WTF is up with Gametrailers?

Yeah I keep wanting to download the newest Leipzig vids from the PS3 browser and they never have the WMV format up.

typically that takes minutes. movies that were posted three days ago still don't have download links.

Maybe they're behind right now because of leipzig. or maybe some videos are of games by companies that requested no downloadable versions to keep them off youtube or something.
 
Yeah this bothers me too. I always download the stuff rather than streaming, I like to watch in HD but for some reason HD flash can't run well on my computer (even tho WMVHD and QT HD work fine)...

Also is anyone getting slower speeds with GT now? Used to get 2.5mb/s, now I'm getting 500kb/s.
 
Depends what time of day it is. Gametrailers Flash usually works really well for me. WMV or MOV buffering is terrible at all times of the day, however.

typically a site of that size would have it all auto converted via on-demand scripts. Especially considering majority of the material isn't FLV to begin with, so they have to at least convert the source to FLV.
 
Gametrailers flash movies work 30% of the time for me. Re-installed the Adobe flash players, checked my (Mac) firewall, even tried it on Opera. Most of the time my movies will get stuck at "now loading" and won't work.

Same here. Their flash player has given me tons of problems. They never fail to display the advertisement though!

Has anyone else been getting those full page ads where you have to click "skip this stupid ass ad that I don't want to see to view the next page"?

This. If you notice, every video from major events don't have downloads, mostly because the footage is cam and exclusive to GameTrailers...so they don't want some other site taking GameTrailer's own cam footage and putting it on their site. Happened during E3 as well.
 
Gametrailers takes a while for me too. First you wait for it to buffer which takes a little while and then after it usually have to rebuffer mod way through the video again maybe once or twice depending on the length of the video. Thats for me on ADSL2 in Australia anyway, when I was on ADSL it almost wasn't worth watching anything on the site. Used to be quite good it's only be the last few months I've noticed this.

totally BS because they allow user uploads which end up always being IGN or Gamersyde content.
 
I dont normally bother with flash streaming, I just download the wmv version and watch it as it downloads using VLC media player.

Remember the Wii Fit video with the playboy model on youtube? Well somebody uploaded one with the same woman topless on GT. Even on the thumbnail you could see it all.

I'm not sure if GT usually allows stuff like that, but they certainly aren't efficient in taking it down if they don't. :lol

ya, HD Movie-trailers would be nice. Since IGN wants you to pay for it and not always easy to find.

HDs are coming, they take longer to compress.
 
GameTrailers flash videos have never given me problems. GameVideos on the other hand...

It might depend on where you live though, the local distributed content servers might not be as reliable.

quick rant:
just saw the TOO HUMAN review.
i don't get the score, they are basically saying "don't buy or rent. only rent if your a fan
of the genre".
and this is a 6.5? they even used the term "broken game" allot.
not the first time that the spoken critic and the score at the end seem from different games.
 
hey people with flash problems, if you have GT accounts feel free to submit a support ticket and our tech guys will take a look at it.

After they fucked up the comparison of Grid, I wont trust what they say anymore
 
Since a few months ago they always upload the Flash version first which really sucks, and only the WMV and MOV later, and some times is it takes a LONG time. Other times the WMV and MOV don't even get uploaded. Really sucks as my PC can't handle that badly encoded flash files.
