WWDC10 Thread of iPhones and iProducts galore

So if I understand this correctly, the price for the 32GB version iPhone 4 should be the same price of current 3GS, and all the models are just moving down in the priceline?

That means that with O2s offer, trading in my current 3GS should cover the cost of the new iPhone 4, and all I'd have to pay was the cost of paying off my contract.

That means I should get a 32GB iPhone 4 for 160 pound! :D

I hope I've worked that out correctly, otherwise I've just set myself up for disappointment, lol!

learn to stop worrying and love the empty spaces, i was having the same problem last night. it bothered me even more that since the rows only hold four icons, a square of 9, which makes the homescreen icon full, makes a widow of one icon on the freakin folder page!! ARGH!!

I know, I know. typically these things don’t bug me but this seems to be crawling over my mind since I started playing around with it. Which is why I think I’ll reduce the number of folders I use to only 2 or 3 and then just use regular old pages for everything.

In my history, these brain freezes tend to last only for a couple days or weeks and then I go back to not giving a shit :)

Haha. So do you download apps to fill out a folder "genre" or do you combine apps that are not necessarily the same type just to fill 9 per each?

the latter. for example, a folder for photo apps morphed into photos and artsy apps and then I tossed some video apps in there to finally make it fill up 9 squares.

Is this new? iTunes used to error saying "There is not enough space to copy all these music files" before, now it told me it "will try to copy as many as possible." So no more managing music playlists on smaller iPods? Sweet!

Edit: Now it asks if I want to delete photos and albums to make room. Rather than automatically compressing photos down to small amounts without asking. Nice. Then if you press No, or there's still too much music it then again asks if you want to have it choose songs.

Also, I got my icons down to two pages. Sooo good.

That Radioshack trade in deal looks nice. Anyone familiar with what they consider, condition wise? The silver cap on my mute button fell off a while ago but otherwise the thing is spotless. If I have to I'm sure I can ebay a new one for a dollar and glue it back on.

114px is the new standard for app icons.

Okay.. am I crazy.. I'm on a 2nd Generation iPod touch and I can't find the option to change my background wallpaper. Only my lock screen. Am I crazy? Did they leave that off old devices for some stupid reason? Or is it hidden??

RadioShack is accepting some pretty generous trade-in offers on both the iPhone 3G and 3GS towards the purchase of an iPhone 4:
Gazelle gave me $112 for my 3G.

Those who are eligible for an upgrade should check it out, you can get $201 for a "good" condition 3GS right now, and the offer is locked in for 30 days after you submit it.

Gazelle is offering $272 on my 3GS. :D

$20 for an iPhone 4? Yes, please.

2nd gen touches and iPhone 3g can’t change home screen wallpaper.

seemingly random feature cut from apple for the older devices.

That makes no sense! It's not like it takes more processor cycles. It's as stupid as not making the clock icon update like the calendar does.

Disappointment am total. So all I get that's new is folders. So it's not a total loss. Still... bah. Thankfully I'll be getting whatever iPod touch's come out in September. Still until then. Bah. Maybe a mistake? Maybe it'll be in the final?

Edit: Well this is nice. The Home Screen/Spring Board remembers what folder you were in after launching an app when you return to it. That's nice. You can keep a folder open if you want and have other apps in there you might want to go to right away.

Hey guys, I have a question for you all.

So, my entire family is switching over to AT&T for this phone, and we're all very excited about it. I'm canceling my current contract with Verizon pretty much a day or two before the 24th when I go to pick up the phone, but that leaves me with an old Blackberry Storm 9530 that I have no idea what to do with.

Obviously, I'm thinking about selling it via eBay. My question is, what do I have to do in order to sell it? What I mean by that is, since the contract will be cancelled for the phone under Verizon, will the phone then be unlocked, or is it still under Verizon? What do I do with my SIM card...does Verizon just take that from me when I cancel? And this'll be my first time selling something on eBay, any beginner's advice?

Yeah, I was going to wait to see if I could come up with the money for the iPhone 4, but $112 for my 3G? I'm not going to pass that up.

Anyone else going OCD with creating folders???

Just can't seem to get stuff organized enough!

