanwhile Felix gives us a short exposition of Turbo's story, which again is kinda required for the plot. Ralph frees Felix and Vanellope from the fungeon, and off they go to the grand finale.
I don't know what could or should have been changed in the middle section without taking the movie into a whole new direction, there really isn't much fat to trim here.

for a movie that has a great beginning and ending and a slightly disappointing middle section, I think ParaNorman is a much better example
