Sprint may kill their unlimited plans, but correct if my wrong that the other carriers to do this both allowed grandfathering. Is this correct?

Sprint is usually good with grandfathering plans (people still have there old ass sero plans till this day). I can see the same happening with the 450 everything unlimited if they ever switched over.

They started charging $10 more for "true" unlimited when the EVO came out. I'm assuming the iphone would require this plan too. Hopefully, Sprint will keep unlimited plans since they like to tout it in their ads.

almost all new smartphones on Sprint require the premium data add-on, so no doubt a potential iPhone would too.

One step closer to prepaid? Cheap iphone on Virgin next please.
iPhone 4 on Virgin Mobile! OMG!

I think he's referring to SERO-P (Premium) which is a plan that costs $10 or $20 (4G) per month more than the original SERO plan ($30/month)

Still a bargain though for a single user.
yes, yes it is.

$50/mo! that's pre-paid level prices!

I'd like to switch from AT&T, but I don't even know what the status of my contract is. I got my phone back in May of 2009. I was/am holding out for the iPhone 5 but I didn't think we wouldn't be seeing it released until late September/October. I suppose I should call AT&T and see whats up.

I still love the EVO more , the only advantage the iphone has to me are the games which I still don't care about since I hate touch screen gaming. The 3DS and PSP still fill my mobile gaming void.

Fuck I hope this isn't true. Although I haven't had any problems Sprint's network is already comparatively small and less capable than their competitors. I don't want to have my smooth and speedy unlimited data usage ruined by a bunch of iPhone people jumping ship from AT&T.

Or people already on Spring jumping on an iPhone?

Thinking of getting an iPhone 5 and jumping ship from AT&T to Sprint if I'm able to.

Cheaper prices, better service, unlimited data... it's a no-brainer. Though I'm worried about how they will be able to handle the load of iPhone users.

This could be a pivotal moment for Sprint. They've struggled to remain relevant for quite some time in spite of the fact that they've got a much fairer plan structure and they're doing incredibly well in customer service. Their stable of phones has been steadily improving but this could put them over the top.

This is good for all of us, especially with the way that AT&T is moving.

THAT is the critical question. If it does, it and a truly unlimited data plan will have people flocking to this.

I doubt it will. Seriously doubt it. So they would all be on 3G. Its a good move, I dont worry about network congestion, because sprint wont be around much longer if they cant find a way to make a profit lol. So, this is good. But yeah, by summer next year they will go tiered.

So which is the best iPhone carrier now?

There is no best US carrier, only one where you can get the cheapest plan for a smartphone with data/messaging concessions, or the fastest carrier speedwise with the highest cost and caps/tiers or Sprint with unlimited any and everything, but speed isnt great everywhere (has the slowest 4G). No carrier offers excellent speed, unlimited, with good discounts and a great price. You end up having to choose from like 1 or 2 traits and going with the carrier that excels at those.

Though this could likely be Best Buy reading the same rumors as the rest of us, the company is anticipating that the iPhone 5 will be available for pre-order during the first week of October. BGR points to an internal memo:

"Thanks to a leaked document from a Best Buy source, we have discovered that Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores are anticipating taking preorders for the iPhone 5 starting in the first week of October. What’s a tad bit more interesting, however, is the mention (and further anticipation) that Sprint will be carrying the iPhone 5 at launch."

Best Buy warns, of course, that dates may change. A report that Sprint will also be carrying the iPhone 5 was recently revealed by the Wall Street Journal.

Meanwhile, ThisIsMyNext reports that Best Buy is also expecting a new "Apple Fixture Installation" on Friday, October 21st.

"To be clear, this isn’t a run-of-the-mill installation for the big box — our tipster tells us that the request that a manager be on-hand at 6AM is out of the ordinary (they usually show up at 7AM for inventory), and that a similar arrangement was scheduled for the iPhone 4 launch."

The new fixture could represent signs and displays for the iPhone 5 which has been rumored to launch at some point in October.

Wow, this is awesome. Sprint is finally getting some good phones. It will be a hard choice between the Iphone 5 and the Galaxy S 2 though. The S2 has a 4.5 inch screen on Sprint and seems really nice at $200 after contract. It also has 4G, which I doubt the Iphone will have.

Sounds like the decision is already made...

Nah, its not that easy. I gotta see what size screen Apple is using, plus of course they have the best app store. I gotta see what kind of premium data charge they are going to try to put on the Iphone. Sprint could really clean up with the Iphone if they keep their same unlimited data plan with it, but I doubt they will.

Somehow I doubt Sprint will raise prices. A number of users for Android and Windows Phone already consume a ton of data. Why would the iPhone make the much of a difference?

well, the Evo 4G was one of the biggest, if not the big first, android phones...and they increased the price then.