My problem is going to be the folder limitation. I'm going to hate splitting games up into separate folders or categories, and I'm really going to hate it when I have a category that goes over by one or two apps because Apple was silly to have such a small limitation. I may skip folders for the most part because having pages of apps will make more sense than the folder limitation.

I'm considering selling my 3G on Gazelle, too. Has anyone actually sold something to them before?
Yeah, a few years ago, though. They're a legit organization.the entire process went smoothly and they didn't make me pay for shipping. Just don't lie to them about the condition of your stuff. I can only see it ending badly.

not sure if serious?

I sold my 3G 2 months ago for $360.

why would you sell it for $112? or were you kidding?

You got a good deal man. As previously mentioned, the highest offer I've received for my 3GS is $340.

Actually, yeah... I didn't know prices were as high on ebay for a 3G as they are. I'm going to try that route before using Gazelle.

The sim card will be useless when you cancel your verizon account. The phone will be yours.

That radioshack is tempting so instead of paying 399 for the phone I'll just pay 199.

They make Apple's screen?

They don't need to - since they do make all kinds of screens, that knowledge is within their grasp.

Even then, Apple's screen aren't made of faerie dust: they are outsourced mass-manufactured products - they just need to call for a quote.

They're pretty cheap too, 3G/3GS price to consumers is 30$, massive orders will be quite cheaper.

The power consumed by a screen will be dependent upon any number of components, not just the screen itself. It will also depend on what is being shown and what the firmware/software is doing. You can't call up a manufacturer and ask them how much power another company's product uses.

3G? shit, that’s what I sold mine for 12 months ago and it was unlocked.

good job!

I’m hoping for around 250 to 300 for my current 16 GB 3GS locked.
I can't imagine you getting a penny less than $400. but you should wait. a saturated market will depress how much you can get for it.

I always used double click on the home button to acces my favourite phonenumbers. I know it was double click & hold during beta phase, but I just can't figure it out now. Any help here please?

And by the way, I found this new feature. Japanese keyboard layout has got a smilie button and a huge list of samples

Get the fuck out, where at?

On eBay, I should put that was in Aussie dollars which is about $420US.

well done.

so what are you guys who are selling your phones going to do for the next 2.5 weeks?

just not have a primary means of communication?

I got a HTC Desire for free so I'm using that. We have to wait till the end of July here for our iPhone 4 :(

edit: Oh yeah mines unlocked officially.

Oh, I’m totally gonna wait till after I get my hands on a new one. last thing I want to do is use my emergency Nokia POS for an extended period.

I was guessing on my price based on what I got last year for the 3G and how this one will still be locked. but I always check around craigslist for prices before putting anything up for sale.

I'm being a generous (and stupid) older brother and going to give my iPhone 3G to my brother.

Perfect condition - been in a total body Bestskinsever invisible skin since Day 1 PLUS inside a SwitchEasy Colors case. I don't even remember what it looks like naked since that was only for the first few hours.

.. Wow. I'm dumb.

That's still pretty incredible. It's making me reconsider settling at 340 for my 3GS on Craigslist. But it looks as if hardly anyone is breaking $300 for their 3GS' now on ebay.

Upgrading my 3GS to iOS4 right now. Wish me luck.
Bah! Pandora doesn't support running in the background yet. That was the whole reason I jumped the gun. I can't restore my apps & data, either, since I sync to my Win7 PC and I used my macbook to install the update.

Off to restore. I guess I'm waiting until the 21st to run iOS4.

I got $300 for my 3G a year ago which heavily subsidized my 3GS purchase. Plan to do the same with my 3GS, still in excellent condition, I'll throw in the dock and an incase slider too, I expect I'll get a good price for it. Can't fucking wait for iPhone 4!

Yeah mines unlocked, say if you guys want any iPhones from Australia when they're out I can get em for you unlocked I suppose :P

I'm still pissed that 3G's can't have the custom wallpapers. Is it really that big of a deal?

Haven't people have custom wallpapers in the background since the first iPhone when it was JB'd?

Yep. Multitasking has been around for a while too. Nothing a few switches in a plist can't fix.
