WWDC10 Thread of iPhones and iProducts galore

Beautiful design...hope the industry starts to mimic it.

I dunno, from an aesthetic sense I love the evolution from the curvy iPhones, but that's the direction HTC has been going for a while, so that's nothing new. If anything I think they missed an opportunity in giving me more screen real-estate and less "negative space" on the phone. IMO, the only thing making the design look dated now is the size of the screen relative to the rest of the device.

If he has AT&T just tell him to bring his phone with his sim card and put into the iphone

Thanks for the advice, here's my follow-up question that wasn't answered yet:

Thanks, he also wants the original receipt should anything malfunction since I purchased it in November. Could any bad come from doing this? Does he need the receipt for the apple warranty?

I've registered my interest about getting one at launch with O2. Hopefully I get some kind of priority as an iPhone 3G customer who's out of contract. Fuck all these latecomers who are going to be looking to get out of their contracts for their
obsolete
3GSs :P

O2 asks for your address when you pre-register, saying that it might be sending out microSIM cards ahead of time.

Design is state of the art, which makes the price even more surprising to me.
Also having the 3GS at $99 makes Apple's move very aggressive: they just didn't want to let Androïd gain market share as easily as it did last quarter.

I slightly understand that. (Slightly.) Since you'd have new games to play all day. But a phone!?
You act like the iPhone is a phone or something.

I seriously would've thought that the Developer site would be down by now. Nothing has changed on there. No iOS 4 GM yet :/
I'm waiting too >:/

I hope they fixed up the weather app's icon

Umm, isn't this pricing scheme pretty much standard with Apple now since they've had a $99 3G ever since the 3GS was announced, right? Hardly a new posture from them in terms of the previous gen hardware pricing.

Apple has never included speeds or amount of RAM in the official tech spec lists for iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.
They specifically mentioned the 1Ghz speed of the A4 during the iPad conference. So either they're assuming everyone just "knows" that the A4 is that speed...or the iPhone 4 is using an underclocked version which they don't want to announce.

But yeah, they never officially mentioned RAM for either device.

MEGA

So look, we know the dilemma you're in. You nabbed that iPhone 3G or 3GS a little late in the game, and now you've got to wait until December in order to snag the iPhone 4 at a discounted rate. Lucky for you, Apple and AT&T have worked to give folks like you a little leniency, with existing AT&T users able to upgrade to the iPhone 4 "up to six months early." In other words, if your current contract expires at any point in 2010, you're now eligible to grab an iPhone 4 at $199 (16GB) or $299 (32GB) so long as you agree to stay faithful to a carrier you may or may not loathe for another two years. Good thing you've got until the 24th to really think it over.

it appears to be only an iphone to iphone upgrade which is stupid, i would assume i'd be able to argue my way into this because i'd be giving them more money and a higher etf going from regular phone to smartphone

Not sure if this has been discussed but is Game Center expected to be available day one with iOS4 and have any developers stated they will be utilizing it?

Phone calls make up less that 10% of my time on my iPhone.
Therefore its name and primary function make it..not it's primary function? Everyone uses it differently, but it's still a phone like every other phone. You buy it from a phone company and pay for minutes to talk on the PHONE. Call it a smartphone, superphone, whatever. It is still a phone at heart, unless Apple has given up on attempting to have a reliable phone in their...phone (yes, blame ATT).

It'd be funny if AT&T is doing this because the iPhone will be coming to another carrier by the end of the year.

Looks hot. Any news on upgrades for Canadians? :'(
we need to know this!!

We do 3 year contracts here :( So hopefully there is some kind of upgrade option for those who are going into their last year...

Is it? The way they keep saying "coming with iOS 4" made me think it a default app, like when OS 3 (or was it 2) made Voice Memos just show up.

I bring it up because I'm still rocking the first gen, which won't get 4.0 at all.

It is a separate app on the iPad, they'll probably make it universal that it runs the same on both iPhone and iPad and they only have to develop one app for both platforms.

i'm willing to bet good money that this is PRECISELY why they are doing it

You're taking an entire day off of work to buy a phone.

You're goddamn right I am.

Also, it's the day before the first day of my vacation to go to the Origin's Game Convension in Ohio, so I may as well just tack on one more day!

Well I'll step off the hype train for a while as I've still got a year to go before early upgrade pricing kicks in. No way in hell am I paying $400 bucks for the 16GB version, just not going to happen.

Fair enough. I mostly like the buttons and the way the antennas are integrated into the design. The screen size vs the bezel does make it look more elongated.

I am not too sure about that, i don't have much experience with this but if you paid with a CC or something you might not want to give out the receipt.