Meh, I was going to wait but decided to just go ahead and take the Evo 3D, and absolutely love the phone

If Sprint maintains their current plans, I will be switching. Fact.

even if they increase it a bit (please don't do it Sprint :C), they offer a lot of discounts.

Yeah, it would be great if it came and forced Sprint to expand their 4G coverage. I've had no problems with Sprint over the years, but all their phones worth owning right now are 4G and I have no coverage in my area whatsoever.

Evo 3D is fing badass... Amazon Wireless has it for 50 bucks right now if anybody wants to jump on the Sprint bandwagon now. I need a phone now so I can't wait for iPhone, but hopefully good news for the future (and hopefully it doesn't ruin the network..).

I don't think they are going to be expanding wimax anymore, seeing as how they finally realized they just need to go to LTE and are planning for that. Supposedly there is a big announcement regarding 4G coming in October from them.

We'll find out more about Sprint's "secret" LTE plans then, phones, and more.

I hope that someone addresses the IDEN (Nextel) -> CDMA tower conversion project is completed or near completion, which would translate to more coverage.

Yo...that really is a great phone.

As a sprint user this makes me happy, I'd like to have a finger in each OS, I'm not one who would use one app cross platform.

Pc - Windows 7 (I hate OSX)

Tablet - Transformer (I like the browsing on it much more than my gf's ipad 2 and the vast majority of my tablet time is web browsing)

Phone - Currently Evo4g that I like but an Iphone would let me play the multitude of games that don't reach android (infinity blade etc). Oftentimes at work I have 5-10 min gaps of nothing so it makes no sense to bust out a DS/PSP but disposable half assed mobile games are perfect for it.

Numble? :(

Sprint Nextel Corp. (S) will offer Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s iPhone next month with unlimited data service plans to distinguish itself from rivals AT&T Inc. (T) and Verizon Wireless, according to people familiar with the matter.

Sprint, the third-largest U.S. wireless carrier, plans to begin selling the device in mid-October under a deal with Apple for the next model, the iPhone 5, said the people, who wouldn’t be identified because the plans aren’t public. Becoming the country’s only operator to offer the device with unlimited data service for a flat fee may help Sprint draw customers from AT&T and Verizon Wireless, which already carry the phone, they said.

I'm going to have to think long and hard about whether I stick with AT&T or jump ship to Sprint. Assuming it's a single world phone for all carriers, I think Sprint is going to have the most aggressive plans out there.

If they hold true on their unlimited everything for $80, I'm in. Would save $45 a month, easily.

To prepare for the introduction, Sprint has postponed the September debut of a rival smartphone that uses fourth- generation, or 4G, wireless technology, said one person familiar with the situation.
?

Still wating on the T-Mobile News. Apple please release a pentaband phone and tell the carriers to go fuck themselves.

What does suicide feel like? Can you end the ban at anytime by just contacting a mod?

Dat apple money.

Since I own an iPad i will ditch my sprint android phone (evo 4g) for an iphone when it comes out. Finally can use all those apps on both devices.

I love android but id rather have device synergy at this point.

We don't typically provide or comment on ban reasons or lengths, but numble asked to be banned for a significant length of time to focus on personal stuff / getting things done. If you have off-site contact with him you can feel free to ask him. If there are any other moderation questions (and again, like I said, we don't typically comment on ban reasons or lengths), feel free to PM me with them rather than replying in thread. Cheers.

Sucks, but for me was necessary.

Can't unban yourself, I tried :). I can respect administrations decision to make someone stick to what they imposed upon themselves, and don't want to be in the business of banning and unbanning people at their fickle will.

Hopefully numble gets what he was looking for and comes back better across the board.

Ask some people around your area regarding if they like Sprint's service. I have a few close friends who are switching to Verizon from Sprint for a reason (i.e. coverage). As for me, I'm OK with Sprint since I don't pay as much as I would be paying on other networks, and Sprint has been expanding its network towers which should be activated sometime by the end of this year.

Ask your employer or ask Sprint if where you work qualifies a discount.

If not, don't forget about the EPRP discount that everyone can use.

Psst - Have you Heard about Everything Plus?

By now, I’m sure everyone has heard about Sprint’s groundbreaking Simply Everything plans, but here’s an even better twist!

Everything Plus is Sprint’s new employee referal plan which takes the Simply Everything plans and makes them even better!

For example, the lowest priced Simply Everything plan is $69.99 for 450 Anytime minutes (and of course, unlimited text, web, TV, music, navigation, Direct Connect, etc.).

The equivalent Everything Plus plan is $59.99 for 500 Anytime minutes (and all that unlimited stuff).

There’s also a discounted 1000 minute plan at $79.99 and the unlimited plan at $99.99.

Interested? Check it out here. My e-mail address (you’ll need it) is russ.s.mcguire@sprint.com and the 3 digits you’ll need are 383.
