WTF Nintendo, Kid Icarus should have came with this, not that stand...

Tried this dozens of times, hated it. Arched back and neck looking straight down into those awfully tiny screens is miserable. Only ever comfortable for a few minutes before I can't take it much longer. Even laying back in a chair with the 3DS on my leg for support just didn't help matters.

As has been stated by others in the OT, the only way I ever found most comfortable to experience the game is perched up in bed with the 3DS+stand sitting on a pillow in my lap. It's total bullshit to go to those lengths to play this game, but it's worked absolutely best for me.

Did you ever try letting the 3DS rest on your palm?
Seriously, I don't know why people ever let the right side just hang in midair, hold it like you would any other controller.

This game is just part of Iwata's scheme to weed out the weaksauce gamers by compelling them to play a game too awesome for them to handle, killing them with overwhelming hand cramps so that Sakurai can save the stylus-wielding elite when the Nintendo Rapture occurs at E3.

They should have released it with the CPP. It's not only helpful for lefties, it's great for right handed people too. Makes it more comfortable to hold and using the ZL button instead of the L feels much better on the wrists. It also saves your L button from being destroyed.

I switched over the thumbstrap from my launch DS to my various Nintendo handhelds over the years.
It now proudly lives with my 3DS.

You guys are seriously pussies. There's no excuse for the control decisions Sakurai made, but you've been acting as if the 3DS weighs 10 pounds. I never get tired holding the damn thing. AND I USE THE 3D MAXED OUT.

Ignore this post if youre a poor, poor lefty.

That thing is why I insist people who still prefer Mario 64 over SM64DS are out of their fucking minds

Ugh

Its still nothing special. Ill take a N64 or GC controller over that thumb thing any day.

Coming from someone who collected (read: struggled) all 150 stars...twice.

Do you have legs? If so, you can.

What if I want to play while I was standing ? or lying on my back ?

No way, how are you supposed to get to the upper left side with the thumb strap without dislocating your thumb, I hated this hing on the OG DS.

I don't think the issue is the weight. In fact, I will bet that most people are complaining that ergonomically speaking, the 3DS is a piece of shit. You can not hold that thing for extended periods of time without it fucking your wrists up.

Nowadays, I can't even hold my phone in my hand for extended periods of time. Getting old is a bitch.

The DS has been out for eight years and you are just now whining about having to use a stylus? I don't understand what is so hard about Kid Icarus in general that causes so much grief.

*edit* I just looked into this stand thing and I still don't get it. I mean, we have been playing games with the d-pad and stylus since day zero (Metroid Prime Hunters) and there has been no problem. Phantom Hourglass, et al. I had no problems with the original fat DS. Is the 3DS that much heavier/bulkier?

Because some people are fucking left handed?

I had that thumb strap before. I used it with Metroid Prime Hunters. At first it was nice because I would get cramps from sprawling my left hand to support the DS. But soon I got really frustrated with how difficult it was to hit the tiny button on the screen that invoked the scan visor. So I went back to stylus and never looked back. I got past the initial discomfort rather quickly once I stuck with it.

Haven't touched KI yet, so I don't know if it has such tiny interface elements, but it doesn't sound like it does, at least during gameplay. Maybe it is good for that. I gave the thing away shortly after my little anecdote up there. Kinda regret that now.

EDIT: I just realized another reason why I didn't like the thumb strap. I kept it attached to the DS as a lanyard, and the connection point was at the R trigger. It didn't allow much slack. Conveniently, the connection point on the 3DS appears to be right up front there. Looks to be better.

Or Nintendo should've stopped the retarded control method of one hand using the stylus to aim while the other grips the device. Either go with better touch screen technology or put there a second circle pad.

But that's done, what concerns me is that they want to do the same thing with the WiiU.

Stylus aiming is infinitely superior to dual analog. You don't grip the device with just one hand. Use your stylus hand to brace the it as well.

I bought one of those to play with KI:U, to see how well it works. Stylus is far superior. And, as a lefty, my control of choice (thumbnail) remains king.

Waste of a dollar!

THIS

I FINALLY got this in the mail and yeah, WTF Nintendo!?

THIS is what should have been included instead of your stand. All that mockery, puzzled looks, manufacturing costs (lol), etc., and the answer was with something you already had from over, what, 7 years ago?

No hand fatigue

No loss of 3D

Just two hands, firmly securing your 3DS while your right thumb adequately enough mimics a right stick. It ain't perfect, but it's miles better than what they came up with

I'm pretty happy right now and STRONGLY recommend this for anyone else who were experiencing issues and, of course, *ahem* checked out my prior thread

EDIT: Let me re-stress that this is to address the concerns of us lefties
The fact that this is required for a touchscreen at all is insulting to me.

Hate resistive screens. :\

what did u guys think when u bought a ds? that there wouldnt be a game that required the touchscreen?

and its not hard to firmly hold the ds while using the stilus.
